the aubreys angels who are now so salty and in their feelings crying "Kendrick was always gonna win because the people hate Drake" or "Drake couldnt have won because everyones jealous of him and want to see him lose" were not saying those words when Push Ups and Taylor Made came out. back then they were shouting "drop, drop, drop, drop" and saying Kendrick is afraid and cant write songs quickly. now theyre doing everything they can to deny that Kendrick won its hilarious
It was probably the best concert show ive watched. I still keep rewatching it. The whole world got to see a cultural moment. This will go down in history✊🏿🤘🏿
Not Like Us is a anthem for everything you want it to be for...Sometimes for me it's my Hiphop ain't just rap anthem, Black Americans ain't like everyone else anthem, my favorite team The Steelers ain't like every other team anthem etc etc..Its bigger then Drake to me...Its Queen's We Will Rock You or Champions songs..Its Archie Eversole's We Ready..Its Survivor's Eye Of The Tiger...To me it will forever fit in my head as a anthem...IT SHOULD WIN SONG OF THE YEAR...
The concepts of they and us really highlights those who are not for the culture vs. us, who partake and cherish it. It's a joyful song because this is a victory stance for "us". "Notice I said we, I'm what the culture feelin'." So you don't have to be a Drake or Kendrick fan to enjoy this song. If you side, partake, cherish and value this culture in a respectful manner, this song is for you and they not like us.
As expected, you come in with an amazing, comprehensive, well-rounded perspective. You’re one of the ONLY pundit’s including DJ Hed’s *phenomenal* set. You’re doing a great job acknowledging the cultural aspects of the event in this video, not just the headliners and hitmakers. W video. Salute to you!
My favourite part was euphoria performance. Incredibly hard track to perform, but Kendrick delivered as a master MC he is. I felt energy and emotion even at home in front of TV. Madness 🕺 Great overview of whole event! Thank you, chief 🥳
Tyler was prolly my favorite cause how caught off guard I was , I was hype 😂 Also you called it lol that was the first thing came to mind when 40 introduced Kendrick
Not Like Us is a Drake diss but it has now turned into something into different. That choice of a mustard beat, his flow being so west coast on that song made it a West anthem, plus that third verse made it a Black anthem. He made it so much larger than a Drake diss with the show and all the small little things. So 🔥
Appreciate you getting back home and doing a solo joint. Much love to those other brothers (especially Wayno, I liked him on Everyday Struggle and his own show with Eddin), but the audio quality when you're at home is so much better.
I don’t care what no one say - 6:16 N LA was the highlight for me. Thats that cypher on the block work where a nigga put his hand on ya shoulder and just talk that talk. Plus look at his energy on that verse vs the others. No fumbles, no low energy …super clear…Dot was feeling himself on that jawn. Thats the energy I like.
Dope top 5. I'm glad you gave Dj Hed's set the number 2 spot. Kendrick showed alot of selflessness by giving shine to all those, at this point, regional-only artists on such a large platform. the lights and attention were too big for some of the acts, who didn't have great performances, but I think something like that will bare fruit for those artists down the line. I'm from an era, where different regions had specific sounds, so despite being up in the nosebleeds, seeing local faves like Rj ("Get Rich"); Problem ("Like Whaaat") and Dom ("When I Come Around") doing records that are huge in LA, but didn't blow up nationally, was special. Everybody in our section of The Forum rapped along to all the verses, sang the hooks, and danced. Overall, just a great event. Kendrick really put on for the city. Can't wait to see the "Not Like Us" video, along with hearing a new Kendrick album, whenever he decides to drop.
I was there, it was my 17th k dot concert … I NEVER would have imagined that he would perform euphoria.. maybe the intro… but he rapped the WHOLE SONG.. and the arena went bar for bar with him.. I can’t describe the feeling, if you weren’t there it’s hard to really feel it.. it came through on the stream but the energy was nuts… and the fact that he might not ever perform the song in its entirety… it MIGHT have been my fav performance I have ever seen
The man won a Pulitzer Prize. Multiplatinum records. Grammy wins. World tours. This ain’t his first time being the focal point of the game … maybe to fans who weren’t paying attention OR fans who are only fans of one artist. But fans of hip hop know
Yea broski we need both. Podcast vibes from the last joint was tough 🔥 Yall keep shit a 💯 and eventhough Trav was tripping it didn’t feel like he was frauding. He truly believes some of those wild ass takes🤦🏾♂️.
