I can't tell you how much you helped me. I bought pants thinking they had belt loops only to find they didn't, and having a smaller waist then hips it's a nightmare trying to sew without a sewing machine. I now have a way to make those pants fit and haven't spent allot on alterations! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I have a 3yr old daughter and i buy her jeans a half size bigger ( being that toddlers grow so fast) i usually buy jeans with the elastic already in them. However this time around i didn't. thinking i could sew in the waist part ( it came out as a disaster by the way) i most definitely appreciate you. I believe all mom's should get into the habit of learning things like this.💕
Best video on this that I have seen on You tube so far! Only 6 years for me to find this to alter some pants I found at the thrift store, lol. Looking forward to trying this!
Thankyou for this tutorial.I sewed my denim skirt and the waist size was too long. You've saved me from cutting excess of the side seams as I wanted a full gather on the waistband.
I believe the first pair you had were maternity but you didnt know it! I remember have the sides of some maternity pants done that way (not all the way across). Great idea!
This is wonderful. Thanks for sharing. My 11-year-old grandson is y’all and slender. To get the length right the waist is usually to big and would bunch under the belt. This idea 💡 is excellent. It seems quick once you get the hang of it. Think I’ll try it on hubby’s jeans.
I love this! Thank you! I have for perfectly good pairs of shorts that have the stretched out elastic. I was going to toss them out! Now I can wear them!❤❤❤
I've always thought there must be a way to add this. My child is so thin I have to find the pants that come with the adjustable waist and sometimes I have to pass on really good deals because of that. Thank you for taking the time to share this helpful video.
I feel dumb!! My toddler’s jeans have these and I never thought to add them to my own jeans that always seem to gap in the back. I never realized how simple it is to add this. Thanks for the awesome tutorial!!
This was helpful indeed. I have added elastic to chino shorts and jeans, but my "repair" was not adjustable. Now that I know this buttonhole elastic exists, I will try your way next time I get a pair of casual pants that are just a little bit loose at the waist. Thank you!
Thank God. One of my favorite pair of flexible pants droops a lot during the day, especially when it rains and the bottoms get wet (and heavier), as I found out last week when I was carrying an armful of large boxes and nearly LOST my pants due to sagging!
If you pin the elastic to a big ish safety pin and thread it through. The way you would add elastic to a waistband. But like the other lady said, my kid's pants and skirts have this. Why don't we have it lol xx
Great idea for when we loose weight n still like our cute pants..I'd rather them gather a little and wear a shirt over that part then to not wear my pants again.Thank You for your video
Thank you! My super skinny son has just outgrown the largest size of boys adjustable pants and I was panicking trying to figure out what he was going to wear next year.
What an incredible idea! and here I was taking apart my jeans and so on and so forth in order to put elastic in. I will even try it on my leggings that insist upon showing more than just my butt. Thank you again!!!
My unasked for advice: model the pants before and after. I am wondering if the waist will looked gathered and bunchy afterward. That look is fine on elementary school kids but not on me.
+Amy Tupper. I didn't think of that.. Most of my pants have the internal belt and they look great. It does not look bunchy. The elastic allows the waistline material to gather pretty evenly. If I buy pants to fit hips, waistline is sometimes little too loose. Now, if you are tying to fix pants that are way too big, it may not look too good, even with a traditional belt. If you could wear the pants with a traditional belt, I believe the internal elastic belt will be fine (but without bulk of a belt, having to find a belt, etc.)
Amy Tupper it would depend on how much you are taking in the waist. If you have so much fabric to take in but don't like the bunched look then the alternative would be to have the pants trailered. This is just a quick fix for people who don't want to take their clothes to the tailer.
I don't have any idea how to adjust these buttons on my daughter's shorts which I recently bought and it's oversize .could you please show because I don't know how to use it when we wear it..I know it's embarrassing to ask this silly question, but nowhere in RU-vid's shown how to wear and adjust the shorts with the help of these buttons.. thank you in advance
I'm pretty sure this is the answer I'm looking for for my husbands pants that are always falling down in the butt area. Thank you so much. I'm be trying this soon.
I'm looking for a stretch belt . Just a regular looking belt but made of something that has some stretch to it . Does anyone make this or is there a way for me to make one if there isn't one ?
