To be fair unless you are familiar with the 2002 MOTU cartoon or the DC run of the comic, this would probably comes from nowhere to someone who was only familiar with the old show or the figure line.

I personally liked the way they did his origins in the 2000's series. His was dying from the acid that was deflected at him and was brought before Hordak and made a deal with the devil and became Skeletor. His face was even more graphic cause you could see it melting and dripping on his hands. The. He went crazy with chaos magic

If I remember right, the two are owned by two different companies now. The rights got split sometime along the way. Although I may be thinking of Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja. Same difference. 😅

Not only is William Shatner's character the same character as Mark Hamill, later in the time-line. But William Shatner is KILLING this performance...in his freaking 90s! Just pass this you see when Hordak escaping through a window while Skeletor is captured. Any real fan will realize that Hordak is actually holding a baby though we don't see it and that baby will be Adam's twin sister Andora AKA She-Ra. I hope that bit will lead into having her in the next season, if they have one.

As I asked when I was watching this, what was the point in borgifying Skeletor if he keeps his free will and ego? As it turns out this transformation literally backfired on Hordak, it didn’t make Skeletor subservient if anything it made him more rebellious.
