Hey Rummy, just wanted to say thanks for everything you do, I always enjoy seeing a video of yours in my feed. And actually for a university assignment, I made a boxing blog site and actually mentioned yourself in it. Keep up the great work.
idk if Rummy knows what he means to simple minded simpletons like myself… but goddamn, each new video is like a birthday present. long live Rummy and his whole damn corner!
I was born in Sydney but grew up here in the USA. I'll Never forget watching Tszyu KO Judah in front of all my Yanky Mates (American friends). I agree but I do think Keith is going to be the biggest test for young Tim! They've managed to carry on that Eastern European crushing and battering style!
I agree with Rummy that Brian Mendoza was Tim's toughest test to date, I believe Brian Mendoza on fight night was in great shape and that being said I don't think Keith will the endurance Brian had in that fight. So Tim for the win 🏆
Different level, lol. All those PBC guys, Thurman, Cherry, Porter, and Spence, were Top B level fighters with Spence and Thurman being the best outta the bunch. Thurman probably would've beat Spence if he wasn't under Haymon's protection plan, but who knows.
HBO was class, especially in the early years. But I had a soft dpot for Showtime, and their Friday night Showbox was fantastic. They even held one here in the Cayman Islands with a young upcoming fighter called Andre Ward.
You are right! The trio of Lampley, Merchant, and Foreman was my favorite, but Barry Tompkins and Sugar Ray Leonard with Merchant were excellent, too. I liked when Steve Albert and Bobby Czyz called the fights on Showtime.
Monster??? This slow-footed cave man has a suspect resume and has never faced anyone as skilled as Thurman. My only worry about Keith is stamina after 6-7 rounds, but that wasn't a problem against Barrios.
I agree, Thurman has fought a much better roster of fighters but he's been out for a while and never really seemed to recover from the Pacquiao loss. He's always struck me as a fighter who tends to overthink things.
Tszyu is one of the most exciting young fighters right now, but I've been a Thurman fan for so long it's impossible for me to leave his corner now. Unfortunately, I think your prediction is probably spot-on. Still gonna screamin' for One-Time to pull off the upset.
There are rumors the show might not even be happening due to their financial issues and losing the Showtime deal. But it wouldn’t have been much of a fight. Tszyu fought 3 times last year alone. Thurman has been injury prone, and has only fought once since July 2019, nearly 5 years ago!
Charlo has no flavour any more. The way he fought Canelo. Lost what little respect I had for him. They should take the rest of his straps and he can fk right off.
@jaahnnn ? Usain Charlo has not stopped running from Tim, so Usains title was stripped because he chose the Canelo cash, rather than get flogged by Tim. So the belt @GUkid is talkin bout is the solid unanimous Win/Defence against Brian Mendoza, who all the spurts said would wipe Tim out? That's why most good judges are comin on board Tims Train to all 4 belts. Jus sayin cuz.
Tzsyu could possibly go all the way and clean out the division. If he does that he might be the first son to become an undisputed champion along with his father. Tim fights in a similar fashion to his father; who only lost to Vince Phillips and Ricky Hatton. His father was a three time champion, including undisputed after folding Zab Judah in Round 2 around year 2000, in the three belt era. Kostya (who campaigned @ 140 his entire career ‘92 - ‘05) failed to fight Gatti and/or Ward which, at the time left fans truly disappointed as there were opportunities. Tim has yet to be truly tested-he hasn’t faced a true killer in the ring yet, especially a high volume pressure fighter. I‘d love to see him fight Madrimov ( who fights next weekend for the WBA strap ), or Vergil Ortiz Jr - now that would definitely be a barn burner.
@@paulchamberlain8355 I genuinely think y'all giving Thurman way too much credit. Maybe if he was active, but 4 fights in 7 years, not fought in 2 and moving up a class? No way. I'll be here to eat my words if I'm wrong, but the odds are severely against him
I think if Thurman can't stop Tszyu, he can't beat him. And Thurman is not known as a knockout puncher, he is more of a boxer/puncher. With his inactivity, age, ring rust and size disadvantage, I can't see Thurman winning if the fight goes the distance.
Keith Thurman has to turn back the clock AND do the unexpected for his game plan. It's hard to write him off because of his pedigree which is why this is a great fight. He's either gonna turn in the performance of his career or possibly get KOd. I'm rooting for Keith but I agree that Tszyu has this one by stoppage.
Inactivity has been proven to be a curse. Cringey Keith is better off fighting the insufferable Claressa Shields. Tim has already defended his title so the real email champs are Boots and Tank.
