Multiple Grammy Award-winning superstar Kelly Clarkson performed the national anthem before the start of the 102nd Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on Sunday, May 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
I love Kelly...the most humble authentic human on the planet...i think i posted that somewhere else....we all heard this song a million times but how often does it affect you as much as Kelly did? MEEEE...thx you Kelly! xo
I have never heard her sing this but another video I was watching about Chris stapleton's national anthem and someone said hers was very good and it is very good but no one can beat Chris Stapleton in my opinion no one❤❤❤❤
Kelly Clarkson never disappoints. She sang the National Anthem as it was meant to be sung without any extra added words or notes. This is a patriotic crowd. You will never see anyone take a knee at the Indianapolis 500.
Where will she be preforming today or night. As Reba told us at the ACM's, Kelly is everywhere. Whats the saying, work until you drop. Well from the video I saw she about dropped before she got to stage. From BillBoard stage to the hospital. Hang in there Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I came to hear Kelly's version compared to Lady Gaga. Kelly's got so much power and control and that makes her truly amazing. The only things I would say are that she seemed to rush a bit and my main complaint, and this goes for anyone that takes on this song, please don't stray from singing it as written. When you add your own frills and phrasing, well, I just don't care for it. I also appreciate it when they go for the high note towards the end there. It must be scary but when you pull it off it really is the Cherry on the cake.
Say, can you see By the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed At the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars Through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watched Were so gallantly, yeah, streaming? And the rockets' red glare The bombs bursting in air Gave proof through the night That our flag was still there O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
some podcaster mentioned Kelly had a comparable performance to Whitney. I'm here to say, Kelly did great but Whitney is version the best to ever done it. No hate to Kelly just FACTS!
Just sing the song. If you're going to add the flourishes - sing them with power, rather than lazily sliding up and down to/around them. Better yet, don't employ them at all. And if you're going to attempt a "soulful" sound - GO FOR IT; sing it like you've lived more than a minute or two. This was such a mishmash of half-hearted warbles, grace notes, tempos, and seemingly random stylistic deviations. Even Grammy Award winners screw up.
If you sing that way, you better sing this way... Bla bla bla... Whatever you do today, you cant win. Even if she had sang your way, you would have criticized anyway. Whats the point? Just respect someone else's way
