CRS 2017's Annual UMG Luncheon Keith Urban was joined by label mates Chris Stapleton and Vince Gill at the end of "Blue Ain't Your Color" closing out the luncheon will an unforgettable moment! Music (c) UMG
@Joseph A. Ammond oh BROTHER. Keep Eric Claptons name out of your mouth if your intentions are to insinuate that hes a class below Vince Gill. Like give me a freaking break. Eric clapton put a guitar in an entire generations hand and they wanted to be HIM. Not vince gill. Shut that up. Keep it to yourself if you think thats true. Vince gill is an ant and Eric is a giant for perspective.
They show vince respect when he comes on stage and vince probably felt honored to be on stage with them. They are having a blast. And we reap the benefits.
Once again Vince comes on stage looking like someone’s dad who heard someone attempting to play a guitar. In he walks, says to his kid “here, hold dad’s beer, I gotta go show ‘em something.”
I was in the Denver airport a few years back killing time by people watching. Off in the distance I saw a middle aged guy in a Colorado sweatshirt, old guy white NB tennis shoes with an acoustic guitar strapped to his back headed my way. I thought to myself that here was a middle aged guy still trying to hang onto the dream of playing music for a living and thought what a struggle that must be. After I had processed all this he got close enough for me to figure out it was Vince Gill. He was just cruising through the airport and everyone was ignoring him because they were all staring at their phones. And I felt like an idiot 😎
@@randyparker1942 I think everyone else were the idiots. lol The world is passing many by because of the cell phones and what a shame that is. Vince Gill seems like an ordinary type of guy and that's pretty cool!! ;o)
I would agree. I think "Joe Public" does not appreciate his abilities. Hell, many laymen music fans also don't understand the level of musicianship of Brad Paisley as well.
Brad Koss Maybe you can answer my question. What type of guitar does each man play? I was just curious & no one has been able to answer my question. Each has its own sound & Im just very curious as to what each man prefers. For instance, Chris' guitar sounds way lower than the other 2. A very distinct sound indeed & it appears that the neck of his guitar is longer as well but not for sure, it may just be the way he is standing. Thank you!
@@d.b.4201 Chris Stapleton is playing a Fender Jazzmaster, Keith Urban is playing a Fender Telecaster, and Vince is playing the Fender Stratocaster. As the name implies for the Jazzmaster it was originally marketed by Fender towards jazz guitar players, but found a niche market in the "surf rock" (think early Beach Boys) of the early 60's. If you google each guitar by name Wikipedia can give you a better history. You can also look on the Fender website, as each guitar is still made today. Hope this helps.
Brad Koss Wow! Thank you so much! My fave is James Burton & I think his is a Tele as well. Each have their unique sound depending on the player as well!
@@d.b.4201 I'm not familiar with James Burton so I just looked him up, and yes you are right he plays a Tele. You are also right about the sound, depending on the player and the equipment they use there are a lot of unique and different sounds that can be gotten from each guitar.
Brad Koss Thank you so much! I just love listening to all the different ones. James Burton wrote the guitar licks to the song "Suzi Q". That sound is HIS sound, that twang at the end, thats ALL James! I cant believe you know guitars but didn't know who James Burton is! He is a Genuine LIVING LEGEND!! Seriously. (A very humble man too!) Elvis Presley could have had ANYBODY he wanted back in the day, he asked who was the BEST & he got James Burton!! If you ever watch Elvis' live performances & you listen close, Elvis often said, "Play it James!" 😉(His hands are just so fast!) James is in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & Rock-a-Billy & the Musician's Hall of Fame & museum. In fact James Burton is the very first person Fender ever made a signature guitar for!! He is also listed on Rolling Stones list of Greatest Guitar players of ALL time! His home town even erected a statue in Honor of him! If you ever get to see him play, go! You wont regret it! Chances are, you have heard James but just didn't know it!! He has played for the BEST, at their request! 👍 Im glad I got to introduce you to him & return the favor of you being so kind & answering my questions! Thanks so much for the info & chat. God bless!!
Easy to see how Keith really really loves to play the guitar. Vince is just an exceptional musician. His guitar licks are sweet finesse and some of the best musical creativity there is in ANY genre. Chris is a songwriting singing master. This trio was a great moment in music.
Amen brother...I've always thought of Vince as the GOAT of country guitarist (and in the top 5 of all genres) Keith is greatly underrated as a guitarist too, but when you play beside Vince it's hard to even sound competent at the instrument...
Thank you great fan. you can send me a message on Gmail Vincegill4242@gmail.com I promise to give responses back. I guess is a little way of showing my fans appreciation. I am in for meet and greet. Thank you
I could and would listen for days! These 3. Vince Gill was my first lesson in making strings sing. Keith Urban is like HoNEY! Chris Stapleton is like fireworks! MORE PLEASE!!!
People looked at me like I was nuts at an Eagles concert when I told them Vince Gill was the best guitar player on that stage. And the Eagles really hired him for his singing. The guy is crazy talented, but worked hard at his craft.
This is absolutely true. And there were some pretty good pickers and singers in the Eagles before Vince joined. He plays with little ego, sings wherever they want him, plays little lead guitar, a great group member. But count up the Grammys on that stage - 21 for Vince, 6 for the Eagles.
Keith is literally "dancing for joy" at the end, thanking the two great masters for playing on stage with him. Made me LOL with happiness for them all!
Vince can play pretty much anything with strings... His stock in trade is not the flashy, overdone stuff, but "only what's needed, no more, no less, just perfect!". He's got nothing to prove, and he's not afraid to let his stagemates take center stage.
Exactly he knows exactly what to play when to play and when not to . I had the chance to see him twice . There isn't too many players to make Vince look shabby
Vince learned at the feet of the master Chet Akins, he paid attention and has been one of the best for along, long time. He’s playing for the love of playing, any genre, any time. I enjoy listening to Keith and Chris as well, they’ve got skills and the love to be great.
Way cool to watch three masters of their craft bring several distinctly different interpretations of this amazing song. But I especially enjoyed the fusion of all their guitars creating a glorious harmony! I'd love to see more of this kind of thing.
What hair raising stuff. Vincent has always been underrated. The 3 together is sensational. Every up and coming guitar player needs to see this 1000 times.

