I was at one of his last concerts in 82. I was a teen and loved his music. After he sang one of his popular songs, everyone cheered, like teens do at concerts. Keith got upset, stopped performing and preached the rest of the concert. His message was so powerful and it had such an urgency to it. God really convicted many people that day and it impacted me so much. We still Love his music but always focus on the message, JESUS! He’s coming again, be ready!
I vaguely remember a concert in Dallas in the early 80s, too, but, honestly, I don't remember if it was him LIVE, or after his death, like a film of him singing. I THINK it was a film, but I can't be sure. Either way, I remember his message was "go into all of the world". And looking back, I'm not sure I agree with his overseas invitation, the churches here in America are so far from God. But anyway, I think I had all of his cassettes. :-)

I just found out about this man a few days ago.. I was a toddler when he was killed in a plane crash so I've never seen him before. his song "oh Lord you're beautiful" came up on my play list.. . I was moved and speechless.. i couldn't believe that someone had the ability to capture the words of my heart in a song. . . ever since I keep hearing his song in my heart. this man's message and voice belong to God.. I'm learning who this man was here on RU-vid. .. thank u Lord for the true saints who love.. trust and serve you💕

Sadly for us he died in the early 80's. The Christian community was heart broken. He must have completed the work the Lord had for him, for it was his time to go home and be with Jesus Yeshua.
I happened to dial in a couple of 15 year old girls who were STILL excited about Keith Green's ministry and subsequent death.. and this is April 21st 2020 in the middle of the coronavirus scare. That's how powerfully God uses those who are sold out for Jesus.
My wife showed me a song of his a few years ago and I didn't connect. Well, a few weeks ago "Oh Lord You're Beautiful" came on my RU-vid thread. Now, I can't stop listening and crying. We must be as zealous as Keith and we must be connected to our Messiah Yeshua. We must live for Him and Him only.
I saw Keith in concert in 1980. His concert consisted on only 3 songs. Keith had such an incredibly powerful message on being completely sold out for Jesus. It is hard for me to imagine anyone present being profoundly changed that night. It has been 40 years since then and no one has come close to having the impact that Keith had on me. Powerful message beyond comprehension.
I never thought I’d say this, but thank God for RU-vid as it brings other generations to Christ through genuine Christ followers like Keith Green. He loved/loves Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior with such authenticity. You hear it in his amazing music and words, but mostly, you see it in his EYES. Eyes full of the love of Jesus. Keith seemed always to be sensitive to his audience, to reach others for Christ, to inspire, to uplift. God had much bigger dreams for Keith than a secular pop career, and it has succeeded very well, as He gifted Keith with a tremendous talent.

Another great artist who is a lot like Keith Green is Steve Camp who is also a veteran in CCM. I met him person when he did a concert way back in October 1998 in New York. He's really a humble a wonderful guy. He and Keith were very close friends and Keith reminded Steve to never compromise the Gospel. I advise you to look up his songs on RU-vid. You will be blessed.
Today I'm completing 8 years since I was baptized... It's also 8 years since I first listened to Keith's music and about his ministry and it's not a coicidence, in that year I was convinced about my sinfullness, Christ's soverign grace, repentance, and how should a real christian look like (motivations, goals, and then works) and Keith has a big part on that... I'm so thankfull for God's work in his life and in the life of his family, this brother of mine showed me Jesus with his life and lyrics and he still does!

Always loved Keith's talent and his testimony. Back in college, we were passing around free cassettes and tracts. He was an inspiration then, and still is. His death was a surprise, but who thought that messages would be carried and replayed on people's phones. God works in mysterious ways. Trustin' Jesus.

I would have to say, if it wasn't for the loving & giving heart of Keith Green, I probably would not have become a believer and remained "the course" even through today. I led my brother to the Lord and he and I have led nearly 25 members of our extended family to Christ. I even have two boys who have become full-time ministers of the Gospel of Christ. (Keith would be proud) I have studied under many significant ministries, leaders, preachers, churches, in several denominations, but, sad to say, I have had to renounce many their influences from my life for many of them have fallen away from Christ Himself and His solid and simple teachings. Keith Green was that prophet that had caused myself and many to be single-focused in my walk with Christ and to seek to be planted in quality soil in order to produce fruit.

