I’m already seeing some very odd takes and I need to say this. No one is above being abused. No one. You can vet a man for years, finally give him a chance, and he turns on you. The fact is people are multi-faceted and can change with every life experience. While I don’t agree with Keke dating and having a baby with this man in a short period of time, I also know how easily someone can make you feel loved and also devalued in the same breath. The onus is always on a woman to choose better but the reality is simply dating any man puts you at risk of abuse. Because patriarchy and the socialization of the male gender upholds some very dangerous ideologies. Sending love her way and to anyone who has been abused and made to feel like you didn’t do enough. ❤

I really hate that you’ve experienced this. I believe your content threatens many narratives and that scares people. It’s scary to think that despite your best efforts, sometimes shit goes terribly wrong for no good reason. So people have to make you the problem instead of accepting life is messy af and oftentimes things are out of our control. Steph, You apologize or justify yourself a lot. You are allowed to make mistakes, talk through things in the medium you want, and stand in your story. The experiences you had ached you and oversharing was a part of your healing. Let it rest now without apologizing for who you were then. @yourmotherhatesyou641 Ageism definitely plays a part, it probably plays the biggest part like Steph mentioned - people are more forgiving of a 24 years old having a messy dating life than they are of a 38 year old. There's this expectation that you shouldnt being dealing with that in your late 30's. Your commentary on why Keke stayed in the relationship despite the abuse is kinda foul and borderline victim-blamey. And you using your experience with abuse to ask why she didn't behave the same way as you??? It was giving, "well I escaped my abuser why can't you?" Because abuse is a cycle and it's stepwise and it's manipulation. It takes women 5-6 attempts to leave before they actually do because they have been beaten down emotionally (and in this case physically) to believe that that's what they deserve. It doesn't matter if they have as much power as Keke Palmer or as little as regular non-famous women in your community. I'm really disappointed in you, Steph. Especially when you have shared stories of being manipulated and led to believe that you were cared for and safe with men. You should know more than anyone how hard it can be to realize the person you are with is not who you thought they were.

I totally understand why you’re going a different route with your channel, Stephanie. You’re multitalented and deserve to discuss multiple topics that interests you. Us as viewers have to understand your boundaries. I’m not as big as you, but content creation should be a safe space. Regardless if you do not like the content, the creator, or both. The issue is some viewers get a little too comfortable being a hater. As for the Darius and Keke Palmer situation… I’m happy that Keke and her mother are speaking out. Sarunas Jackson sure is messing up his reputation for siding with his little brother. Even if that’s your brother, wrong is wrong. Plus, his actions are affecting his nephew as well🤷🏾‍♂️💯
@christiep04
@christiep04 10 месяцев назад
I kinda feel like the first 75% (!) of this video should be a different one. The thumbnail and order of the title make it seem like Keke will be the focus of this rather than the “wrap up.” Keke Palmer’s situation goes into *literal domestic violence* (even calling it “toxic” might be an understatement) and I don’t quite think leading into that with you navigating content creation is appropriate here. Like not upset personally or anything, but this combo is a little odd lol. And then when we get to the opinion, it’s like…Steph, anyone can be abused even Keke Palmer. Anyone. I’m glad you recognized that statistic that violence often starts from these types of “men” through major changes (children; marriage and financial issues can also spark it). “It makes me wonder what she saw growing up that she would think that would be okay” Huh???? ¿¿¿Qué???Women with healthy households can still end up in physically abusive partnerships because at the end of the day the *aggressor* is the one choosing to be violent. Cycles start somewhere. Your sort of survivorship bias getting out of a verbally abusive relationship doesn’t mean Keke didn’t try to get out before (leaving a physically abusive relationship is one of the most life threatening times for abused women), it doesn’t mean that her past or own family made her think it was okay. I don’t mean to be rude but you spent 37 minutes of a video meant to be about a celeb alerting us to domestic violence talking about yourself and the internet. Then we get to the discussion and there’s not much you add except to wonder about how her childhood made her “think this was okay” and how that it’s “sad.” This was a bit of a baffling video. You don’t want to talk about the personal, but you spent a video doing just that when the topic you presented as the focal point would have kept you from that?

@christiep04
@christiep04 10 месяцев назад
@@beewest5704…I literally say in the *second* sentence of that comment “order of the title” so the title was read. The title (and thumbnail) made it seem as though at least a decent amount of Keke would be discussed in this video. Five minutes, ten, even fifteen of this video being about her content creation difficulties could be expected here. Even weaving it throughout her Keke discussion would have made sense. Only 12 minutes of nearly 50 minute video is about Keke and her abusive relationship. And I clicked this video hoping to hear about Keke and Steph’s internet journey at least in equal measure. And it’s amazing how now because she dealt with people bullying and stealing her content that now you all will now equate any criticism (where all some are asking is “maybe your discussion of your internet journey shouldn’t take up 75% of a video that includes domestic violence; maybe it could be separate or a take up less space) is suddenly the same.

