If you like me don't want to waste your time listening to the XXL Freshman mixtape, here goes an offering of one of the two rare gems on the XXL Freshman mixtape DL Link: hulkshare.com/xxzo8prh6djw
tired of hearing these comments saying Kendrick is the new 2pac. FUCK THAT NOISE. Kendrick Lamar is Kendrick Lamar, fucking accept it already. He's a beast without a faulty comparison.
Just because he's the "new" 2pac doesn't mean he isn't Kendrick... What they're saying is that he has the influential and meaning behind his music which is comparable to PAC, which is a very good thing.
I just can't understand how they can even compare drake and Kendrick. They are SOOO different. Drake can't make something like this even if him and all of young money worked on it for 20 years
He may suck to most of you but his shit is on top of the charts and has been for a minute.. (not all rappers of this generation) but a whole lot needs to catch the fuck up.. so stop hating and admire greatness haters..
this shit touches my soul i DONT UNDERSTAND how songs like this the relevant rare breed and so much more are slept on these are the songs that made me fall in love with kendrick
"These streets can turn a kid to killer in minutes. Not by choice but force to be a menace". For the people that don't understand how much of a struggle it can be to make it out & escape the streets & gang violence when that's all you know and grew up around.
I wish I could type "Kendrick shit I haven't heard" into RU-vid and find all these gems. Yall dont understand. I've been rockin with Kendrick for a minute and just now stumbled across this. Was this on a mixtape? I'm laying on my couch with headphones on hearing this and was lightweight angry when I knew nothing was coming after the third verse. It's like a movie cutting off during the climax. As much as a Kendrick fan as I am, I realize I have't heard every single song he's released but fuck, how did I miss this? Reminds me of His Pain. This would have been a dope interlude before Sing About Me.
Monroe Smith IV this s a interlude for sing about me this song the person hes portraying in the first verse of sing about me Keisha's song is the girl in the second verse he's amazing
Crazy to think 4 years later he puts out the greatest album ever made and then 12 years later 3 of his albums are some of the most influential and greatest albums ever made
the brother in this song is the guy from thr first verse of sing about me the girl in the second verse is Keisha's sister from Keisha's song remember in I'm dying of thirst "my brother man I cant take it" Kendrick makes all his shit go full circle gotta listen from the Kendrick Lamar e.p all the way to to pimpa butterfly he does that with multiple situations
I love this song. I honestly think its a pure classic. No doubt. I don't care what nobody else thinks, all I care about is Kendrick and the music he makes. Period. I'm not gone stunt and act like I've been listening to him since C4 or Training Day but I have been a fan since he was constantly dropping other mixtapes left and right. To me, Overly Dedicated will always be the best mixtape.
This some of the greatest sound I've heard in my life as far as the instrumental goes. And the lyrics are so sad but sometimes it's just what you want to hear.
if you're here in 2017, i hope you see this & i want you to let you know i hope you get pass any obstacle in your life rn and that your dreams come true. be safe and bless up.
hotcakes with syrup I love yaw we are equal man we forever gonna last in this world promise me y'all learn from yall mistakes man🙏 We aliens we are 1 of a kind remember but.came from the same orgin💯💯
Kendrick is the best mainstream lyrical rapper of all time. There might be a guy in some basement somewhere who's better, but until we hear him he doesn't exist!
What's crazy is, in the first verse of this song he tells the same story of the first verse from Sing About Me about Dave and his brother. Crazy to see how those two song are connected apart from the same sample!
Isn't it great to see how he received more recognition, and improved more and more throughout the years? O.D. was awesome, it had me really hooked to his music ever since then.
One of his most underrated songs. The storytelling here is incredible. Funny thing is this song has the sample as Sing About Me which to me was the best song on GKMC.
I agree. Kendrick has so much heart and soul in his music it's pretty amazing. His lyrics are genius. You know it's real music when someone's music actually makes you think hard about the lyrics, and you try to figure out what they mean. There's really no point of trying to argue with people about kendrick because some will just never understand him, his music or real music period. Whether they like it or not, this man is gonna be a legend. That's a fact.
Pac weren't the most lyrical rapper but what he had to say was more potent than anyone else hence he touched a lot of people. Kdot a lyrical genius and he keeping his subject matter/content on point...so far.
I mean that's not a stretch tho. Kendrick said It's dark and hell is hot is the album that made him start rapping seriously. And yeah that 3rd verse is mad similar to Damien 1.
ALL Kendrick albums/EP's/mixtapes (Before his songs became mainstream, to find them just look up the album name on RU-vid, you'll find the whole album). 2004: Youngest Head Nigga in Charge (First mixtape, age 16, "K. Dot") 2005: Training Day (w/ TDE) 2009: C4 (Beats from Lil Wayne's The Carter 3) 2009: Compton State of Mind (Unofficial mixtape, very exclusive! This is where he adopted the name Kendrick Lamar as his rapper name, his real name). 2009: Kendrick Lamar EP (Check out "Is it love" for a different side of Kendrick) 2010: Overly dedicated (His songs went partly mainstream here) 2011: Section.80 (Bit more mainstream) 2012: Good Kid M.A.A.D City (We all know this is where his songs went mainstream) You'll see, Kendrick was a much different artist from 2004-2009. Yet always has been an incredible artist who tells a story.
Jare Henderson chicago murder rate aint half as high as N.O.'s it just gets a lot of coverage that N.O. dont get cuz NO got MMAAAD fuckin problems, but truth is the both dangeruus as hell
Man this guy. Still wows me. 2 years ago he was in my top 5. Every song after is just icing pretty much...not just his witty gripping concepts w heartfelt yet complex lyrics but it usuallly. Matched over a soulful smooth beat!! #Complete MC
1 of Kendrick's best tracks to me, til this day. This 1 hit hard with the imagery & descriptions that take u there & story is deep & real. I can almost feel the LA heat on my skin listening cuz i can see the environment just by listening. Very dope track. I wish they didn't have to go thru that but it inspired this so it ain't all bad.
His style is so unique, not many people enjoy it for some reason. But if you understand what he is saying an trying to get us to hear its fucking genius. Anyone can rap about how fucked up the street's an life is but his creativity an delivery is mind blowing.
Agreed. I love how TDE can take a specific song and flip it 3 different times for their different artists but it still sounds different as all get out.
...someone started listening to rap music in 2003 lol Your opinion is worth less than a Mexican food stamp. I'm gonna take a moment and attempt to outline your character... You are most likely white. Live in the suburbs. Started listening to rap around 2000 possibly later. Wear baggy clothes and talk like a moron to fit in. You probably think drake is gangster and family guy is the best thing that ever happened to tv (the latter being a debatable topic lol) Oh and you more than likely have 2 black friends who let you say nigga so you can feel accepted by a culture you know nothing about... Even if I'm wrong on all counts, you still know nothing about rap lol
We know he's not Pac..he's Kendrick Lamar..Dope in his own right. People need to stop comparing these artists & let them have their own shine w/o mentioning someone else..Good grief!!!!
Don't hate for this but Kendrick is better than Pac. However, without Pac, there would be no Kendrick. Kendrick is just a natural evolution of him, a living legacy of Pacs lyrics.
This is one of the realist songs that I have ever heard. If you have ever been in this situation you can related. If not, will never understand. Kendrick is one of the best MC EVER!!!!
the thing about Kendrick to me anyways is that is rapping because this was his was way of escaping what he had to go through back in Compton he cares more about the music than he ever will about the money and thats something that not a lot of rappers do