I am praying for you. I believe there are so many reasons to believe that I could start writing and never stop. Of course, there is pain that causes so many to struggle with faith as well, and I totally understand that. There was, without any historical arguments to speak of, a man Jesus who lived and was believed by many to be the Messiah. He claimed to be the only way to God. He either was lying, he was mentally off and believed Himself to be something He was not, or He really is the only way for us to have a relationship with God. If God doesn't exist, there is absolutely nothing more right or more wrong than anything else. Using or hurting someone for our own benefit is equal to sacrificing ourselves for the sake of someone else. The moral argument for God is extremely powerful to me. Hardly anyone can actually believe that there is nothing in the world morally right or wrong. But if there is no Creator, there truly would not be any action more or less right or wrong than anything else. That simply cannot be true. We all know that there is truth and there is evil and there is selflessness. I'm not an expert and I wish I knew more, but there were many witnesses to Jesus's resurrection. There is much evidence that though the Bible was written by many men through many centuries, its themes of God's plan from before the foundation of the world, His holiness, and His love for mankind run throughout 66 books. The more I live, the more I know that this life is passing quickly and this is only a little tiny bit of reality. Jesus's apostles failed Him and ran away when He was arrested and crucified, but at the beginning of the book of Acts, after they saw Him resurrected and understood that this world is worthless compared to Christ, they were filled with so much courage from the Spirit, they thought nothing of their own lives and were almost all martyred. They were not stupid; they were not crazy: They knew there was something so much more than this life and that the message was worth dying for. They went from self-protective attempts to save themselves from the authorities to declaring that they had seen Jesus raised from the dead and that people needed to know Him--no matter what the outcome. The argument for God from creation is powerful to me. Ray Comfort's videos do a good job of showing that creation is so complex that it couldn't have just happened. Our DNA is more complicated than a computer program, but we wouldn't ever believe that a computer programmed itself. The gospel accounts are closely examined in Lee Stroebel's "The Case for Christ," by some very intelligent people. There was a man in that video who looks at court testimony for a living to spot inconsistencies, and he said after studying the accounts he became thoroughly convinced that the testimonies of the witnesses of Jesus were true. Belief and trust can be very challenging, depending on what has happened in our lives. But there are many reasons to believe. Keith Green was inspiring and sincere, but I think the reason we see that is that God's Spirit was active in his life. I have watched recently how Keith came to be a believer and he went through a lot of searching. May God lead you in your search and bless you richly!

