@@geometerfpv2804actually it's not in the worst spot, if you put an extended lever on it you can manipulate it with your wrist and you never have take either hand off the controls, you can't do that with the M&P. Plus the KSG is about 1lb lighter empty. I do like the safety on the M&P.
One thing about the SW MP that I see ignored. It is not ready to shoot when you buy it. This might not matter for people with enough firearm experience, but it was my first shot gun. While its "red dot ready", it doesn't come with any type of sights. And no, this is not the shotgun you want to take to your intro to shotguns class. Its just way too different from the way shotguns usually work, especially loading it, which made the class and my first experiences with the MP 12 frustrating.. Of course, the one feature that benefits those new to shot guns is the pistol grip on the pump. Pumping is a skill that takes practice on a shotgun, but that pistol grip lets a new person successfully pump much better than on a more traditionally shaped shotgun. Eventually I mounted a Romeo 5 sight I got on amazon on my MP 12, installed it, and aligned it. Having said of that, once I was caught up on everything I needed to know about shotguns (as a beginner), I was able to truly appreciate the design of the MP 12.
@@jokat98Perhaps the published specs from manufacturers are wildly off? S&W website shows 132.8 ounces (8.3 pounds). Keltec shows 6.9 pounds. I went with the even lighter KS7 (published weight of 5.7 pounds) to keep overall weight reasonable with sling, light, optic and Salvo 12 attached. (Rule One: All Guns Are Always Suppressed)
@@jokat98 but can you double load or quad load it? the entrance of the tube is placed so deep inside..... its hard to even load single shells. I want to know your experience.
With the readily available custom additions for the KSG, it becomes one real mean machine. Hi-tech Customs. Aluminum pic rail attachment to lower plastic rail, with aluminum charging handle is one hell of a durable setup and gives superior control of the weapon. The deed tube selector switch extension is short money and allows one to change tubes with the wrist while not letting go of grip. Angle light on the side and howitzer muzzle break. I fell in love.

As an MP 12 owner...I can say the MP12 kit is very versatile. I have flip up iron sights and a flashlight /laser off the MLOCK. I've shot everything thru it and it delivers. Slug patterns are tight at 27 yards. Minis and 3" cycle with no issues. And the AR style functions are intuitive. The KSG tube select lever is very cumbersome and seems "flimsy". The MP 12 is a beast.
I owned both. MP 12 is better hands down. Easier to rack, easier to change tubes, better safety,. Bought the KSG first. My first bullpup and I was disappointed right away. KSG was so cool I really wanted it to be good but it’s not. Lot of binding friction when racking under stress. I traded KSG away and don’t regret it. MP12 is just so much smoother and ergonomic. Just my opinion.

With my KSG I always start on the left tube and then simply switch to the right tube with my thumb. I don't even have to take my hand off the grip, just reach back with my thumb and push the tube selector to the right. It's actually really easy and fast. I've yet to have any malfunctions with my KSG and love it as much as my trusty Remington 870 tactical.
I can buy a whole lot of ammo for the price difference between the two guns. So with that in mind, if you're on a budget KSG all day. If you have money to spend then get the S&W.......
20$ vertical hand grip behing the viridian x5l green laser/light on the KSG (the original 14 + 1 thats been refined in the later gen 2 and up) kicjs butt over all the copies...
Good comparison. Why are you using backup sights while looking through a red dot on the KSG? Am I missing something? Seems unnecessary and you’re just cluttering your view. They fold down for a reason.
Great video. I used to own a 12 gauge single hinge action, but never used it. I wish the KSG came in a 20 gauge. Seems as though the 410 model is a bit too underpowered and the 12 gauge is a bit too extreme. A 20 gauge would have been so much better than both. Then again, I have no experience in how me and my shoulder will take to a 12 gauge so I may be wrong to have negative feelings about it.
@@Charsept hmm. ah, ok. I they should have expanded on the MP12, like one already configured with sights, and possibly figured out a way to make loading a little faster. Or maybe even a semi auto edition. Do guns like that MP FPC have a market? I'm trying to figure out who's it supposed to appeal to.
When both of these firearms came out, they were marred with reliability issues. I really like the philosophy behind them but just haven’t purchased one because I’m not confident it will function reliably.
who would use that dot scope on this.. its a shot gun.. how accurate do you really need to be.. just point it literally anywhere and its a hit.. also if the shotgun is the best home defense weapon then holy mother of god is this the most choice option.. which model am i specifically referring to? the answer is yes..
you really do put some sort of sites on that thing, whether its red dot or iron sights. I found out the hard way. This was my first shotgun, and I took at to my intro to shotgun class and even at 15 feet, without sights the shots were pretty off (like since inches).
please don't take this the wrong way but, if you're talking an intro class then of course you came point and shoot without sights. it's something that will come with experience. having sights is a good idea but for home defense, ci would be just fine without them
@bobbing4snapples you have to understand that aiming and shooting without sights is very hard to do with the sw mp 12. It's a very unusual shotgun. I think it's great, but it's not good as a first shotgun.
