KELTEC CP33 INITIAL THOUGHTS, AND JAM FIXES!!! Is this gun a jam machine, like everyone else says? or do they just not know what they're doing ... lets see for ourselves....
If you ever run into any issues, just send it back to keltec, they WILL take care of you. Mine runs flawlessly now with the correct ammo. I’ve had feed lips crack in my mags, but those get replaced by keltec as well. I have 11 mags total 8 with extensions to 50. Allows me to empty an entire 500 round brick into my mags. Tons of fun. Probably going to pick up a second one once I find it for the right price.
Indeed…but when it’s your favorite gun and you realize keltec stands behind their product it was a no brainer. I must admit I also like the idea of throwing this setup in a backpack with all 11 mags for a doomsday event 😂
Currently toying with the idea of finding someone to make me a metal buffer block with springs to replace the 3d printed part that seems like the most likely fail point. Keltec has replaced that for me as well since it starts to deform after say 5000 rounds.
I reamed the chamber a little on mine to increase reliability. The factory chamber fit is extremely tight. I only need to clean it about every 300 rounds now. It did open the groups about an inch larger. Im still getting 2 inch groups at 25 yards with auto match. I can still consistently hit a torso at 100 yards.
I use only CCI Mini Mags, Copper Plated & 40 Grain Ammo. I have the Auto Loader from "LUDEX", which I purchased from Amazon. I also purchased another Mag from KelTec and with it I purchased the 17 round Extension, which gives me a 50 Round Mag! I have over 1000 rounds shot through this gun and I have had No Major Issues, except some FTF when inserting a fresh magazine. My Gun runs great and I suggest following the User Guides's Instructions before shooting his gun and you will have a great shooting experience! NOTE: I Do Hate to Clean this Gun, But I do follow the User Guide that says, we must clean the mags more often than usual because of the way this gun is designed because it has No Feed Ramp! Good Luck! Special Note: I Never use all lead nose rounds in any of my 22 guns!
I have one of these and out of the box it did not go well for me. I did have to lube the gun to get it operate better. And yes it is finnicky on what ammo it likes. Right now I having the best results using Wildcats made by winchester. Also this gun get dirty because you can shoot so many rounds through it so fast. Knowing how to break it down for a quick cleaning when out shooting is helpful. It is a fun gun to shoot. The loader helps a lot when loading the mags.
I just picked up a desert tan one with three magazines at a pawn shop. Looking forward to trying it out. I also have a Keltec P17, so I'm curious about comparing the two.
Cool gun, man. Interesting magazine design and definitely an attractive round count. Any substantial reliability issues in your experience with it? Also, is it a polymer frame with an aluminum upper?
It is polymer frame and aluminum upper. I haven't seen any reliability issues whatsoever! I've only shot about 400 rounds through it so far but it has been holding up well!
I know you mentioned cleaning the bolt helped the jamming issues but someone actually came out with a video explaining that the CP33 actually jammed by way of user loading error. He went into depth on how to load it so it would not jam. Can’t remember what the dudes channel was or anything just thought maybe that would help
I like Kel Tec, but the CP33 is problematic. Putting the feed ramp in the magazine was a bad idea. I guess they'll keep selling them so long as people are buying.
@11:30 The CP33 does not drop the bolt with the slide lock. As well as pushing on the charging handle will produce no results. It all realize on the spring power from dropping the charging handle. Oh and lastly sir you are wearing your safety glasses but they are not covering your eyes!
The two points, the pin and the bolt , seem to be a universal flaw that can be addressed. I wanted to get one at an Iowa gunshow but missed out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bz1dpCwfjF8.html here are the simple jam fixes
first round charging is an issue with these guns no matter the lube. some have sent the gun back to the manufacturer and they actually machined the barrel to make the bullet slide in better.
@@jeffofalltrades8489 Mine had that issue and I just hosed some WD-40 into it. Fixed that problem in a hurry. Now it gets WD-40 or RemOil (whatever's closer to hand) in the open ejection port and on the side of the closed bolt, plus a quick shot onto the nose of the bullets and feed ramp in the freshly loaded mags after any use. No more problems. She likes it wet. :P