This is why I believe Kendrick did not use bots. Kendrick is a hip-hop purest. Part of the battle is not about Drake dissing him but it is about Drake tainting the rap game in his eyes (my eyes too). Kendrick wanted to bury Drake and show him who and what hip-hop really is. Using bots would defeat the purpose? Would it not? Plus, I believe 6:16 in LA is one of the slept on hottest tracks. Why not use bots for that? People have to get their hands out of the speculation jar and dip them in the logic bag. I advise everyone to read a book called Freakanomics, it will show you how to think differently. I am not a sponsor, lol, I am a mental philanthropist, 😂.
@@SweetieMs I ain’t saying there’s any hate. It’s more like put some respeck on Soulo name. If they wanted to keep it hype he has that track FOMF. In fact Q does adlibs on that onw
@@quesostuff1009 I’m saying that I don’t believe there was a lack of respect for Herbert in any way. I was also disappointed that I didn’t get to see him rap, but I just assumed that was his own decision
Drake planted the seed for the Westcoast unity angle when he started playing with legends with the A.I. and speaking on LA street culture. Great play from Kendrick to pick that up, run with it and turn negative energy into positive.
16:05 I still think you're underselling it. Kendrick could have gotten on stage and made the show about himself and people would have LOVED him for it. If he said "Fuck Drake, I'm the King of Rap, this is the Kendrick Era" people would be using the phrase Kendrick Era for years. But as you said, that's not what happened. Kendrick said "this is the younger generation, these are my friends, this is my music, this is my city, I love you goodnight" He just comes across as such a real, genuine dude. You can see all the effort that went in to doing things right.
Hope you enjoy your time with tha family. I loved tha Ab-Soul moment. That was SPECIAL when you really consider everything he been thru jus happy for that mans
@@RobMarkman yeah I saw him at Day N Vegas and Mr Morale tour and the Championship tour and he’ll occasionally say a line too early in the verse and repeat the line or do it in reverse order, not exactly “fumbling” per say, but yeah just something I noticed. I loved how he changed up lyrics with new potent jabs at Drake though, it was great. One of the best Hip Hop performers hands down.
who actually cares that Kendrick doesnt know all the words to these 2-month old records? the crowd knows them word for word. he catches himself and hes able to segue into whatever verse he needs to be on anyway. the energy is perfect. if Kendrick's only mistake for his whole set is the fumble on euphoria's 2nd verse and NLU's 3rd verse, that the crowd followed him through anyway, that's almost nothing 😅
8:00 If Drake's name not on 6.16 in LA then that's a song that will be timeless imo. Gonna listen to it agter this video to see if this opinion is solid 😂
I love the vid. The only thing is bot? Xome on. That somg was playinywvery whee all around the world. You hot bot number 1 on Billboard. Sexond, just look at the vids on RU-vid of that song bumping at Weddings, graduations xollege bands are atarting etc. Sont fall dor drake propaganda Rob, lol
I’m not falling for it. I’m just saying a lot of songs have fake streams. I wouldn’t be surprised. And even if it did, it doesn’t matter. The song is a hit.
Why not he is a West Coast artist just not a gangsta one. He embodies the west coast regular dude who has some nerd to him. That's why he was on the stage.
@@quintonmiller8266 no one is saying he didn’t deserve to be there. It’s just that most people don’t recognize Tyler as a typical LA artist - he isn’t typical at all, but he’s not seen as an artist who has a lot in common with the typical LA artists. It’s a perception thing. This concert helped break that
In his career? Possibly. He underestimated Kendrick. He was also battling a bunch of other dudes at the same time, but honestly Weeknd, Future, Rocky, Ross… none of em were really threats like Kendrick was.
I don’t think Dot just straight up fumbled. I believe it was the result of intentionally trying to omit/change certain lines/words. I believe throughout his performance he was very intentional with his words
