I bought my first Mustang when I turned 17, it was an 89 GT Hardtop - I went on to own 3 foxes (among other Mustangs), but owned a '91 GT Convertible in hunter green and gray. It was an automatic, wasn't especially fast and also had convertible top issues like this one (as they were putting their kit together I was thinking "and a relay, and thermostat and some hydraulic fluid for the top". But damn, it was such a fun car - it was literally my best friend. And then I crashed it being stupid. But anyway, they really are great cars, and just a blast to drive. A couple of notes - convertible 5 speeds are rare and from the sound, it sounds like it's got a gear. They cleaned up the luggage rack on the lid and added a small spoiler. The dash says 25th anniversary, so it was either 89/90, but the seat headrests are smaller than what came in those years (I'm assuming this car is an 89/90 and they just replaced the headrests). Has a Cobra Intake and they added white face gauges (which are a complete bitch to install, trust me) as well as an exhaust and who knows what else. The wheels suck, it needs 5 lugs, the brakes are atrocious in them and it definitely needs work - but the fact it's a 5 speed makes this one a gem. I'd take it in a heartbeat. Such a fun car for $4k.

"I like the thought of it" reminds me of high school when these came out. the real early ones even had a v8 version less than 100hp.(not kidding) my neck of the woods, like chevies.. could not leave them alone at all. I had a 78 zephyr and more than once wanted to swap their mustang stuff in. That sound is forever a piece of american history.. timeless. power doesn't even matter sometimes. Still great to cruise around.

Luckily, I come to my senses before pulling the trigger. If only I would have done the same for that E36 M3 I bought that has spent more time in the shop than my garage since January... And what should you do with this one? Paint it white and cruise A1A, of course...🤣
