* Relax and briefly rest your pelvic floor muscles between every exercise
* Increase the strength of your Kegel exercises when you can
2. Kegels Daily Routine
* Start doing up to 8-12 long Kegel exercises
* Maintain each exercise for as long as you can up to 8 seconds duration
* Next practice 4 quick strong 1 second Kegel exercises in a row
This daily routine can be performed 3 times daily on your training day. Try to do your exercises on 5 training days per week as part of your regular Kegels routine.

I am practicing along.i am only 12 and I can't hold urine and I drip urine I am on medication I am just from removing a catheter and now I'm practicing these inner strength it is helping me very much thank you for your help 😊😊❤

Hi Michelle i have been doing these 3 times a day for about 2 and 1/2 months. In the beginning I couldnt hold them for long. Now I can hold for the whole 8 seconds for at least 10 repetitions. This is the best video on utube. some are harmful or a waste of time. I would love to find a video on doing them standing. I have tried doing them standing and it feels considerably weaker and not sure if Im doing them right. Thanks again for your work

i've had prolapse for abt 8 yrs. I'm in my 70's and use a pessary. I had become lax in kegels. Thank you Michelle for your enthusiastic coaching. Good Job! I'm feeling stronger now down there. I'm hard of hearing so could you speak a little slower please.

I thought I was doing pelvic floor workouts good until I started doing this video! I do this two times back to back in the morning then once at night.. been doing it two weeks now and what a difference!!! I am 36 I have never had the strength and confidence as I do today ❤️ thank you Michelle! I love all your videos

Hey Michelle I think I have been overworking these kegals :-( maybe did more the last few weeks then I was ready for plus I have been doing a lot of lower ab workouts. I have been having sexual dysfunction the last few times and the constant feeling of needing to pee like a pressure... I hope I didn't ruin something :-( are there any tips or videos for this??? @@ashleyhubble2995 hi Ashley, the need to pee during sex is normally a good thing, that's the sensation when you are about to climax, the kegels you've been doing are working! Unless you are in pain? Bare in mind urine incontinence is when you aren't able to control it, the pressure shows the hard work you've been putting in

Michelle, I recently had two surgeries, rectopexy and mucopexy. I was suffering from Rectoanal intussusception, rectocele, and mucosal lining prolapse for years. Finally found a surgeon to help me. I’m sure all the years waiting for surgery didn’t help. I’m still recovering from the mucopexy done last month. The rectopexy was in July. I want to be sure I am successful so that I no longer suffer from the nightmare it was. Are these the exercises I should do? Are there any others you’d recommend? Thank you so much.

@suzanteman6376 Hello there, I’m so sorry to read what you’ve been through and endured. These are uncomfortable procedures aren’t they, especially with bowel movements. In terms of short term recovery the goal is to spend time upright and out of bed as well as lying down with knees bent over a pillow to encourage healing without straining. Stool consistency is also vital, keeping a soft well formed stool and not straining by using the correct bowel emptying position and technique see here for more details on recovery exercises and more do’s and don’ts ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mDn96mOE9kg.htmlsi=F5lRo_PjFwsW78Jf Do you have access to pelvic floor physiotherapy? It could be very valuable to have a couple of sessions to ensure that your risk factors are minimized and this needs to be determined through thorough assessment. @@michellephysio Hi, thank you for your reply. I was looking at your download videos for purchase. Which one is best for me? I was also watching your video on best foods for softening stool. I am a low carb eater, type 1 on insulin pump. I’m finding that my stool refuses to soften despite eating and drinking foods you mentioned. It may be just because I’m still recuperating but it does make the bathroom experience unpleasant. I moo and all but there are days that are really trying. Even better days aren’t great. I certainly don’t want to cause a relapse. I absolutely love your videos and the caring loving way you speak to us. Thank you for that.

@@suzanteman6376 Hi Suzanne many factors can impact stool consistency. Post op usually polypropylene glycol daily until at least fully healed (3 mths min). Check with pharmacist suitable for yr gen health but generally very safe & non habit forming (brand names Movicol, Osmolax etc) - keeps stool soft, well formed and doesn’t irritate bowel, need to ensure 1-2 cups inc. fluid daily. All the vids. & books are here on Pelvic Exercises website www.pelvicexercises.com.au/pelvic-exercise-products/ The Prolapse Exercises Book (pink cover) or Prolapse Recover vid course will give you valuable info for long term management. Start with Inside Out Strength vid (blue cover) for basics. Progress to Strength & Core if desired later down the track. I hope this info helps you Suzanne! @@michellephysio , thank you again for your help. I was wondering if you thought a biofeedback device would help to make sure I’m strengthening my sphincter muscles correctly? I’ve seen things for vaginal insert but wonder if I should use one for anal insert. If so, is there one you’d recommend? I had gone to a physiotherapist when this all started years ago and wasn’t impressed with her. If it’s something I can do at home it would be great. Thank you.

Great video. Watched your kegels for beginners video. Just wanted to check when I can start doing these. I had a vertical abdominal total hysterectomy 7 days ago. Now I am at home. I was going to start doing them on my back.

Hey Katrina I hope you’re recovering ok, vertical abdo incisions can be tough! Most women start Kegels around 4 wks post op but this can vary amongst surgeons. It would be useful to phone yr dr’s rooms and double check with reception before commencing yours and all the best!

