For those who read the manga, this was one of the reasons why ichigo unlocks his true potential and even when he was training with zangetsu Ichigo would see Kenpachi and remember their fight

That moment when you realize that since this happened in Ichigo’s inner world, that this was actually Zangetsu(white/hallow ichigo) trying to get through to Ichigo.

This speech is for everyone who doesn't want to fight but has to eventually.

I love how Zangetsu manifested Byakuya, Kirya and Kenpachi to teach Ichigo that fighting isnt playing around and should be taken seriously and that there are times when he must pick up his sword to kill or he will die and he must tap into his killer instinct in order to survive.

I believe the reason Ichigo doesn't have a goal to work towards like other anime protagonists (even Saitama has a goal and that's to fight someone stronger than he is) is because everything he does up until the epilogue of Bleach has been done so instinctively. Rescue Rukia? Instinct. Rescue Orihime? Instinct. Kill Hollows? Instinct.

Considering "Hollow Ichigo" is a reflection of a part of him, how Ichigo can go about not addressing then embracing that part of himself is beyond me. Kenpachi’s speech drives home the point of the entire arc: If you want your desires to come true, you will need to fight. Wether that be physical or mental, conflict is a natural part of the world. To try and avoid conflict merely instigates a different conflict either in the immediate or in the future. Kenpachi is a representative of conflict, pure and simple. He is unavoidable, he cannot be outmaneuvered or outsmarted, there is just overpower and overcome. Just as you must overpower and overcome conflict.

Replace the word "fight" with "work" (with a few minor/selective alterations) and it becomes a conversation my workaholic dad and I might have about our work-life balance. I resonate with it a lot. These are the most WISE words EVER SPOKEN!!! Even I don't know if we fight in order to gain power or gain power in order to fight! But all of our lives we live to fight! Its true! We fight in order to gain knowledge that will get us that dream job! We fight in order to be more attractive for that girl we like! We fight to be more charismatic and become more popular than the other guys/girls! We ALL live to fight!!!! Its fact!!!
