@@falconswiss5217 In some cases, they're fertilized and they're just trying to look for a place to have their colony. You could find a drone + a queen and put both of them in a test tube and they would most likely mate and the drone would die. or you could find a fertilized queen at a nearby park or possibly buy a queen from a local ant farmer. Good luck.

@Louis-cl2yd
@Louis-cl2yd 6 лет назад
These species such as for example Camponotus are MUCH larger in size than some other ants so in turn the queen lays less eggs and they take longer to hatch so if you wish for a large colony of these you will need a lot of time and space and even still the colony has limits.

@strangeworldbelow5347
@strangeworldbelow5347 7 лет назад
Because ants are going into hibernation at the moment, look in the spring when the queens fly out. Or buy one

I live in Perth, WA and I did not see in this video the species of ant that has invaded a corner of my balcony. I live on the Third floor!! I prepared a 50/50 mixture of honey and borax. Diluted it in some water and poured it on them. I also put some of it on a beer bottle cap. It didn`t work as ant bait. I think next time I need to reduce the amount of borax so it does not overpower the honey. The ants in my balcony are the ones that release a very nice aroma when you crush them between your fingers. Any suggestions on how to best exterminate them?

Hi Jordan my name is Hector. I am fairly new to ant keeping but since I started I have fallen inland ve with them. I recently purchased a small colony now a little over 100 strong but and advice on this particular species would be greatly appreciated. They are currently hibernating so I know theirs not much involved but to keep them moist but any other tips would be great also do you have any videos on this s species Aphaenogaster fulva

hey jordan, I've been watching your videos for a while and am interested in raising an ant colony. but I'm not good at finding queens and can't seem to find the nuptial flights of most ants in my specific area. I live on a vegetable farm a little southeast of melbourne. I've seen antscanada set up a community for entimology enthusiasts to sell and buy queens in their area and I was wondering if you did the same kind of thing.

I caught a very large amount of small black ants. They have a ton of eggs but I don't know if they have a when. I have them in a big pickle jar with the sand and plant materials I got them from. Any pointers?

I have a question, i have seen that when ana ant gets killed or dies, all the others come to take the body, what do they do with it?
@JordanDeanFilms
@JordanDeanFilms 7 лет назад
They'll usually dump their dead above the surface of their nest.

I've got just under ten green headed ants in a wide and long container with no lid and no slipping agent (green headed ants can't climb plastic well) and I'm pretty sure that one isn't exiting the makeshift nest. Maybe she's a gamergate?

Also 4:14 isn't fighting, I don't think. If that is a queen then the other ant may be trying to pull her back to the nest. Bull ants are a species that restrains the queen in the nest because she never loses the instinct to forage from her semi claustral days
