Due to popular demand I am bringing back the series 'Worst Firsts' as a podcast!
This week, Brittany is joined by comedian & author of "Don't F*cking Panic" Kelsey Darragh to discuss all things anxiety, including the time she had a 3-day-long panic attack after smoking too much weed and when she almost landed a plane by freaking out, which caused her mom to calm her down with some vodka. They also discuss the best ways to overcome your anxiety, face your fears, and give yourself more self-affirmation.

I never realised how alone Brit feels with her anxiety. I feel the same way in my relationship. Not to say that our partners do not care about us, but anxiety is a really isolating experience all together for some reason

EMDR was so incredibly beneficial for me. It was the beginning of my healing from an abusive relationship and my dads death. It’s a crazy emotional process but so worth it!❤️

I love what Kelsey said about not feeling bad for your husband. “You should feel bad for you”. When y’all were talking about negative self talk I related SO HARD and this is something my therapist and I have to work on literally every week. Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping me feel better ❤️ love y’all.

Brittany, it's so awesome that your open about your anxiety and panic attacks. I know myself ,I have never had panic attacks when , I was younger nothing never bothered me . And then when, I got older that's when it hit me with generalized anxiety . I did have it under control for awhile. Then it finally hit hard again trying to go to sleep and having a panic attack almost every night. I am really exhausted. But who ever has this it's hard to just calm down. I got to get that book. It's good to talk about anxiety and panic attacks there's alot of people who have this . Brittany your a wonderful person and thankyou for this podcast.

It’s always nice to hear that other people feel the same way you do. Thank you to both of you for being open. Also thank you to Brittany for not trying to make her relationship look perfect. I appreciate that she’s able to admit that her partner doesn’t quite understand her anxiety and how it affects her, also that they’re in some form of counseling/therapy to try and help that along with whatever other issues you guys go through. Now a days it seems like everyone wants to make their relationship look perfect or better then most peoples and this is just the reality of relationships, they’re not always perfect but that’s ok. As long as you both love each other and are working together to make things work, you both are definitely on the right track and doing what’s best for both of you. So again, thank you for that.

That was fun! I love when you talk about mental health. Recently I had a classic panic attack (usually I have some weird traumatic kind) for the first time, and I was really freaked out not knowing what that was. I thought I'm such an emotional wreck that my emotions are making me faint (which might still be kinda true). When this happens I feel like a floor is moving and waving under my feet, it was a lot. After my doctor explained that it was a panic attack I would probably be scared, but because I've heard so much about it from you and I've seen that it comes and goes and life goes on, I just thought: Ok, so this is normal. It's ok. So I just want to thank you for being amazing and real and sharing your experiences with us :-)

It's very common for past traumas to start coming up when you're in a *good* place in life, happy and secure, because that makes it possible to release these things.

Brittany- everything you said in this podcast reminds me exactly of my sister. She is only a few years older than me (about your age), and experiences anxiety in what seems to be the same way you do. My family is struggling so much with how to best help as she is fearful to reach out for help other than to those that might understand better than us. Send positive vibes our way if you wouldn't mind. :) You're a sweet and genuine soul.. love your content. The world needs more people like you.

I am on progesterone everyday, klonopin, vistaril, and lexapro. I have really been struggling and I have to say thank you thank you thank you to Brittany for your podcast. You have helped me get through this crazy year so much. I went back on medication and I'm trying really hard to manage and deal with my panic disorder and GAD along with PMDD and endometriosis. It hit me so hard during quarantine and my poor boyfriend of 13 years didn't know what to do to help me. i have never been this bad and i have dealt with anxiety/panic my whole life. Hearing you talk about this stuff especially with Kelsey who I am a huge fan of from Buzzfeed and that dating show is just amazing. I have been kind of dealing with upping my medication and its been really hard so this couldn't of come at a better time. You both are amazing boss bitches. Loved this, so so much and it really made me remind myself my goals, and that I'm okay and going to be okay. Thank you again. You are so great. Especially after dealing with a panic attack the night before coming home from vacation. I literally have had a love hate relationship with this quarantine/pandemic because I hate leaving home but when i absolutely can't or am told I can't I freak out. i finally went back to work after adjusting to meds I got into two accidents and it was my worst fear. I finally found a balance where i slowed down and am monitoring myself, my sleep (which is nonexistent, but progressive-ish), my blood pressure, and my sobriety as much as I can and its watching your podcasts that are super helpful. Whether you ever read this or not, I'm so thankful to have this outlet. Thank you, and yes progesterone can help, and can be super anxiety enducing. I was put on it (norethedrone) because I can't be on anything with estrogen because I am at a high risk for a stroke or heart attack because it causes super high blood pressure.

Some people have said that Kelsey is “annoying” or “over the top” in other podcasts I’ve watched her on but I genuinely don’t see it. In my opinion she’s very bold with her statements and thoughts and I love that about her. She seems very sure of herself, her feelings and what she wants in life and with everything else. This is the first podcast I’ve ever seen of Brittany but she seems wonderful too! I’m glad I found this, I’ll most definitely be binge watching/listening to all the episodes of this podcast now. Great listen , very interesting 💕😊
