I used the JCM800 and JTM-45 liquid profile EQ to play around with JMP-1 (through Marshall's EL34 20/20) profiles I did myself. Honestly, much better. Or let me say - much more fitting. I mean, I play for +35 years, so what you expect to happen when turning knobs is kind of embedded in my DNA, ha ha. From me, thumbs up all the way for this update.
The video is very nice but I didn't understand one thing: after adding the vibrolux you set the eq (bass 4.5 and treble 7)... but when you later made the comparison I noticed that the original Bassman has the controls all at 12 hours (except the gain which is 4.6 like that of the liquid profile). There's something I'm missing. Thank you!
I assume you mean the generic, non-liquid eq? That defaults to the 12 o-clock settings, unless adjusted. Telling the liquid eq what settings the amp was at, is still the same as having the generic eq at 12 o-clock: until you change the value.
Probably 99% of us are using profiles from the rig exchange or purchased from a third party seller, so we have zero idea what the original values were. Am I wrong?
Yeah I’ve not seen any noted values in any of the ones I’ve gotten free or paid. Really doesn’t matter to me but this is cool technology nonetheless going into it
Just replied on FB. I may have missed something, but it looks like the only parameters you can adjust in Rig Manager, are the tone settings and using the drop down amp menu.

Any chance you could do a Video doing a totally new ground-up Liquid Profile and then compare the different Gain and EQ settings in the Liquid Profile to the equivalent Gain and EQ settings on the Real Amp being Liquid Profiled (?) To make it ideal, hopefully (?) you have one of the real Amps that Kemper have included in their OS10 List of Pre-Modeled Amps (?) All the best and thanks again. Alex I.
Hi Greg - THANKS for this video! Question: In first example you had a Bassman profile.. but in Amp Model choices there was no Bassman, and you chose Vibrolux Bright... my question: Why isn't there a Bassman available there? In my Amp Model choices there are some Fenders, Marshalls and Vox choices, but there are only about 15 choices. Where did these 15 choices come from? Did Kemper pre-liquifiy those and include them for us? I'm struggling to figure out how to get a Bassman or a Blues Junior to show up in Amp Models choice screen. Thanks for any insight! :)
They have a Tweed Bassman, which is different to the ‘60s version, so I looked for an amp that was similar and had the same controls. With Fender, the preamp circuits from each era, are basically the same. I took a guess that the Vibrolux was the brown version, which I know is the same circuit as the Bassman normal channel. If I was doing the Bass channel, I’d choose the Tweed Bassman, as I know the circuit is the same, other than the midrange control. Obviously most people wouldn’t know that though. You can try different models and see what sounds best to you. I’m not sure what the Blues Junior preamp is closest to? I’d look for something with the same controls. I did read that Kemper will be modelling more amps, but have no other info.
Great content! I just purchased a used kemper several days ago and have been spending a lot of time getting acquainted with it and how it works. A lot to learn but the basics a pretty intuitive luckily. Mine came with 700 profiles on it and I like many of them so that was a plus. It didn’t come with a manual so I have been watching a lot of RU-vid videos. I still need to set up rig manager as that seems much better than using the little screen on the unit. What studio monitors do you recommend? I bought Yamaha HS5s but I’m not a big fan so far so I’ll be returning them. Interestingly I have a Yamaha THR10 modeling amp (little desk amp) and have been running the kemper through that on the THR10s flat mode and I think it sounds better than the HS5s. Someone on RU-vid recommended Adam T7Vs for the kemper. I play at home so I use lower volume mostly. Any recommendations for monitors and / speakers? Cheers!
I’m not familiar with any currently available monitors. I’ve used the same ones for years. I think the important thing with monitors, is finding something you like and can trust and then getting to know them well.
It should be exactly the same process. I’m about to test the accuracy against profiles done at lower gain levels and I’ll do some merged profiles and check those too.
At the end of the day if someone hears it from a stage or their earbuds the chances of whether they know it’s a Kemper or Fractal or real amp or emulating plugin ect are pretty slim to none and that’s not leaning too much on the slim. Nobody will care either. Good is good and it’s all about what feeds us that are doing the performance. The Kemper is definitely feeding me adequately