I did not believe their lovey dovey thing for one second. His doubling down and previous tweets were just too telling. Her restraining order report of his abuse is horrifying to me though. I wonder if the other women he was with before her can attest to his behaviour. I thought she was hiding him to be private but now I'm thinking she would never have showcased him if the child hadn't arrived. I don't know if she will be safe with him roaming free. He needs to be behind bars.

I think she put up the front because she wanted a family for her child and to avoid public baby mama shame. I went through the exact same thing. It’s very hard to leave with a new baby.

That is why men like these get you pregnant quickly so that it's more difficult for you to leave & they can use the baby as a weapon for you to stay. And society plays into that by referring to single moms as the least desirable.

You were telling an uncomfortable truth about dating that still needs to be told. Everybody doesn't get a romantic happily ever after. A lot of ageing church girls have similar stories about fertility, loneliness, and unexpected singleness at a particular stage in life. The attack isn't really against you but the shattering of the fantasy that life gets easy, breezy after 30. As a former teacher, I also connected with the financial constraints that limit travel and socializing in places where suitable partners might be hiding. 😁 Your perspective has more impact than the younger girls which is why they don't get attacked. You are a disruptor who intelligently articulates the secret struggles of a lot of women. You were once brave enough to put your authentic self out there and tell your stories. Instead of retreating, hopefully you can embrace that fearlessness once again.

She explained the effects of what telling personal stories had on her personal life and you’re STILL pushing her to do so. I will be the first to say I miss her original channel setup with the personal story times, but after hearing and seeing how disgusting she was treated how people slandered her name on the internet, I would never want her to go back to creating that type of content. She is a real person. Steph doesn’t have to create vulnerable content just so we feel “seen” at her own expense.

Im sorry about the bullying you have experienced online, thats unacceptable. As for your Keke take: "why Keke thought she had to accept that"...being in an abusive relationship ISNT accepting it, thats an uninformed take. She DID do something about it, she LEFT and took the legal route! Also please don't post videos and photos of her abuse, that's disgustingly disrespectful and retraumatizing. Someone elses abuse should not be used as shock content. Thats so degrading and unfair to the victim. Please reflect on this

But she got pregnant after the abuse….so sadly she did accept it a bit. It’s hard to get out of abusive relationships but she could have prevented the pregnancy. The first camera shot was from Feb 2022.

You really didn’t deserve all that hate you described in this vid!! You’ve been through so much omg stop asking her to go back to that! I love your storytelling and I support you because I see myself represented in you and your stories. I’m 30 and I’ve been in really similar situations as you so your vids provided real comfort! I hope your comment sections and content on the net pushes out all those hateful people, with only supporters remaining! Stay the course! And maybe think about accepting stories from other black women who would rather have you narrate! I feel like the reality tv content viewers are too pathological atp. I love your charming and positive spin on unfortunate situations. You’ve shared enough of your own tho!!

Just started but I want to say that the GRWMs are some of my favourite videos of yours! That, the try-ons and any vlog style videos. It's really fun to see you in a more casual setting. edit: I'm definitely one of the viewers who preferred your story-times but I really think it speaks the entitlement and the expectations we have online to be engaged/stimulated constantly. It shouldnt take you explaining yourself and your decision to step back every few months for those of us that came because we enjoyed your previous content, to respect your boundaries. It's absolutely awful the lengths people have gone to harass you but honestly even without the justification, I just wish you saying that you didn't feel like it anymore would've been enough. Wishing you love, light and a good ending to the year. 🙏🏾

When you compared yourself with some other prolific black women story time RU-vid creators I instantly thought of lifewithsymone and sure enough you tagged her. I think there are probably several reasons why your channel gets targeted more than other similar content. These other content creators tend to be more on the entertainment side, even though many of their stories have probably significantly impacted their life trajectories in a serious way. What sets you apart is a level of analysis and maturity(in addition to entertainment) that hits home for people and triggers them.