He was such a great talent I have a hard time understanding why God but kill him when he was doing so much for the Lord why God took him home I don't understand that I never will under that.
When I have private audience with our Lord one day, I'm going to find out a few things. Mosquitoes, What's up with them? Televangelists and puffy hair? But also Keith Green, and Rich Mullins? Two great songwriters for the kingdom. Both burning flames taken way to early. I'd love to see what they would be doing in the "music industry" today. Loved Keith and his music... so inspirational and moving! It was the first time at that point in my life hearing really good quality music. My only knock on Keith was his emphasis on doing more for God and him setting this unattainable bar of holiness and conviction. It came off many times as less convicting and more condemning I’m sorry to say... I know, I get flak for saying this about him a lot. Agreed. His preaching at times lacked the message of Gods grace, but that is just my opinion. He was a blessing in so many other ways... heck, he was only a Christian for a short time in his young and unfortunately short life! It takes time to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ.
I was not a fan of Keith's music, but he was very and somewhat popular among young Christians, depending on the area. Honestly, I like more a guitar driven sound, but musically he was very, very good, and he preached, too! What impressed me, that I did not know, is how strong a witness he was for the Lord. Too many of you cry out for grace without receiving the conviction of the Holy Spirit. You won't get God's grace. Read on. Grace in the Concordance is undeserved favor, of course, but you need the main definition of this to get undeserved favor. See if you think it lines up with all of God's word, not just the easy way you want to believe. Here it is. Grace is "the divine influence upon the heart, and it's reflection in the life." Is the divine influence upon your heart so it can be reflected in your life? If it is, praise God, but it still is undeserved favor, because we don't deserve to have that. So you see, if you don't have the definition of grace, you don't have God's grace. Here's where the conviction of the Holy Spirit is essential. We're born sinners, so we need deliverance from all sin. I heard a preacher say one day he was praying, and God showed him more than a few of his faults that he wasn't aware of (I guarantee people who knew him closely knew, but you know how we are, stop judging...when we should really take everything to the Lord and say, Am I really that way, or that bad?). He asked the Lord, Why didn't you show me these things before? God told him, You weren't close enough to Me for Me to shine the light upon them (conviction) so you could see them. Don't think conviction is not important, if God can't convict you, you won't change and you are still lost in your sins. Jesus died a horrible death and beatings so vicious, for our sins and you think you are righteous enough to just believe and not change? Ever heard the word hypocrite? Don't give God hundreds of scriptures on what you believe and expect Him to be impressed, when you leave out others scriptures, if only a few. It's the whole word of God we live by. For all you who think grace as you see it is enough because no one can live the Christian life, you're wrong. Here's why...1 John 1:9. Cleansed from unrighteousness, every time you're forgiven, new start every time. Part of the gospel, so is conviction of the Holy Spirit. This is why FEW there be that find the way that leads to life. I have found, my mind can be very sincere when I pray, but I don't really change. But when my spirit is sincere and I pray until I know God has heard me, then I change. This should be every time you realize you don't have at least the peace of God. It all depends on what you want to be, a real Christian, or in name only. Yes, the gate is strait and the way is narrow. Yes, you have to deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow Jesus. From what I read, Keith Green did that. Did he have faults, yes. Did he bring them to Jesus? Hope so. But what matters to you and me, Do we? Colossians chapter 3 for anyone interested, also Romans 8:1-14, Ephesians 2:10, James chapter 2. Oh, you know "your " scriptures, do you know the rest of them. If you don't let God put them together for you, you will end up being deceived, read James 1:22. If we didn't have a sinful nature still anymore as Christians, the Bible would not have any verses concerning it, but it does. We put it to death by obeying God and His word, but it never dies, as in never come back to life in us, so Paul said he put it under. Read and believe all of the Bible, as the Holy Spirit reveals it. In our spirit, we have to believe all of God's words, and act upon them. Only by surrendering our will and ways to Him, and that includes what we think, then we should ask God to show us great and mighty things. Do you know the simple janitor who lived godly in Christ Jesus received great and mighty things in his salvation, whereas the great preacher who didn't receive all of God's word in his life attained nothing, including salvation. We are to live by the whole word of God, and get this...the word He put in our heart and spirit. He is a good Father, right? Perfect, in fact. So don't you think He doesn't want to correct us, like our fathers did? Or whoever had authority over us did? The things that are not seen are known by the things that are seen. It isn't what you do that saves you, but if you don't do anything for the Lord in truth, where is your heart, boastful, or humble. "Oh, I am so humble, look how I am and what I do, how I suffer." No, you aren't. They don't need to hear it, they need to see it. So if you aren't doing God's works, that He put in you, Eph. 2.10, right after Eph. 2:8,9, you flat out are rejecting God's word. Cry out to Him, He will hear. Most of us are not Timothys, so what we come up with in our bible study isn't completely what God means. We should be learning from Timothys, and Pauls, then we will know the truth, if we believe them. Get it right, we are all not pastors. Let the Holy Spirit teach you. After all, He is God. God had it written, and Jesus Christ is the Word of God, Son, too. I believe all of "your" scriptures, but I let God put the rest of the scriptures together with them to get to the truth. Live them, brethren, or you won't make heaven your home. Cry out for mercy ftom your heart and you will receive God's grace. But you can lose God's grace, should you fall away and don't come back. Because God loves you, doesn't mean He will accept you into heaven if you are disobedient to God's word. It's a covenant, not only a testament. God did His part, we are to believe and do, our part to receive the reward, salvation. Believing causes actions in what you believe. It is written all in the Bible. Why have you missed it? Don't doubt God by living sinful, listen to Him, let Him take control of your life, and you will become an overcomer, rejoicing in Him. It took me decades to get there, and I could backslide and lose it, but I never gave up, there was nowhere else to go. Still, every day can be a battle, but victory is found in Jesus, but I only will get it by being in Him, by faith. Get this, obeying what God tells you, is true faith. Ask and you will receive, what is His will for you at that moment. That is where the joy of the Lord is found. We arrive by faith, but it takes a lifetime of growing. No joy of the Lord in that? Keep at it and it will get to you, have faith in God, He can do what we cannot. Want joy? Continually seek God on all things and obey what you know. Continual disobedience robs you of joy...and salvation. Salvation brings joy. Have a made up mind to believe and obey God, but should you slip or fall, 1 John 1:9. If you don't give up on God, He won't give up on you. You have a lifetime to get right, but only in this life, after it's over, judgement is upon you. Heaven or hell. The new Jerusalem or the Lake of Fire. Eternity is irreversible. Get on the glory land way. Any questions, seek out godly believers, churches, you will get God's answers. It will bring grace to your life. The divine influence on your heart and the reflection all can see in your life. All who can see.

