Lupe is one of the top lyricists of this era but even though he defeated Royce Da 5'9, I put Nas, Big Pun, Royce Da 5'9, Eminem, Conway the Machine, Jada, J. Cole, Kendrick, Black Thought, Mac Miller, Prodigy, Rakim, BDK, Kool G. Rap, Scarface, Big L, Cam'ron, Guru and Ab-Soul at or above his level in my opinion. That is not meant to be a shot at him because think of all the MCs that puts him above historically and that list is ever changing. I'm sure I forgot about someone else as well.
Another unexpected side effect of the beef is that people are turning back to real artists and people who make content because they're sincere about their love for the subject like you. Found myself listening to underground hip hop artists again. For so long, we've been served art and content that pandered to "numbers" and clicks. The Drake era felt like a 10-year fog where we chewed and spat out bubblegum art and they always had something more lined up after that. Next time he will be cautious before engaging a beef while trying to hide his hand. I don’t like Big Sean for his slimey and coward moves that he disguises through his fake Yoga zen persona.
