Kelphulachi bhaji, also known as bonyechi bhaji, is a traditional Goan delicacy. Banana blossom is known as Kelphul in Konkani. This recipe is very simple to cook and tastes amazing.

Ingredients & Quantity
Banana Blossom (cut into small pieces) - 1 nos
Onions (chopped) - 3 nos
Tomatoes (chopped) - 2 nos
Green chili (cut) - 1 nos
Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
Red lentils (soaked & washed) - 1/2 cup
Freshly grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Water as needed
Method;
1) Peel off the purple petals of the banana flower until you get a white portion. Cut the flower and then chop into small pieces. Soak the pieces in a bowl of water for 2 - 3 hrs. Dicard the water and repeat the process for one more time.
2) Heat coconut oil in a vessel and onions and green chili, saute for 10 mins.
3) Add tomatoes and cook till mushy. Add 1/4 tsp salt while cooking.
4) Finally, add the soaked and drained flower pieces followed by soaked lentils and mix well. Add grated coconut and cover the lid and cook for 15 mins on low heat.
5) Give a good mix and check for salt.
