Graeme O'Neil takes a look at how past Super Bowl national anthem performers, like Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and MIckey Guyton reacted to Chris Stapleton's rendition.
Seriouslyyyyyy. I genuinely didn't know him (well) before this performance. I was like daaaaammmmnnn, THAT's Chris? Jeeeezzzus! Go aheeeead and saaang boy!! ❤
@@czzthaday agreed with this administration being the worst diaster ever. And things being hard on Americans we certainly did. Obama and Biden have destroyed this country.
With all due respect to Chris Stapleton’s performance. For my money the best national anthem goes to attendees of the leafs vs predators games in Canada. When the singers mic begins to cut out the Canadian’s pick it up seamlessly and finish it off.

I'm a USMC Veteran and the song itself stirs emotions in me. However, Mr. Stapletons version had me crying like a baby. Never forget!!! Semper Fidelis!!!
US Army vet here with a father of 20 years in the Army and two tours in the Vietnam war! I thank you for your service!! The Anthem always makes me cry and this version is the best I have ever heard. 🪖❤
For me, it’s still Whitney Houston. I get GOOSEBUMPS every time I hear her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. What a beautiful, spectacular, powerful voice that woman had. 🤩
So many people have sung The National Anthem so beautifully but CHRIS STAPLETON made me FEEL the song. That has NEVER happened before and will probably never happen again. I cried listening to him and I cried even harder when I saw the coach crying. Chris Stapleton's version:. PRICELESS
Lol. Who's listening to the instruments when either one of them are singing. I am not sure why there is such a need to make a comparison when it just can't be made. Sad. They're both beyond amazing singers and we shouldn't try to take away from either of their incredible moments.
Nobody could touch Whitney until now. After watching Chris perform this several times now I realize it was just him and a guitar that made that masterpiece. So yeah the best in my book.
@@aaronkristo858 ??? How do you know? I heard that before and it literally makes no sense. Ppl have said it with no evidence whatsoever. So, the band was there as just a prop?? Lol
@@neetrab Do a simple internet search of it and you will find multiple articles from reputable news sources with a quote from Whitney's musical director saying that she lipsynched.
@@aaronkristo858 I saw the articles. How is that Whitney's fault? It wasn't her suggestion to lip it. Are you saying she couldn't possibly have done as well as her prerecording??? Lol! It's Whitney Houston for goodness sake. Hers rendition, pre-recorded or not, is more memorable because her 3 notes she does when she sings the word "free" have been hijacked by other performers repeatedly, I can't even count. Imitation is the best form of flattery. And I love Chris Stapleton's voice, but facts are facts.
I am English to the core and yet Chris Stapleton's rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" brought tears to my eyes. He sang it with passion and reverence, not as some have done, what i mean by that is, without the vocal gymnastics. I will be watching it again and again, it was truly inspirational.
I don’t know if this is going to come off how I mean it, but this is the most American the anthem has ever sounded. His voice embodies the grit and the emotion the song was born from. I’m not even a very patriotic person, but just speaking on the spirit of the song, I don’t think anyone has gotten closer to that than Chris.
I 100% agree with you. While he was performing, I could actually visualize what the words were saying. I have to believe it embodies the same exact feelings Francis Scott Key had as he was writing it.
@@cathy3046 thanks for the word of encouragement i must say your comment give me goosebumps and i would love to have private conversation if that is okay with you
I was blown away by his rendition. Our national anthem makes me cry regardless, but his version had me just a mess of sobbing tears. My face was soaked. Eye make-up destroyed.
One man, one guitar, with a sole full emotion with zero special effects, has to be the greatest rendition in my opinion of the anthem EVER SUNG. Made me proud to be an American and a Veteran. God bless you Chris.
Chris owns the National Anthem! That was a phenomenal performance, full of raw passion, deliverance, impeccable vocals and patriotism. I absolutely loved it, moved me to tears. Bravo!
I agree. People have been surprised that he's from eastern Kentucky. After that horrible flooding in eastern Kentucky in summer 2022 Chris got some other eastern KY singers , Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, Dwight Yoakum, and others to Rupp Arena for a concert. I think they raised over 2 million dollars for the people that suffered the flooding. That was great that they did that.
It is the first time I saw Nick Siriani cry - & I never miss an Eagles game! Chris Stapleton not only played & sang the anthem.....he reminded us what it is about!

No.1 The whole Country felt that. The only version I’ve listened to countless times because it makes me proud to be an American, and it’s beautiful.!!!
Chris puts the story first - every time. I felt the meaning of every word in my heart. I had to go back and watch it again to think about his performance. His performance is just there to serve the story. And I felt the full story in each note… I felt the aspirations, failures, wrong turns, best intentions…. And the banner yet waves.