There's a boatload of talent on that stage. So many country musicians seem to be multi-talented and so well-practiced in their craft that they can sound amazing live, unlike so many pop groups. Not knocking other genres - there are certainly great talents in pop and rock like Slash and Prince, but not many have the musicianship you find in a garden-variety bluegrass band.

Dave Crowder When it comes to playing guitars, Vince Gill is just the best. This video didn't show much of him, but other videos on RU-vid do. When he plays the acoustic guitar, he makes it sing. Vince is not a show off, because he is humble, but that man can play.
Just so cool. Amazing talent in one room, and I have to say, I love that Keith is clearly enjoying the hell out of it. His passion and joy for music always shows. Glad someone so appreciative gets to play with his idols and the true masters.
Really amazing talent on one stage. I must admit Vince Gill is the master, he has such a clear voice on the guitar and loves playing! Enjoyed hearing these three collaborate so beautifully!
Both Chris and Keith know they are on the stage with greatness. Love watching them appreciate eachother. Such talent and great sound.....Toothpaste for the soul.
Jim Deeds Gym For The Soul truly he is one of the best ever. The only reason a lot of people don’t know is he happened to play country music on his guitar, will never take anything from the great guitar players in the history of country, but in general when you think of great guitar players people think rock. Hell the only reason a lot of people know about Vince or other great country guitarist (past or present) is because of RU-vid.
Love them all and yes Vince Gill the unsung hero up there next to Keith Urban who is a absolute great musician. I mean just being able to watch these three is a super treat. 🎸🎶
Put this on... Light a stogie Drown sorrows in scotch... Love the talent... Express yourself... And be as good as smooth as Tennessee whiskey... And sweeeeeeettttt as strawberry winnnnnnnneeeeeeeee...........
I have always loved Vince Gill but now I also love Chris Stapleton. I never really thought much of Keith urban until I went to his concert he is truly amazing and has a great concert! One of the longest concerts I've ever been to!
I have seen them all live several times each. SO MUCH TALENT! Hard to pick a favorite. They are so uniquely wonderful. I wish I saw this one live. Heaven!
I’m so glad to have you as a fan of mine, i would love us to talk more on hangout you can drop your email address to know more about your thoughts?? and advise for me thank you ?
I have read a lot of comments on here arguing who is the best. I say there are MANY underrated guitar players in country music. I saw Vince in Indianapolis just a couple nights ago and was immensely impressed with his show. He is an entertainer, a damn good one. Country guitar? Chet Atkins? Tommy Emmanuel? Lee Roy Parnell? Glen Campbell? Vince Gill? Roy Clark? Brad Paisley? They are/were all superb as are many others! Vince is so humble in his show, the storytelling, and songs from the depths of his soul...absolutely delightful.

My dad deceased several years ago. Vince Gills song Go Rest High On That Mountain was sang as the viewing by a family member of ours. Vince Gill, you are a great artist/musician. Through the years I gave it all I had to give. Miss my father every day and going on without him has been a real struggle. The struggle is real, always has been. Here's to Keith Urban
Love me big Vince. He makes his guitar speak. Laugh. And cry. But I gotta say. Chris has a style that I just cant get enough of. Oh man. Do I love this man
What a gift to have these three legends on stage just having fun like this PRICELESS!!...Vince Gill..Arguably the best Guitarist in country music since the Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Jerry Reed Era Comes out and says OK You Young Bucks I gonna pull out a few things gonna make you boys just stop and watch me in awe for a few minute then I will fade off into the sunset and pass you boys the torch. Since Chris & Keith are probably the best since Vince. You saw it on Vince's last solo @4:10 they both just stopped and sat back a moment and took it in they are both great but also both humble and know they were watching greatness. I loved the moment Chris was watching him then kind of just put his hands on his neck as to say hmm how'd he do that I wanna do that I am learning by watching haha Much respect to all 3 of these guys!
Vince is the master here, but Keith's run at 1:45 flat made me think BB King had come back to play blues guitar for us again. What an amazing performance by all three guys. Thanks for sharing.
Chris and Vince are two of my all time favorite singers. Vince is also one of my all favorite pickers period. Seen him in person twice and what a blessing those were.
If this shows one thing it’s simply that Keith Urban is the real deal. If your a player and close your eyes and listen, you can literally hear Urban and his distinctive sound being leagues ahead. Playing with showmanship, and pure talent, and knowledge, you get the verocity and range that is Keith Urban. He even controls the tempo half way threw by slowing down the drummer so Vince Gill can finish the song on the up beat climatic hoorah. Wow. Just wow. I’m sold on Keith Urban.
This isn't shredding, but a very tasteful little jam. There's doesn't appear to be any competition going on here. Let there be no mistake. Everyone on that stage is talented.
Agreed. Well said my friend. They need to respect each other's talents and styles always. Like Clapton, always humble and never considers himself great.
