Keke Wyatt Vocal Analysis 

Keke is my little sister and let me tell you something...you are like dead on! Martha Wash is one of my favorite singers and I tell people that Martha Wash never got her come ups but she was definitely one of the most underrated singers in the 90s. My best friend is an opera singer and he always tells me that he wants Keke to get disciplined with her voice and if she did so that she would soar to higher heights.

Keke is such an underrated vocalist. Her live performances take my breath away. Great video ❤️

yes, she has what alot of artist strive for. I hope she watches this vid,because she really has what it takes to be a power house in this industry .she does runs effortless . I really think she isn't using her gift to it's full potential. she seems like a fun person and not too serious . but to me we don't have many true singers that can take her crown if she herself wanted it . I love Keke and I agree with everything you said. I'm surprised you didn't mention her head voice and her transition from chest to head voice, her lower register and how it's grown, or her effortless riffs and runs.

I enjoy your videos. I never would have thought of Keke as a dramatic soprano because I haven't known dramatic sopranos to have so much agility at the top. I could be wrong. I was hoping to hear more of your thoughts on her actual technique. I agree with you in that if she actually "studied" her craft she would easily be considered world class by many "schools of thought" as you put it. Just based on her ability alone I believe she is already world class. I'm surprised that for someone with no formal training she actually has a VERY solid technique, in my opinion. I see her technique as one that would enable her to sing well through colds and sickness and still have access to most of her voice even when she isn't a hundred percent. In her lower and mid register she seems to place her voice right behind her nose and she has a very neutral onset. Not too hard and not too much like vocal fry. I've also noticed that as she ascends in her range she eases in to the "yawn" and shapes her vocal tract however she needs to but the voice remains steadied in that one place. I feel like her high head voice/falsetto notes (which are pretty powerful and well resonated) have a raised soft palate and a high and wide pharynx. I have never heard her sing high head voice notes softly and I wonder if she has a solid technique for singing softer heady notes around G5 and above. Another thing she does that I love is that she can growl in a "healthy" way. Again, I am AMAZED that she has had no training and has such a solid technique. Just incredible!

Yeah....KeKe would dominate the industry, but they say she doesn't get along with people. She is probably the best vocalist alive right now, but we forget about her because she's not in the mainstream where she should be. SHE should be selling billions of albums and judging these singing competitions.

Yeah my sister put me up on Keke about a month ago and I was like "Sssshyt!" She is a vocal Mike Tyson. The last time I called someone a vocal Mike Tyson was this young man named Matthew Schuler, but he needed a little more control and tone to bridge those breaks out more. He was on Christina Aguilera's team.

I would say a hybrid between spinto and coloratura. Very colorful and agile voice with that weight. 😌

You look gorgeous! I'm about your age. I remember her with Avant, and I too thought it was someone at least 40 duetting with him. I think she's a spinto soprano. When she goes for her big belted notes, I hear a definite "slice" but underneath it is a very pretty tone. Also, her head notes are very flute-like yet piercing. But she doesn't have the metal of say, Patti Labelle or Monica Naranjo. She seems vocally, close to Deboroah Cox or prime Whitney, although she has more range due to her mixing skills. I don't personally like her voice, but she can sing!

u may be right about ur analysis of kekes didcipline, but honestly dows she need it??? she doesnt really have to "cultivate" her voice because its a natural gift. its just not her style and she doesnt need to polish it, i get what ur saying, but everyone doesnt need or want to cross over. shes perfect the way she is. shes goofy and lovely.

I agree with you. One of my favs, if not my favorite singer of the day. She is amazing yet super underrated. She always struck me as the kind a person who sings because she loves it, but her priority is her family and not her career. I can only imagine how far she could have gotten if she, like you said, put in the work. But still love her either way! :)

I don't really agree with you regarding KeKe's voice type. I think that she's more of a lyric mezzo -soprano cuz she seems to be more comfortable in her mid-range and she has a lot of weight in the mid-range as well.