I am normally not a fan of "personal" renditions of the National Anthem, but Chris Stapleton has such a stirring voice. That version will go as my all-time favorite. God bless the USA!
Some people have great voices and can sing and that's wonderful... Not many people can convince you that they're singing from the heart. I don't think anyone will be able to top this rendition. This is like liquid gold.
Man....how can now anyone enter a stage to sing anything after this performance? This is a milestone in human voice singing....ever! Absolutely multiuniverse class! Still got goosebumps
Chris had the most patriotic, emotional and heartfelt uniting rendition of all time! My favorite ever and this man used no auto tune or lip syncing! God bless him and America 🇺🇸! ❤

I had no idea who Chris Stapleton was until I heard him sing that night. I don't usually get emotional over the national anthem, but this moved me to tears.
I cried and cried and cried....he touched my heart and left me absolutely unable to stop crying. I love Whitney's version but Chris made us all feel so proud to be Americans!

@@fiveoneforfour Do a simple internet search of it and you will find a quote from her musical director at the time, admitting that she lipsynched it. Not to mention I have been a singer all of my life and I can tell just by watching the way a person's mouth moves.
@@fiveoneforfour He claimed she listened to the orchestra once and then sang the pre-record in one take. “Truth is always the right answer. I never shy away from someone questioning anything that was done, or how it was done. I mean, the truth is the right thing. Could I have said that it was live-live? Yes, but then when do you stop trying to gloss something over? It is what it is. And there's no doubt that Whitney sang it. So my answer to that, my response to that immediately was, ‘Yes, she sang live. But we used the track for the audio.’ - Rickey Minor (Whitney Houston's musical director)
@@aaronkristo858 That's not lip syncing. Lip syncing is when you move your mouth to the track and don't use your vocal chords. Rickey was saying Whitney sang the song. She was singing. It just wasn't what was being piped into the stadium...a recording of her singing was being played. In my opinion, this is worse, because it's even more deceptive than lip syncing. But, I understand their reasoning for doing it. There's every possibility they did the same thing with Chris. No way to know.
Bringing grown men to tears of pride in our great country! This is my favorite by far. It's not how well anyone can sing it but how it connected with my soul.
I am South African but my father is an American citizen and this singer's rendition brought me to tears . Effortless divine ability. Those vocal runs were amazing . He was singing landscapes and events into being.
As much as I love my country and the National anthem, NO ONE's version EVER moved me to tears like Chris Stapleton. So, no it's not just top 5, it's #1 for ALL TIME!! Maybe he can do it EVERY year??
I work at the airport where Chris flies in to in Nashville and I was honored to be able to shake his hand and thank him personally for his performance as he stepped off his plane ! I personally think was the best National Anthem I’ve ever heard.
Chris Stapleton recordings, amazing.... Chris live, LEGENDARY. The run he does when he sings the phrase gallantly streaming gives me goosebumps and then I cry....EVERY TIME!
He´s already made himself a legend in Country Music, and his rendition of the National Anthem took him to another level. Some will love it, some will not, but I am among those that thoroughly enjoyed it!
He damn sure gained some fans after that. Even if you'd never heard of him before, you have now. His voice is so damn emotional and powerful. He can literally sing any genre of music and dude has range for days. I was introduced to his music by a friend. She was playing his cover of Tennessee Whiskey. I head that voice, I had to know who was singing it cause it gave me chills.
Chris crushed the anthem there is going to never be another national anthem sung as well as it was song with the feeling and the passion that Chris put into the national anthem absolutely 100% amazing. This is coming from a veteran who is so proud to have served the United States of America

The raw emotion and talent he has is what makes this number 1 in my book...I love the national anthem..being a vet made me proud as well as many other to see the anthem sung like that God Bless America...❤

Chris Stapleton let the words of the national anthem be the star! He didn’t do a Broadway production or scream at the top of his lungs. He’s simply and with deep sincerity, let the word speak for themselves! This is the way the national anthem should be sung every single time! The song and what it stands for is the star not the person singing them. Awesome job Chris Stapleton you’re my favorite person singing the national anthem.!
He sang with his heart and soul and it was terrific! I've listened to it a number of times and compared his rendition to others who sang it, and he is most definitely my favorite.
Hands down the best one we have ever seen...idc what anybody says...I haven't gotten the chills from the National Anthem in...well, I don't even remember...
Chris's rendition of our National Anthem was a shining light in the darkness, bringing some desperately needed harmony to our troubled nation. While he breathed new life into our troubled nation's most revered song, it felt like we all briefly agreed on something. For those few glorious moments, it was genuinely okay for us all to be Americans - together.
This goes straight through the heart. No other way to explain it. Thank you Chris Stapleton. You put together a perfect combination of respecting the anthem, pure talent, and a forever memorable moment for your legacy that you deserve
WOW !!! I didn't even watch the super bowl and thanks to the ones sharing this, I am seeing one of my favorite singers " CRUSHING" it. Thanks for sharing...and thank you Chris Stapleton for the best version of our National Anthem.
