I know. Keef seemingly only mentions Brian when the interviewer brings him up. I am surprised Howard didn’t interject, as any moderate Stones fan knows Brian named the band during a phone call.

Problem is-Howard probably didn’t know the full story. Many ‘moderate’ Stones fans don’t know that Brian came up with the band’s name during a phone call. Many of those fans don’t know the early history of the band all that well

Re. the name: I am a similar age to them (Oz) and as an older child I used to be sent a Pommy cartoon paper that was popular at the time. It contained a fair few serialised cartoon stories and one of them was about a circus family called “The Rolling Stones”. This would have been mid to late 1950’s.
