I've been wearing Keis heated clothing for a few years on my winter rides. Despite being sceptical at first and thinking it was all a bit of a faff and too complicated, I soon learned to love it. In this video I take a look at a couple of key Keis items and run through all you'll need to know when it comes to connecting and using heated clothing.

The single biggest change/impact of my motorcycle "career" was buying heated gear about 20 years ago. It is a total no brainer - turns you effortlessly and comfortably into a genuine all year round rider. And a safer rider to boot, too.

💯 my wife got me a vest about 20 years back. I thought “these are for pussies”. Little did I know that not only was riding much more enjoyable but safer. I run with Gerbing 7v gear which is nice as you can wear it off of the bike. Nice for stopping for fuel or coffee! If you keep a couple spare batteries, you can ride all day in the cold! Also good for outdoor activities when it’s chilly! Ride Safe 🙏🏼

Thats a response that i'd seen a lot of Scott, some 'tough guy' riders see being freezing as a badge of honour. But you're right I think concentration levels are much higher when your at a stable temp.

Have just ordered the new ultraflex jacket and the G701 shorty gloves Tony. Both yourself and Richy Vida seem very impressed with this gear, so looking forward to trying it out. Thank you

I've just got an ultraflex vest to try out, much thinner and lighter than the previous version. Not had a chance to try it yet though.

I have both of these. The jacket is superb - it’s all you need under an outer shell jacket to stay warm, although it is a bit bulky vs some other heated tops I have which limits what it fits under. The sizing is also a bit weird with very short arms in relation to the body size. The gloves just don’t get anywhere near warm enough. On my bikes with heated grips and full fairings it’s not a problem but on my naked bikes and bikes without heated grips my hands start to go numb within half an hour or so and I usually have to stop after an hour to heat my hands up on the engine. My Gerbings and Warm n Safe gloves are noticeably hotter. They do seem to have reversed the connectors vs everything else on the market (i.e. male and female connections are the opposite to everyone else) and although the plugs look the same as Gerbings, etc they are slightly different sizes. Both issues make mixing and matching different manufacturers difficult. Keis definitely make the best quality heated gear and the packaging reflects that. The user experience is great with low profile connections and buttons on the apparel itself to control heat on the move. If they made a thinner shirt and the gloves got a bit hotter I would only use Keis but these shortcomings mean I have different gear for different bikes / jackets.

Got the J505 jacket and the T103 pants, and these are really game changers 👍 Along with the heated seat, the heated grips, just have ton concentrate on the road. Great review!

Sums it up perfectly. As a very occasional winter rider I can't justify the cost but a battery powered jacket has transformed winter activities, and not just bikes, as you say. The one advantage is I can get off the bike and not forget I'm connected to the bike... My Internet waistcoat won't be the same quality as your keys kit but it was under £50 all in with all day battery pack. If I still rode all winter I think I'd have to find the extra. Really topical subject at the moment. Safe, happy travels 👍

Great video I brought the gloves a few weeks ago and like them! I was looking at the jacket? But wondering about which one to get? One was 200 and the one you wearing 225

Cheers John, I've tried both jackets, and the 505 does seem to offer more heat, but to be honest the 501 is really good. As I say in the video i've never felt that it needed more

Its a great feeling, being out on a motorbike on a cold day, but keeping warm with the heated clothing, think the jacket is better than the gloves though.

Yep, agree it simply means you don't even think about it being cold.

Great review Tony. Do you reckon this would work over the top of a Knox armoured jacket (urbane pro) or would the armour spoil the effect of the heating elements. Cheers
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
Hi David, this needs to fit close to get the best results, you might still feel some effects, but its not going to be anywhere nearly as efficient. Its best to wear an armoured outer jacket over it. The only issue with the Rev'it jacket I use is that it doesnt take any back armour.
@mpeo1970
@mpeo1970 Год назад
@mancavemoto does the revit jacket come with any armour at all? I suppose the Knox urbane wouldn’t go over the Kris jacket?
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
Yes it has shoulder and elbow armour. It might do but only if it’s a little baggy. Probably not enough room in the arms
@bikecommuter24
@bikecommuter24 Год назад
That is some smart looking kit. Are the red strips reflective? I notice the Keis gloves are nicely reflective. Technology is great, motorcycle gear has come a long way from using trash bags and waterproofs that don't breathe or those one piece suits that leak at the crotch😆 Even my bicycle rain suit is better than any of my old motorcycle gear.
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
Hi Donald, no the red stripes are just a piece of trim/piping. Yep no more shoving newspapers down the front of your jacket to keep the wind out lol
@howardswd
@howardswd Год назад
Hi, I was looking at these KIES jackets yesterday, so this review is very timely. I have the KNOX armoured shirt and was anticipating using this under the KEIS jacket. Do you think this would work, or does the jacket need to be closer to the body?
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
In my experience the jacket needs to be close fitting to the body. It may work over the armour, but I don’t think it’ll be effective.

Thanks for the review. TBH I've found the Keis sizing to be way out - I've had the G102 liner gloves and currently have the G701 S gloves and I had to go down from my usual large size to small for the the liner gloves and medium for the G701s. Also, I don't think they get warm enough myself, disappointing really. To be fair I tried the Gerbing gloves before the Keis and they didn't feel that warm either. The J501 jacket is great though - no complaints with that one.
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
Thanks for sharing, I've gone down a size in the jacket, but always found the gloves to be spot on. The liners you can get away with going smaller as they need to be really snug.

I always used to wear a BMW electric waistcoat in winter when I lived in England. I can't understand anyone who doesn't at least wear an electrical jacket/waistcoat when it's cold. It cancels winter out. This Keis jacket looks good. Why the silly red stripes?
@mancavemoto
@mancavemoto Год назад
Exactly, 'cancels it out is a good description. The red is a piece of piping to break the jacket up. I like it and I guess it ties in with the brand colours
