Thank you so much for doing this. I have quite a few kens with the older neck style. Never knew what to do with them. The sad thing was they had beautiful rooted hair amazing eyes and so on. Thank goodness I did not get rid of them. Thank you again
This was the exact type of video I’ve been looking for! By any chance do you have any pictures or can you show what the Ryan rooted head mold would look like on Wheelchair Ken (without cutting off the excess neck on the head in case you haven’t done it yet). I’m looking to buy that same Rooted Hair Ryan head and I’d like to put it on the modern fully articulated Ken bodies but I’m scared to cut the heads’ neck shorter.
I have already cut the neck on the Ryan head and put him on a wheelchair Ken body, and he looks pretty good in my opinion but they fit on the modern bodies with their necks longer also, I just prefer to have a more natural look and a slightly bigger range of motion. Sorry I didn’t take any pictures of his on the body before his neck modification, but I’ll upload a comparison video if I find any more Ryans at the thrift stores.
I have a new Ken doll that's Asian and I want to change his closed mouth to an open mouth so he will look like my favorite singer: Dimash. Do you have mouth alteration instructions? Thanks
I do not have a video for that, but probably your best bet would be to build up a new mouth with either milliput or some vinyl glue in slow layers until you have it the way you want it and then repaint the lips and mouth. The problem then comes into how to match the colors but customizers do it all the time on insta
Great vid! I'd like to try this but I'm probably going to use an exacto knife since that's what I have used before. Do you warm up your dolls before swapping heads? I used to not do so and it was difficult & I ended up breaking some poor necks 😔
My general rule of thumb is if I can already squish the head I don’t bother heating them up, and if you watch a few of my other videos I do occasionally break a neck here and there but that tends to be on fashionista bodies thankfully
@@disneydprince oh so u didnt cut of his hair on the side? :) btw, I just tried this cut method and somehow I ended up with a long neck still and mobility was same 😭😭
Can a Ken head be swapped onto a Disney doll? I got a thrift batch of dolls today, and got home to discover I got some Disney dolls, which I hate. I took off the 3 men’s clothes to discover they have cool articulated bodies. But I hate their cartoon heads.
@@disneydprince thank you for reply! I am looking at them again this morning with a growing appreciation of their heads & faces. The artwork gives them a quirky bizarreness, like a Picasso. They’re cute with no clothes - they have molded-on tighty-whities, and the bodies are incredible! They feel good in your hand, they’re fun to manipulate- really high-quality workmanship and materials.
With older dolls like that you would have to break the neck and actually put a modern Ken head inside the older doll head to attach it to the newer bodies, not something I advise for rarer dolls like Grandpa Ken unless you are willing to ruin the doll.
The actual fasteners on a Barbie are smaller than a Ken doll, and the necks are about half as thick, so you could but it would look more like a bobble head than a doll at that point