Halfway through the concert, after Keith had told everyone in the audience how horrible they were, my friend said, I've seen enough, we need to go. I had to agree with him. I was so sad of what a terrible witness Keith Green was. Yet, after hearing this prophet of God say and act like a 100 percent jerk, and totally turn off my unsaved friend, it was the beginning of me questioning the validity of the claims of the power of the holy spirit to actually change lives. Keith Green's life wasn't changed at all. It was sad, but it did get me out of the cult of Christianity.
@@dmimcg Have you ever in your life said to yourself, "what a complete jerk I am."? I have, and worse. See, it's a matter of being honest with ourselves. We are all sinners if we're unsaved, it's the fallen nature we were born with. If I had been at that concert, and was seeking God, I would have agreed with him, as I was the one ruining my life, not anyone else. If your friend was only curious, I can understand them not wanting to hear that. But if they were seeking God because they were under conviction of sin, they could have acknowledged their sinfulness and gotten saved. Your friend seemed to have what most, if not all, people have that keeps them from surrendering to Christ, some measure of their goodness that they live by and/or on. God says none does good, not one, meaning, all the time. You do bad, you are no longer good, by definition, correct? God knows that, what do we think we're hiding by holding onto our "goodness". I must agree, it is probably condemnation that KG used, not because he wanted to put everyone down, but because he wanted to see the self righteous humble themselves before God, for their own good, not his. We look too often upon people rather than what God means as they are speaking. God would sort it out and tells us what He is trying to say through that person, KG in that instance. Is your friend saved now? If not, they chose the pleasures, and things of this life. No person could keep me from salvation when I earnestly sought the truth and believed it was only found in Him once I heard and was convinced. We can never blame anyone else for our decisions, truly, in the perfect sense. Yet, I believe becoming a true Christian is the only thing we cannot be forced to become, because it is impossible to live as one without the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which means acknowledging , in God's sight how bad we really are. It's humility to be able to do that. It sounds like KG was trying to get that across, imperfectly, maybe, but the intent, sounds pure, based on what the little I've read on him says. It does not make Keith Green a wicked sinner to say it in condemnation rather than conviction, it doesn't mean he didn't change. He wasn't a perfect preacher. Who is? He did change in his life, to all accounts. Saying things that offend is not a benchmark for being unsaved. That's how he saw it and he wasn't far off. Many preachers today only say nice things, encouraging things, and leave out the repent part and all the reasons why we should repent. They are not even right with God. KG, while some say in these forums that he didn't preach repentance, he was living it, to all appearances. God knows his heart. He was much closer than the preachers I wrote of above. He should have had an altar call, and probably should have softened the prior words by saying something like, For as bad as we are, God still loves us, and wants us to be in heaven with us. We can do this through Jesus Christ. In the end, we alone make our decision. I pray you have for Christ. KG is already gone and whatever his judgement was, God is never wrong. What good it if we're right about others and wrong about ourselves? Some fathers treat their children too rough, but mean the best for them. Only God our Father does it perfect for all of us. We are still children, and if we won't take correction, well, you know what the Bible says about that. When we humble ourselves before God, we can humble ourselves before people more, even though they may make mistakes, even continuously. This is not the life that God has for true Christians for eternity. The Bible has all our answers. Believe God, He never lies.

Not only was Keith showing NO SIGNS of any fruits of the Holy Spirit, he was more of an asshole than my friend who wasn't even saved. Yeah, what about that one bro? Wake up. You are deluded. If God was real, would see the power of the Holy Spirit all over the world today from the BILLIONS of claimed Christians. Doesn't the bible also say, in Matthew 18:20 that where two or more Christians ask ANYTHING in the name of Jesus it shall be granted? Every pray with others for the healing of a sick believer and instead of that person getting better watch him die? yeah, ooops..BULLSHIT AGAIN. I get it. It's nice to believe things that make you feel good. Doesn't make it real. The Bible PROVES Keith WAS NOT A REAL CHRISTIAN.
This is how Christian ministers need to preach, teach, and sing... by pouring out their heart and delivering their soul. It is wrong thinking to believe that since the world is changing therefore our method must change. I wish more Christians were broken and surrendered to God as Keith was.
For the longest time after I was born again, there was Keith Green and then there was everyone else. I didn't need to listen to any other music. Now I do, but still...there is Keith Green, and then there's everyone else.

