I LOVE Kel-Tec cause they never come out with "another AR" or "Another single/double stack wonder 9" I just roll my eyes at this point at just how over saturated and....frankly uninspired most gun manufacturers have become these last 15 odd years. Kel-Tec keeps things fresh and (mostly) adorable. Cant knock em for it.

Same, my dream once I graduate as an engineer is to work for them. My main reason is because they're the only major gun manufacturer out there that I feel would actually put my talents to use and not just have me making Glock clones for 20 years.

They are glorified paintball guns that shoot real bullets. I’m actually happy they exist because it makes for an inexpensive option of a quite functional gun with a decent amount of aftermarket. By Sub 2000 ended up being a fairly expensive gun by the time I had modded it out. Kinda like a lay-away plan but you get to take the base model home with you.

Kel-Tec always seems to come out with interesting ideas. They don't always work out, and quality control seems to be an issue sometimes, but very interesting ideas.
@nicklaustietje2749
@nicklaustietje2749 5 лет назад
Taylor Libby I believe kel-Tec is one of if not the biggest innovator in the firearms game, it’s just that once they’ve come out with something new they move on to the next project. They don’t go back and work out the bugs and kinks. Most manufacturers have many generations of their popular guns. For whatever reason Kel-Tec doesn’t do that.
@john-paulsilke893
@john-paulsilke893 5 лет назад
It’s because of the massive appeal their cheap/inexpensive guns have. They frantically build more to keep up with demand. Cheap clap shell construction but quality headspacing means the gun works and is very safe or the gun simply doesn’t work. We all have stories, but they tend to get solved reasonably cheap and easily, although my favourite gunsmith won’t work on them. Fair enough, they also tend to be end user “smith-able” even their larger bull pup rifles.

@@bowlofrice8 it's not about over doing it. The MP7 is a high velocity 4.6mm cartridge that is like unicorn meat to find in the states. Nebraska Fed it’s definitely a good starting point. I actually own a 10/22 take down that dislikes MiniMags and actually loves, loves, love crappy Golden Bullets. Goldies are bang, bang, bang, pud, bang, kaboom, bang; so inconsistent. But, cheap even for .22 so I’m not complaining. But like you wrote, seeing a wide variety gets you buying ammo that’s at least in the wheel house and a fantastic place to start. Especially important for center fire semi-auto.

It reminds me of something that you'd see in a Star Wars movie. I've had mine since December of 2019 and only ammo I had any trouble with was Federal auto match. And that could be because of the age of the ammo. It was purchased during the ammo shortage as it was all I could get. I've even tried some Auguila SSS and some Winchester. As to the replacement mag plate, they have a ring built into them and it helps for removal of magazine.

I own a pmr 30 and if the mag has trouble feeding, it usually means the mag catch isn't holding the mag in place. Try this. Insert a full mag so it clicks in and then press the mag down on a hard surface pushing the mag further in while racking the slide. If it feeds on the first try, it's a mag catch issue. If the first round looks like it is going to catch on the mag, give it a tap on the bottom of the mag and it will align. Works with the PMR mags.

Hay Eric I bought mine from Classic Firearms a few months ago. Also I bought 3D printed cheek parts from Bogaloo . I also added a 45 offset with a ghost viper red/green dot, rail covers, 5" M16/GAU muzzle brake, single point sling and my own designed brass deflecter. Took it to the range 3 weeks ago. After sight in and some with support shooting under 1/3" at 15 yards. Did a 25 shot rapped fire off hand inside 3/4" at 15 yards. I've had at least 12 people and 2 range officers talk to me and drooled all over my gun. I had to wash the drool off. With the 45 offset, the gun is comfortable. Try this setup it's great. Great for CQB and disabled Vet's that want to small game hunt. Let me know what you think. USAF VET,

I got a very early CP33. It doesn't like the Aguila 60gr SSS. I didn't think it would. I think the problems are the big sticky waxy lead bullets don't feed well and gum up the inside of the magazine, and the very short cases don't eject well. They tumble and jam. Your bulged SSS case may have been because the short cases have less bite on the chamber and extract early in a blow back gun, as opposed to your theory of a chamber that doesn't fully support the case. All other ammo I tried ran great, and I fold the mags to be surprisingly easy to load, compared to the PMR-30 mags for example. I only had one rim lock, and that's when I wasn't looking while talking to someone while Braille loading. I love the CP33, but I think my CMR-30 is my poor man's MP7. I can't wait for the carbine version of the CP33.

KelTec makes products I always buy in twos, because they are just cool, fun, and cheap. I would not really call them battle ready, but they are a range dream come true, ten times so suppressed. These, just like my 9mm subbies, are a hoot to shoot. Do yourself a favor and get the american speedloader. I would say it pays for itself the first day at the range, but in reality you spend more because you go though rounds almost too fast (If there is such a thing) Loads perfect every time, half the effort, none of the sore thumbs, and have had zero load related failures since getting it.

Also if the CP-33 doesn't want to always eat the first round in the mag, could you just reload with only 30 or 32 to keep the first one from fighting you on chambering ? This one of the guns I've thought about getting for a backpack gun. Just because its size and capacity. Large enough to handle small enough to throw into a camping bag or survival kit for small game hunting. I never did however, I think maybe it wasn't quite available at the time? I'm not sure. I had around 500 bucks for a budget and just ended up getting a decent sight for existing guns than getting a new gun. Frankly I'm not sure either way if I still want to buy this thing. I also agree with the comments on Keltec, the bit about them being a blast to shoot. My RBD is frankly my favorite guns of all time. I also don't understand the apparent lack of reliability of it or other keltec guns that seems to be sprinkled all over the internet. I've never given it a mud bath or anything but the only missifires I ever had with it was due to bad shells (got em from a yard sale).

The manual says to run the mags the first four or five times with 15 to 20 rounds to break them in.

I'd love to see Kel Tec make a sub2000 in .357sig or even (doubtfully) 10mm. That'd be amazing

Hey... I know! It needs a forward assist!!

With it being a rim fire a forward assist might not be a wise idea.

LOL! Gotta love Kel-Tec, some of the coolest guns on the planet without costing an arm and a leg. Only one I had was a P32 with a royal blue frame, it didn't like PPU ammo but not many guns like that crap anyways. It was a true pocket pistol at 6.5 oz.

@john-paulsilke893
@john-paulsilke893 5 лет назад
Bob G it’s really a crime, but an apology can be worked out as long as the bullets hit the bottles before the judge can sign the warrant. 😊 Also .22’s hitting soda bottles is often more satisfying then a 9mm or bigger, (until you get ludicrously powerful like 12ga slugs).

@keltec - you can get the high cap mags to work better if you use a ribbon spring to curl up from the bottom, combined with the standard spring. Also, 75rounds pls?

kel tec needs to make a 50rd quad stack mag for the Ruger 10/22. the after market would go nuts. they just have to tune it to run every time and last forever and it would be a major winner.

It feels kind of strange seeing a gun put together using machine screws. But if it works it works, and if it makes this plinker cheaper to manufacture then why not?

Blahorga Slisk they used to use Phillips screws. Clap shell designs are extremely easy to make safe on a budget so that what they build.

Federal automatch, and tip the first round up in the mag, been 1000000 percent with mine. I have about 3k through mine with probably 15 or so malfunctions. Mag drop free is the only problem.

A carbine or brace with a compensator would probably make it feel like there's no recoil at all, like one of those light gun games at the arcade.

I cant wait for the cmr33. Sweet carbine companion to this gun. Consider the compactness of the mags for both. Carrying tons of ammo in small foot print
