Dude your video helped me so much and answered a lot of questions. Thank you so much! I have a 8,000 btu LG on the way and I hope it works as well as your B&D unit. Take care and thanks again. 🙏

Did the same thing with my 1999 Taos Coleman. Worked great. Sold Camper but still have 8000 AC . Checked it out today and it still works great!

It is an easy alternative to the roof mounted AC units and if your main ax in your house goes out you can still use it in a bedroom to keep cool. Thanks for the comment and view.

Important to remember with those units is that they need to be stored standing up. They won't work if you lay them down.

Great info! I always store mine standing up even during transport to the destination. Thanks for the view and comment.

Great video on that I've got a 1991 Coleman Columbia and want to get air conditioning for it an this looks like a great solution Ill probly be plugged into shore power most time when using the ac but if my westinghouse 2200watt inverter generator can handle of of these thatle be awsome too for when im camping off grid nice about the fire stuff too😎

Thank you so much for your video. A couple of questions that may sound dumb but I need you expertise. 1. Is there enough air to circulate in the pop up to run the AC unit? Our pop up when opened is 21 feet long. I was thinking we needed to open a the door window or roof vent for air circulation. 2. How much condensation was in the drip pan after using for a night? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I keep the unit a certain amount of inches away from the campers wall and it no issues. The manual says how much. Usually guess and all is good. I personally think pop ups are ventilated enough as they are with nothing open. The unit comes with a hoses that can be snaked to the outside or I use the pan. I never really see much water build up. If it is a super humid day might have some excess. If you have a larger popup. Go a size bigger than this unit to give you plenty of cool air. Hope it helps and thanks for watching.

Takes up a good amount of floor space. A window unit will use a less electricity than a portable. A 8000 portable nets out to about 5500 BTU, so buying a window unit will be easier on the generator.

Great info. I didn’t know a good way to use a window unit in a pop up camper with out extreme mods. We only use this at parks with electric hookup. So no energy concerns.

The prior owners of my popup cut out a piece of the camper to run the output hose however it takes a lot of space to sit the ac in the floor of my little pop. My output hose gets hot when running. Wondering if it would melt the canvas if I sat it up higher and ran out the canvas.
@HawkMeyerOutdoors
@HawkMeyerOutdoors 5 месяцев назад
We personally never had an issue. We wrapped a towel around the output pipe in an attempt to keep bugs out. The output pipe on our a/c unit doesn’t get extremely hot. If you are having a heat issue you may want to keep doing the method you had mentioned. But we just unzip the side of the pop up and pipe it out the side no problems.

How often did you have to drain that aluminum drip pan? Great video, probably gonna pull the trigger & get that B&D 12,000 BTU AC. Thanks!!
@HawkMeyerOutdoors
@HawkMeyerOutdoors Год назад
On that day not that much. I think it has alot to do with humidity. But you should be good to go with a 12,000 BTU.

How’s the stock trailer panel holding up running it ? Any tripped breakers or blowing fuses
@HawkMeyerOutdoors

I use a power cord and plug it in directly to the campsite power box. This camper had a outlet made just for an ac unit so it should not have had any issue if I did use it that way. Sorry I could help more.

It appears that your unit is too tall to transport standing? I asked a (different) manufacturer about transporting a unit on it's side, and they recommended that it would need to be left standing for an entire day before using it? Do you travel with it standing?

I got one and used it last year in my rockwood freedom. My problem is that it sucks the canvas sides in and didn't keep up much. Did yours do that if so how did you stop it from that
@HawkMeyerOutdoors
@HawkMeyerOutdoors Год назад
Never had that problem. Mine never kept the camper freezing but it did keep it comfortable. You might need a more powerful unit. My camper is pretty ventilated that might be your issue. But not sure. It has never had that issue.

@@HawkMeyerOutdoors thank you ill look into it. I'm not sure what btu mine is. Also its pretty air tight I may crack the roof vent a lil and see if that helps

How did you attach the exhaust pipe
@HawkMeyerOutdoors
@HawkMeyerOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
I placed the exhaust vent out through the side of the camper through a part that zips up and simply wrapped a towel around it. I attached the input side of the exhaust on the unit as the manual states. Hope it helped.