However, if you never read another book in yr life (besides the Bible of course). Then I encourage to you to purpose in yr heart to read the book about Keith's life called, "No Compromise"! It will, not only Bless yr socks off! It will, if you let it, encourage you to, want to follow our Lord with unbridled passion. I went to one of his concerts in January of 81 in Battle Ground WA.. He was at one point, on his knees, crying, literally, praying God would wake a room full of belieers out of our lethargy. I can still hear it. AS I watched him, I knew he would not be on this earth much longer. I thought to myself that no one can carry a burden like that for long. There was such a sense of urgency. I never told anyone what I knew. I didn't want to believe it. Tears still come to my eyes sometimes when I hear him sing. I found out a few years after his death that quite a few people sensed it as well. When I read his wife's biography of him, I discovered that she had essentially the same experience.
Wow that's amazing. I've heard of those things before, so I totally believe what your saying. God really blessed us with the short time we had Keith Green, and the fact we can still listen and watch archival footage of him, is such a massive blessing.
I so miss him... - his zeal helped me to grow in the Lord; I was born-again after Keith & Melody..., in 1983. Keith Green's preaching, teaching, & music [Melody's music too] style is one of a kind & the heart of the Lord is on this Ministry! Thank you Melody for continuing to make Keith's material available for fans both old & new! The anointing on his music and messages is just as strong today as it was in the 80's.... I’ve never looked into Keith Green’s life until today. I was born in 1987 and this is my genre of music. I appreciate his zeal and complete love for Jesus and I know without a shadow of doubt that God was very pleased with him. May I have the same but a double potion of the spirit that fell on Keith Green and William Branham.

I have been a born again Christian for over 40 years and to this day I still listen to Keith’s songs. His songs still preach to me. I was just a baby Christian (born again Oct. ‘79) when I first heard about Keith Green and Melody. It was around Jan. of ‘82 when a friend of mine at work introduced me to Keith. He gave me a bunch of articles that Keith had written. They were were very interesting so I asked my neighbor (who planted the seed and was my Christian mentor) about Keith. He told me a lot about him and gave me a cassette with about 20 of Keith’s songs on it. When I listened to his songs they immediately impacted my life as a Christian. I loved every one of his songs so much that I wouldn’t listen to any other Christian music for quite a few years. Then I immediately went out and bought all his cassettes. A few years later after Keith went home to be with The Lord, I bought the 4 CD collection of all his songs and his book, “No Compromise.” They preached and taught me about God’s Word. I would sing and worship Jesus with his songs. Even though I was told by my wife and kids that my voice was very lousy, I knew that God was listening to my heart. Yes, it was a sad day when Keith died but also a happy day because Keith went to be with the Lord. I’m sure that The Lord told him well done my son. As you can see by the many comments that have been made, The Lord still uses Keith’s music to bring lost people to Him. So Keith’s work was finished on earth but his music still plays on. Amen, Amen!! Love you my brothers and sister!!
I am watching in March 2021. I played his music when working part-time in Christian radio. Was his Charleston, WV crusade director. He died a week prior to coming to Charleston I that plane crash. He was a gift from God to us.
It’s really sad Keith’s is gone. Really sad he was taken so soon. There was such a spirit of passion and truth in his heart. Very few Christian musicians have this Spirit now. Just not the same feeling anymore. Too much self now. Not enough Jesus!
You nailed it, I don't feel any spirit moving with Christian artists these days either. I was 12 years of age when I discovered Keith and he died 3 years later. Christian radio needs to play his songs again Keith revisited...😊
Have you tried listening to Steve Camp? His songs are truly Christ centered and very scriptural. He was also a very good friend of Keith Green. Keith also advised Steve to never compromise the Gospel, which unfortunately some of today's CCM artists do just to get more publicity. Steve Camp was devastated when Keith Green died in that plane accident.
Keith Green had tremendous talent---just listen to the piano playing alone and then you add the message------you can not beat it.Thank you Lord God for Keith Green's testimony! It still ministers to my heart all these years later!
As a young Christian in college, I was really challenged and encouraged by Keith Green's music. I got the chance to see him live at Anaheim Convention Center. I even played his song to my mother about Keith wanting his parents to become a true Christ-follower.
One of a kind. He had such a huge impact on me as a kid. I saw him perform in St. Louis when I was 14. His songs were so original. Even today, there is nothing like his music. All he needed was a piano to set the gospel on fire in many hearts!
Keith Greens music and ministry have been so influential in my life back in the 80's like no other. His message of the gospel pierced to the heart and edified everyone that listened to his music. Going through trials and tribulations I always had his music to lean on and help me center my focus on Christ and the work he did on the cross!
Keith Green is one messenger I feel is timeless. I still listen to his music today. I was born again in 1996 an he was one of the first Christian musicians I heard about. This video was done not long before he was killed in July of 1982.
