I really wish journalists would start asking politicians what they thought the question was. We all know they are dodging it. But they get to just pretend the question is whatever conveniently sets up their talking points.

I'm white, multi generational English, non-Muslim and Gaza and the plight of the Palestinians is a vote changer for me, so the media needs to encompass the amount of non-Muslim support there is about this. Broader issue is the amount of Islamabphobia arising from the fact for the last two decades UK has been involved in conflicts with Muslim fighters on the opposing side. People from Germany had a lot of the same issues post WW1 & WW2.

During his leadership of Labour, I have chanced upon several interviews with Starmer where he simply does not answer even slightly challenging questions, not only on Palestine but on social-economic issues as well. When faced with direct calls as such, he usually picks a favourable (sometimes totally irrelevant) sideline and repeats it until the other side gives in. This type of behaviour seems to be an essential part of his personality, adding to his image of a highly untrustworthy, dishonest human, worse than the average politician.

How does Starmer think that having just 20% of the electorate voting for him is a strong mandate? 80% of the electorate did NOT vote for him. Even if you only count those that actually voted he only got 1/3 of the votes, so 2/3 don't want him, so that isn't a strong mandate either.

What a shame people of power like Starmer can not be honest, and respect the rule of law, over the mass killings in Gaza and the west bank by the Israel Government. for many many years, the words that comes to mind is ethics and integrity, of which he has non. may he needs a lesson in in both and standards too

I think he probably considers that Muslims have abandoned labour, rather than his party abandoning Muslim part of the electorate that his party is meant to be representing.

We got a strong mandate - oh, did I tell you my father was a tool maker? He is using the same Sunak approach to questioning, don't answer, just repeat the party line.

I would love it for journalists to bring up in every interview that he got less votes than corbyn did in 2019.

I'm glad to say I didn't cast my first ever vote into labour, I voted green, and I do not believe with the numbers that many of the newer voters bothered with labour either, people had to vote tactically Kier shouldn't act like we all endorse him.

I remember watching Boris Johnson jockey his way into Number Ten. You could see he wanted to be Prime Minister more than anything, and purely for egotistical reasons. A nanosecond into his leadership and Covid put a spanner in his works, turned his premiership experience from a jolly wheeze playing politics into a nightmare. I just love the way the universe works. He got what he wanted, but not in the way he imagined. I think the same will be true for Starmer. Desperate to become Prime Minister, he trampled and backstabbed his way into the job. And now his wish has come true, it won't be long before something happens that will be the proverbial crumb in his lemonade. When you do a deal with the devil, the devil aaalways comes to collect. Starmer has to be very very careful now. There is enough resentment towards the Labour party about its non action on Gaza and that's NOT JUST FROM THE MUSLIMS.

Criticising the last Tory government for many of its cruel policies is not anti-British. Criticising Putin is not anti-Russian or anti-Christian, criticising Biden or Trump is not anti-American, nor is it anti-Christian either. Criticising Netanyahu and his policies is not anti-Israel, nor is it anti-semitic. And criticising Hamas is not anti-Palestinian, nor anti-Arab, nor anti-muslim. I do care more about Gaza than my own constituency. I don't have to face bodies, blown to pieces, and enmeshed with rubble every time I step outside. Palestinians do. Be it blue, red or green, not much here will change anytime soon, but in Gaza, every moment of every day is subject to deadly change.

The problem with starmer he may win a strong mandate but if anything goes wrong he is going to pick pennies meaning he may start to beg Muslim voter to vote for him if he needs help with the next election.

You can see Starmer's face redden as he was asked the question for the second time when he repeats the "We've got a strong mandate" mantra. Hard to know whether he was embarassed or just getting angry. His record so far would suggest it was the latter.

If I were talking to a normal human, and they answered that question by starting off talking about how they got new voters they never before got, I'd assume he's saying he sought the islamaphobic vote. Politicians are so committed to giving stock answers that make themselves look bad in order to do so

Should politicians promote the sectional interests of any community and affect British foreign policy on religious grounds? This is where identity politics leads, it is pernicious, ultimately it fractures an electorate and we end up voting in ethnic groups. I cannot see those MPs voted in on single issue foreign policy voting progressively about women's issues?

Something that keeps getting missed, is one of the reasons the Gaza situation is so important, is that it tells us quite alot about how our politicians and media would respond if another 9/11 or 7/7 happened. These people have learnt nothing and would do exactly what Israel is doing and what we did with America, murder millions of innocents is some vain attempt at revenge.

A classic example of Starmer's blatantly disingenuous reactions and obfuscation, on Sky News 12 June 2024: Interviewer - Did you mean it when you said Jeremy Corbyn would make a great Prime Minister? KS - I knew we were going to lose that election (in 2019). --- Of course he'd have lost face by giving a truthful answer.

He openly accepts bribes from Israeli lobby groups - no wonder he's so complicit when it comes to Gaza (and by extention British Muslims which to him are a nuisance due to their support of the Palestinian people). It will cost him dearly in the future.

I'm uncomfortable with the term muslim voter, or the muslim vote. Obviously many muslims still voted for labour and other parties. I think the description of those angered by Gaza policies would be more appropriate. Focus on the voters motivations not an ascribed identity.

Why would Gaza be the most important issue for Muslims? Does it benefit the country?
