Now this is for the ones who thinks that rock and metal is only noise and screaming... Rock is melody, rythmn and pure harmony..... Great job man, just fantastic!!!
ok, but in this particular case I would say that it's the song that lends itself to an acoustic version... Not all rock and metal music lends itself to melodic harmonies... I don't think "Disposable Heroes" or "Battery" or the vast majority of Metallica's compositions sound the same way on a classical guitar. This does not mean, however, that it is noise for those who do not appreciate...
It happens. People who listened to metal and love it is because we have the capacity to hear each instrument very well, this also includes the main singer and the other singers as a backup. Other people don't identify them like we do
This proves that Fade to Black isn't just a beautiful metal song, it's a beautiful song full stop no matter what genre or style it's played in. Hats off to you
Incredible! Even this superlative fails to capture the grandeur of what this guy does! He does 2 guitar parts, vocal parts, percussion AND switches tuning, all while putting his own style, while retaining the heart of the song. Blew my mind, friend! I know it's not done anymore these days, but my lighter is in the air for you!
very vERy well put gounderus . this was an honest tribute from one artist to t h e artists . its done all the time in the classical world , and it was f . . . king excellent here too . I'mgonnaput my lighter in the air
I know I'm a bit late, but if you guys still read this, also look up Thomas Zwijsen and Ben Woods. They do this stuff on classical / flamenco guitars. Thomas even teaches his stuff on his homepage
Finger style: translation. I can play James guitar parts Kirks guitar parts and James vocal melody on one guitar! Bravo!! well done mate, sounds great!!!!
@@mickydix I started watching that video, and I was in such awe of his incredible skills that I completely forgot why I was even there in the first place. Then came the epic capo switch mid-song.
The 415 people who thumbs down'ed this clearly have no taste in music, or no appreciation for a work of art. This is AWESOME. You're an inspiration to all of us musicians. Think I'll go practice until my fingers are bleeding.
I belive i started following you since i found this video in 2013. Since that, you never stopped to impressed me. You have alot of talent. Listening to you is a real pleasure.
No one but me can save myself but it's too late..... Now I can"t think, think why I should even try! Yesterday seems as though it never existed.... Death greets me warm, Now I will just say goodbye! ... Goodbye! \m/
Theres actually scientific studies that support this. People who listen to metal, especially melodic metal and people who listen to classical area more able to pick out the nuances within the moving parts within the music.
From which planet is he coming? .... I just can't believe what I heard .... O_O !!???!!! And it seems so simple.... unbelievable.... one of the best acoustic guitar "coverer" ever !!!
So so so many musicians out there who Metallica has inspired! They will live on forever. Thank god for them. And by the way your guitarplaying is awesome!
See, Pop music? This is what real effort into music looks and sounds like. Edit: I made this comment years ago and it's pure cringe, carry on with your day
+blacktieaffair Guess I'm a fuckboy, also: *Can't *You were *You're And a plethora of others that I can't be arsed to correct. Also, I find that your comment is quite ironic. You must have some pretty bad insecurities to tell someone to kill themselves.
Hadn't I seen it, I wouldn't have believed it was played by a human being. God listens to performances like this everyday in heaven. I almost stood up here to clap my hands. Thumbs up, added to favorites.
Diego Ambrosio sorry buddy. God ain’t real. Funny how we’ve discovered fossils hundreds of millions years old. Yet haven’t found one bone from the characters in the Bible. Think about it for a moment
OMG! That was amazing! I don’t think I blinked or breathed throughout that entire arrangement! That cascade you did before it gets heavy was incredible! The harmonics…. Wow! All your arrangements are next level, but I wasn’t expecting this Kelly. I hope James and Kirk have seen or will see this video. I’m sure Kirk would be blown away.
dude great response.I feel you! The part that chills me everytime. I re-wound it 105 times. 3:40 - 3:46. its so simply smooth and chillin in the pocket.
well it's official, that is by far the best fingerstyle arrangement of that song i have ever heard, my hat to you!!! so yeah, liked, subbed, and that video is now in a playlist... you more than earned it!!!! XD
"Fade To Black" Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Things not what they used to be Missing one inside of me Deathly lost, this can't be real Cannot stand this hell I feel Emptiness is filling me To the point of agony Growing darkness taking dawn I was me, but now he's gone No one but me can save myself, but it's too late Now I can't think, think why I should even try Yesterday seems as though it never existed Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
Saw this video on my home feed, and I'm so glad I found this. especially going to visit my brother's grave today. Never heard of you til today but I'm thankful. beautiful rendition and style of this song. thank you for your beautiful contribution to society and these beautiful medleys for us all to enjoy.
This is beyond phenomenal. My favorite Metallica song. I think I'll play it 19 more times before I go to bed!!! Great rendition. My compliments to the artist.
I love how you just kept the main line the same in the opening. It’s a perfect little chord progression with the phrasing it uses. Hetfield is an underrated acoustic player and composer of chord progressions. He’s not just a riff master. He really has a taste for melody and phrasing.
I find it amazing to see people play the rhythm and melody at the same time, I know its not hard once you find a way to do it but thats the incredible part
Hey man, congratulations, great job,but what is that red thing on the head of his guitar? I await response, and once again, congratulations, simply sensational!
+KellyValleau best tuner ever. Speaking of the best, holy S you are the best guitar player I've found on RU-vid. My new favorite. I picked up the instrument in 1999 and still play almost daily. I probably rock this one at least once a month. Great arrangement.
man, I used to just strum basic classic rock riffs until I seen one of your videos on fingerstyle. Your a big part in me taking up this style of playing. good stuff man
There are moments in Metallica's classic period: this song, One, To Live is To Die, where parts of the arrangements are like...somehow early 20th century American Gothic in origin. They were very a deep band on those first few records.
I loved how you used an awesome technique and merged it with your own feeling, giving your own touch to the song. Great stuff, man. Never saw something like this!
All the credit given to Metallica the world over, still falls short. One of the greatest bands (imo) of all time. This cover was extremely well done. Thanks for sharing!
"It's too perfect." That is the only gripe I've ever been able to come up with regarding your playing. Everything you play is a certified masterpiece, and the arrangements you come up with are gorgeous. I love your work. :)