Y'all need to get that inactive shit out your dam minds, Thurman been in gym training this whole dam time, just cause he hasn't been in the ring Do Not means he hasn't been training or sparring crazy, Thurman going be up in this fight, Thurmans wants to shet you haters up!! And be in line for either Charlo or Bud.
Thx Rummy! I think it'll be a good fight for about 5 rounds bc Thurman is a tough skilled fighter even at 35 but Tim is a younger and way more active pressure guy who'll wear him down and probably catch him over and over until it ends like maybe the 9th or 10th.. Keith was a Fun guy to watch in his day!
The fact that Rummy, despite giving the best motivations about a result, he almost never gets it, is the demonstration this is a wonderful sport. Nothing is written until a match is over. :)
I think this fight goes the distance, Thurman is too quick, has very good power and has too much experience to get taken out. I don't like giving Tszyu an extra pound thought and that might be enough of an advantage to get a Tszyu a decision but don't count One Time out!
Thurman is Tszyu’s best opponent to date. The inactivity is unfortunate, Thurman looked real good imo against Barrios (now the #7 Ring magazine welterweight contender). This is a solid fight imo.
Rummy, im struggling to understand why you havent touched on the tyszu fundora fiasco, with all of your content so good and your opinion so damn respected, its getting mighty hot and uncomfortable to see you so quiet with a fight that offered so much contraversial subject matter. The internet was abuze before and after the fight with it trending multiple times. Your take on this fight is warranted and quite frankly needs to be put out there in the open to help keep this sport we love as honest as it can be, and heading in the right direction. Cheers
Another good analysis Rummy. I agree Thurman looks overmatched in this one but I thought he would lose to Barrios so what do I know? Thurman is a clever boxer and Tim is a bit one-dimensional like his father but that one dimension is very effective. If Thurman can cleverly outbox him and last the distance then maybe he can squeak a decision?
If Keith tries to take Tim out to the deep water Keith is either getting drowned or lost at sea. Especially if tszyu catches up with him on the ropes, it's going to get ugly for Keith last time Thurman.
Keith Thurman have since his prime in 2017 only boxed 3 fights in 7 years (!) NON in 2018. 2 fights in 2019, along with his defeat to veteran Manny Pacquiao and his "recent" fight was in Feb. 2022 = 2 tears ago. The guy wasted his once promising career and is now up for a final pay-day.
i admire Kieth being brave to face the man in s higher division who s a champion unlike gervonta and those in super lightweight like Haney, Garcia,Lopez,Romero and others who had built couldn't challenge against Subriel Matias...
Though I have gotten so tired of Thurmans inactivity, still I really like this match up. I think it'll be a great fight early on, but I also see Tyzyu stopping him as well later on.
Tim is a huge Super Welterweight and Thurman needs to come up 10lbs. He will be coming in maybe 5lb more on fight night? 10? But Tim will be at least 20lb more easily. He has also remained very active where as Thurman has not fought in 2 years and only 4 times in the last 7 years. Thurman is also 6 years older, but they have similar dimensions. Thurman was rocked badly against Lopez who is a blown up Lightweight and Pacquiao, who was well past his best. He also doesn't know how to survive, he just keeps backing up. I genuinely think he could get stopped in any round. I'd think the best value would be between 5-8
Thurman's inactivity hurt him for sure. He could have rode the momentum after the Pac fight but chose to sit back and enjoy his newfound riches. The hardest thing in boxing is ring rust. Your timing is just a microsecond too slow and will take time to regain your cardio. As long as Thurman has been doing his running and keeping fit, we all know at the highest levels it comes down to who is in better shape; if you can last 12 rounds and not sucking wind, you are going to have a great chance at winning
What's wrong with your brain? Is it infested with worms? 😂😂 An old legend with underdog status, up against a young brash champion with hall of fame blood in his viens. Stallone should sue both of them for stealing his storyline.
Rummy, thanks for all that you do. But there are rumors, due to the current financial uncertainty within PBC, that the show may be on the verge of cancellation and this card may not happen in March, if not at all.
11 fights against who? (Tszyu) The best Tim has had was against an already-conquered-before Harrison. If Thurman comes in top shape, he'll defeat Tszyu, especially if Tszyu thinks he can KO him. Thurman is an illusive boxer when in top shape, something Tszyu is not used to.
Looks like a banger match I 100% agree with you on this one, though its closer than most people think its going to be, but i'm taking Tim by stoppage if this match goes to judges either way I'll be surprised, but anything is possible in the great sport of boxing.
Keith Thurman’s inactivity is ridiculous. For the last 5 years we have heard him way too much, without seeing him. Press conference was more foolishness from KT…