@Nana Beans these exercises can make the pelvic floor muscles tighter and stronger. These muscles are positioned in and around where you sit, close to the opening of the vagina and anus. These muscles can become better toned with Kegel exercises particularly if already weak or not exercised previously. Glad you like the videos!❤️🌺

Hi. Is it possible for be a fit Pilates regular and still have a weak pelvic flloor? I still have bowel urgency that I think might be due to weak muscles / perhaps damaged during childbirth x 3.

@johannahendriksvanwarbij7215 Yes absolutely fine to do Kegel exercises during your period, some women experience increased pelvic floor dysfunction associated with hormonal changes. There's no need to avoid Kegels during this time provided of course they cause no discomfort. Wishing you all the very best!🙏

What does it mean when I can hold it pretty long, I don't have incontinence but I have really horrible almost constant feeling like my bladder is full and I need to go. It's almost like a pain, quite unpleasant. I never "leaked" or peed uncontrollably but I have that persistent feeling I need to go. Is it still OAB? It doesn't hurt and I don't have UTI, I have this problem for more than decade.

@@michellephysio I think it's that "going just in case" (I traveled a lot by bus) that messed up my nerve in bladder. Now I am dealing with consequences. It's very damaging to quality of life, I have to go every 30 minutes :(

It sounds like you may have interstitial cystitis. Dealing with same issue right now and trying to find a diagnosis. My friend has it and suggested I see a urologist for testing.

i find myself holding my breath as i do these kegels. i try to breathe normally but i can't seem to get into a good flow of breathing and squeezing. am i squeezing too hard?

Hi Michelle, first I would like to say thank you. You are a good tutor. I had a total hysterectomy 12 weeks ago due to fibroids and endometriosis. I have struggled to do the kegel exercises and I was told that Iam in the beginning of a prolapse & this caused me a lot of anxiety. I could not feel the muscles when I started but now I feel them and I feel Iam getting there. You are honestly God sent. Thank you again and continue to do the great work.

Thanks. I might not be as strong as I imagined. I can feel my short exercises strongly. But the longer ones I must be gradually dropping off as I don’t feel much release after the 8 seconds. Is that unusual?

I find that if I do this routine twice a day, my very lower abdomen, down under the belly button gets quite sore, quite tender. Does that mean I'm doing something wrong.

@sandramalkovsky5197 Hi there, the lower abdo muscles do coactivate with pelvic floor muscles so the contraction is normal and in fact desirable. Lessening the intensity of Kegel exercises will reduce associated lower abdo discomfort. If pain persists after doing this for a week or so best to get your symptoms checked by your doctor to make sure they are not being caused by something else.

Hello Michelle, thank you so much for all your helpful videos. If I am not doing the Kugels perfectly, will they still help? Is there a way I can tell if I am doing them correctly? I squeeze my bottom muscles when I tighten my anus. I can't seem to separate the two. Rather than tighten my 3 openings, I just pull up the whole pelvic floor. Thanks so much.

I am 23 and got incontinence. The ultra sound reports were clear(No UTI). Pelvic floor weakness must be the issue right? Should I do this exercise like is it effective for every sort of incontinence ? I used to puff my urine a lot maybe thats why it has happened. So stressed i don't even know what i have typed lol. Do respond please

I'm 63 and I did this routine two years ago for a couple of weeks, and I managed to recover completely. Now I'll repeat the routine again because I have done some squats that made me feel a bit weak on my pelvic floor. Thank you for this very practical video.

Thank you for your helpful comment, please can you tell me exactly which kegel exercises did you do regularly? Did you do exactly this same ones in the video only? Or added something else also? How long did it take to heal up? This is a very embarrassing problem for me😢

@@peache8 No it does not weaken your pelvic floor muscles it makes them stronger. Now if you were lifting weights well that is different. Just do a google search on it and it comes up

Hi Michelle, I have a bladder prolaspe and on the 27th September I am going to a gyne clinic maybe to have a pessary fitted. I have just joined the gym and have been gently working out on the treadmill, row machine, and recumbent bike. Is this OK to do. Many thanks

I recently subscribed to your channel and really appreciate your information and your approach. I am 38 and have had some stress incontinence issues ever since having children. I am very active and would love to incorporate some light running into my routine but feel very limited by my "problem." I am now on a mission to improve my pelvic floor function!! I think I commented on this video before...But, I love this!! I love all of Michelle's videos. She makes all her videos in such a way that ANYONE can understand them. I just love her so much!!! It is great to have a coach when doing these exercises. I went to a local pelvic health therapist ; but I have learned so much more from Michelle's videos. Thank you a million times over!!! Question: I’m a male and I’ve been doing a kegels for over almost a month. After urinating there are times where I don’t experience any incontinence but then I might urinate later in the day and all of a sudden I experience slight incontinence. Why is that? Why does the incontinence leave but come back again?

This is a great help. I just wonder about breathing. It is mentioned after the 8 second hold, to relax and breath, but what about at the start. Should we do a big inhale before the lift and squeeze? My error - listening more carefully today I notice she DOES mention breathing at least in repetition 2 & 3.
