Part number I bought through sears parts direct are 5304476700 freezer temp control thermostat. I also bought the green bulb since it was burnt. 5304492852 freezer indicator light
Update..if you are only replacing the green bulb, the part number i provided is a assembly, it comes with the housing..make sure you have the electrical connector nut, there is video how to use the electrical connector nut. all wires are color coded and just cut the old light bulb out from the connector nut. cut the opposite wires also, basically get rid off the old connector nut, strip the wires , pair it side by side color coded, and let the new connector nut do the twisting, secure the nut with electrical tape so dirt wont go in the connector nut opening. you can watch my video, there is a part where how i used the electrical tape

Hey . You were right on with testing the thermostat. I tried everything else. Bought parts I didn’t need. Once I jumped the two wires together away the freezer went. Replaced the part and I’m good to go. Thanks.

Thanks for the video. I fixed me freezer. It is master chef, but looks the same. I already replaced relay and protector and only with help form this video I finally found the problem. Checked old thermostat on multimeter and surely it did not show anything and did not beep. Found similar cheap part on amazon and bum, working again!

Take apart terms regulator ….. a few copper strips there , bend little bit them and you will get good contact …And working regulator is ready to work again :)

Did you have to open the back of the freezer chest to "pop" open the control/power nob panel in the front? My power indicator bulb isn't working and I was wondering if you had to carefully pry the panel open from the front or if you had to open the rear and push the panel open. Thanks. ✌

Hi, Dan. Great video. Thanks for including the OEM part numbers, too. Can you comment on how to install just the indicator light wire(s)? You mentioned having to "cut them" and maybe also removing the blue casing from the new wire? Not sure that was all clear in your video, and my guess is others would want to know, simply because these bulbs tend to burn out a lot, and also confuse people about whether or not the freezer itself is broken. I think you would help a lot of people if you explained this, too. Thanks for any help you can offer!

To answer some questions on how to remove knob/control cover.... Take off knob like stove knob, pull out... Remove but with needle nose long pliers... Then remove side cover to housing unit... You will find (2) screws, very awkward to get out, becareful of the copper pipes. It took several tools for me ... Rachet tool, bent screwdriver, and a lot of patience😳 Hope it helps... I have Kenmore 255.19502010. Update... To access the screw that is away from side better... Laying it on it's side and removing from the bottom is a better way. Just remember after fixing it, to allow it to be upright for 24 hours before turning it on. I actually had my hubby hold ours upright on a tub, so I could access that screw. Likely, will do the same, to close it up. Hope it helps. Be care not to damage light bulb...

I just noticed my old Kelvinator thermostat has failed it is running all the time, although if i put pressure on the switch it does turn off. so time for a new switch. gee less than a month ago my 6 year old fridge start replay stuffed up and I got it running. this is the opposite with comp running all the time.

I dont remember but when you open the access panel from the compressor, you will see the back side of the control panel

Osborne Guy no power at all. So I replaced the relay that is next to the compressor but did not work. Come to find out my thermostat switch assembly was faulty

A few weeks ago, I noticed it had defrosted. There was no sound of the compressor running. I looked this problem up and a number of results suggested replacing the start relay and / or overload. I ordered replacement parts, and they have now arrived, however I have misplaced the photograph I took of the original wiring. The start relay is a 3 pin relay Could someone please advise on how this should be wired? The brown and blue pair of wires both came from what looks like a capacitor box. The blue and white wires appear to come from what I believe to be a thermostat box, which is then connected to the mains.

Usually these kinds of freezers will have a wiring diagram pasted on them somewhere visible. The ones I've seen typically are on the back of the unit.

Thanks Dan for this informative video. I have a chest freezer that its not working, I have to test the temperature switch but I don't have a tester. Can I hook up directly the two wires you mentioned to see if that will run my freezer and determine the switch if there is continuity and before I buy the parts. I'll appreciate your feedback. Henry Marquez you can try, try to put an automotive fuse so when something goes wrong, it would pop the fuse. If you want to be sure I think they sell a cheap multimeter at autozone. Hope that helps

Thanks for the video. I ended up switching my switch and light and my deep freezer still isn't working. Do you have a video for replacing the relay? You had mentioned early on in the video that you changed it previously. I have this same freezer.

For the relay, when you buy it. Take a picture of the current relay while the wires are still hook up. Then match your new relay and should help you wiring it.

When it wasn’t working was it just not freezing because I have same model and it’s not freezing. The light I notice is also dead. I see people put Freon in their freezer. Just curious because I bought all the parts and it’s getting here in a few days. And don’t want to have it replaced if it was Freon

Mine was not powering up plus blown bulb. It was working before and it has stopped. I looked for a sign of leak on all lines, i went the cheap route which is replaced relay, then led me to switch itself which it worked

Hi Dan, I have a similar issue, except only the indicator light is burned out not the thermostat. It looks like your freezer ran when you bypassed the thermostat even though the indicator light was burned out. My indicator light has 2 prongs which has power going into it from the power cord and then from light to thermostat. Couldn't tell if your model did same. Anyhow, do you think overriding thermostat would work?

It can work but your compressor is going to run all year until a relay burn or compressor. That thermostat is suppose to regulate the freezer temp and cycle the compressor.

@@DanOfAllTrades Thanks for your help. The thermostat has continuity. I bypassed thermostat and the compressor turns on for about 15 seconds then turns off. I removed the relay but it doesn't rattle. Installed a 3 in 1 universal relay but compressor still only turns on for 15 seconds then shuts off. The thermostat and relay seem good. The indicator light is burned out. How can I tell if compressor is bad?

@@alexhernandez1442 that requires a special pressure gauge to test if the compressor seals are bad, but i dont remember if they have service ports. One thing is check ohms of the motor, or amp on how much its pulling. It could be u have a weak magnetic field in relay or overload protection where it disenage the compressor due to increase in amps running compressor. Is there any sign of leaks in the tubing?

Visual check for refrigerant leak..its like greenish corrosion..mostly in piping connections..check plug fuse..i don't know your freezer model or brand.. mine did not had one..check compressor relay continuity with ohm meter..lastly..it could be the switch thermostat like my issue..

My guess is the thermo switch, the knob that you turn off and on and set the temp. That switch has a built in thermo sensor and you might have a stuck switch. Are you able to turn if off? I am assuming that when you turn it on and will not shutoff for days.

Cecil Castlemaine it’s hard to tell by not looking and testing it. But I think, either the protector got weaker or the freezer compressor motor is shorting out

Destiny Wood I don’t have the video of installing it but that part number worked for me. You can also check sears website for parts. I remember putting the serial number since the sticker on my freezer said sears. Then I started googling the parts