I'm baffled, offended and irritated by the colossal amount of UNNECESSARY animosity that UNHINGED people send your way. Watching your videos is not compulsory. These people can choose another channel. There are so many options on this platform. Anonymity gives some people internet courage that they probably don't have offline. I'm sure you know this Steph but in case you don't, let me remind you that you're a powerful and intelligent voice on RU-vid. I and THOUSANDS of your subscribers (StephGang!?) appreciate your content. You're entitled to post WHATEVER you want. WHENEVER you want & HOWEVER you want. In theory, yes, but you're wise to pivot, protect your mental health & restrict your content. Some people, the ones who joined your Patreon for malicious reasons- are just downright disturbing! My question to them; *Is everything OK at home?*

I’ve been in an emotionally abusive and manipulative relationship. The roller coaster ride of emotions have this crazy way of making you love them harder and feel like it’s you and him against the world. Once you escape you gotta keep moving. I also think unless you’ve been in an abusive relationship it’s hard to understand how it can happen and how you can get stuck. Abusers are extremely manipulative and strategic and lots of times their victims are confused, hurt, ashamed and so on and so forth. My heart goes out to keke. This could happen to anyone! YES even you! I’ve read so many stories of men hiding behind a facade for years before revealing their abusive nature.

Yeah & many don't do it themselves they have programs that scan for certain words & phrase & automatically delete them or have mods who go through the comments & delete them. That way it lessethe emotional burden on the content creator.

I have always enjoyed your content and think that you do offer an insightful perspective often a perspective that is usually unheard or overlooked in topics. I’m happy your channel exists cause it does offer some balance to the topics out there. Imma be here tuning for your thoughts always. I think you are funny and brilliant. You’re very kind and thoughtful despite how the internet decides to treat you. I hope you know I see immense value in your videos and I love how no matter what you continue to put out your voice and perspective. You are a force and I personally love listening to you. The ppl are coming at you because you are a black woman and like to “dunk on you” cause it makes them feel good those ppl are pathetic and it’s a reflection of themselves. Stephanie, I admire and aspire to have your strength of character. I could not imagine being attacked so viciously and publicly for simply sharing my vulnerabilities and lived experiences, and not only bouncing back, but loving myself enough to have such strict and protective boundaries for myself. None of us are perfect, and it’s a shame that your natural, beautiful imperfections were taken up as arms against you. There’s not a lot of people on RU-vid I drop everything for to watch. Your content is always refreshing. I will say though I was on those people who silently were bothered by your consistent dating failures. I think you really hit the nail on the head with ageism. It is not your fault or responsibility, but as somone who is in my early 20’s we see nothing but “red pill men” bash black women and pick them apart for being “unlovable”, then when I see somone as beautiful and lovely of a woman as you go through those things it strikes a cord of insecurity. But after your videos I think you’re absolutely right that after 30 should be able to make mistakes and people shouldn’t be attacking you.

Just a piece of advice, maybe do RU-vid for YOU. What YOU want to create and put out. I think once this becomes a source of income it becomes about what is and what is not working, what the comments are, and the engagement. But that’s seems exhausting and like “work”. Maybe if you take that element out of it, you wouldn’t need to look at the comments nor engagement and can put out what speaks to your heart.

The fact that people are still insisting on you posting personal stories just makes me realize that people don't always have your best interest in mind. If someone tells you that they have a lot of emotional stress and face intense criticism every time they get super personal online, and your reaction is, "yeah, but- " It just tells me that they only view you as a source of entertainment and not a actual real person.

So that story about that guy really help me decide something’s. So sorry it was used poorly. You we’re vulnerable and its good you see what happened and said I could have did different for my sake. For the people who get mad that your mad, doesn’t care about you. That shit hurts when you realize it could be a large part of the people you know. But anger is a secondary response to something much deeper. So to be angered at your anger says a lot. And maybe they care but they can’t hold space for you and how you are really doing something so rare. Which is being authentic and brave to be seen. Either way it’s the fact that the result is the same and they may not be safe for you to be around. And for you to be close with. If you are a deep feeling person and you have friends who aren’t deep feeling and thinking like that, it will naturally but a bridge between you. People can only meet you as deep as they meet themselves. I hated to hear that at first but lately I have seen that and understand it more. Protect yourself on all levels and know sometimes you have to let people leave, and let people be. They gone be mad , so you boo.

It’s been on my heart to start a RU-vid channel for so long but this is the kind of stuff that terrifies me. I’m a hospital Chaplain and so I deal with illness, suffering, death and dying all day. I do it happily because I feel so so so so honored to support so many patients, their families and the staff BUT in order to do that work, I need to live a stable, peaceful, healthy life that can support me. If I open myself up on the internet (I wanted to share wellness tips) I also open myself up to harm and that might break me… if that happened, I wouldn’t be able to continue to do my work at the hospital… so I just haven’t done it.

Most women keep stuff like abuse secret if they have no intentions of leaving the relationship, so no one in their life start asking why they are not leaving. I'm not saying this the only reason, I'm just saying this is sometime why they keep it quiet. Plus they don't want to hear you talk crap about a man they are clearly either going back to or never leaving.
