Used to live up in Atlanta. Can't imagine the difficulty of keeping chickens up there. Hopefully you guys catch a break this year and don't get snowed in too much. Family tells me so many of the peekaboo towns lost their only grocery stores and stuff during the pandemic. Sad because life up there, although wonderful, is not for the faint of heart and you all definitely can't lose too many of those places and have to drive 2 hours to a store instead of one. I miss my people, and the elk, but I don't miss that cold and snow up to the sills. ❤️

My hens favorite are plantain and lemon clover . Please wear a mask when you sweep the coop . Compost all your raking , table scraps and coop cleaning together, it helps balance out the high nitrogen in the chicken droppings , then add to garden the following year . Beans , corn , tomatoes , carots and potatoes will love it . ✌️🙏🐔

Bushcraft Bear, you are learning to farm.. quite well...! But, then we are totally amazed, when you are working so hard to inform us. (Thank goodness for rural families. I come from a farm in rural Colorado.) We raised just ....cows. Nothing more complex was happening then. Feeding so many animals was often times... pretty good. And... I do recall the...honey was harvested, when the spring flowers arrived. That great when I was a kid. It took a lot of courage to be there. You are progressing well with the chickens. 😴...🐓...🏡....💛

Your chicken-care procedure is so very similar to mine - except that, my chickens don't seem to like oatmeal very much. I throw their fertilizer into my garden. I badly need a wheelbarrow. I priced a new one, about two years ago, but couldn't come to pay the asking price. Great video. Thanks.

I LOVE your chicken set up! I don’t know if you are aware but saving the egg shell and feeding them back to the chickens will ensure they get enough calcium to keep laying strong shelled eggs. There are a couple of ways people do this. One is to wash and let them dry naturally another is to bake them in an oven for a few minutes. Either way, after they are completely dry smash them into small pieces and set them out for the chickens just like you might offer crushed oyster shells. Changing the shape of them keeps you from encouraging them to peck their newly laid eggs.
