On June 22, 2019 Kentucky Peerless Distilling released their first bourbon in 100 years! Over 10 decades have passed since Peerless Bourbon has been sold and the Peerless four-year-old bourbon is the first Peerless Bourbon available without a prescription since Prohibition.The new Peerless Small Batch Bourbon is barrel proof, uses a Sweet Mash process, is 4 years old, non-chill filtered and has an MSRP of about $69-80 bucks.

I know this a 4-year-old review, but it prompted me to get a bottle (two actually), so I revisited it this evening and was pleasantly surprised to have the taste of this great whiskey be just as good as I remembered. Really a jewel for such a young spirit.

Walked into Costco and found two cases sitting there. I picked one up tried it it was damn good. If you see more than one I advise you to pick them up

Thanks for the story - I've seen this bottle on the shelf, but never paid much attention to it, assuming it was just another sourced, over-priced bourbon, but knowing they distill and barrel in-house is a huge selling point to me. I'm gonna pick up a bottle next time I see it. I've already tried their Double-Oaked offering, and liked that a lot.

I just picked up a bottle at a steal.... $59.99 and it’s absolutely amazing. Definitely was able to pick a little more after the initial sip. Tasted the caramel and vanilla. Good balance of spice and just as you mentioned the orange blossom/honey burst I was getting that too. Excellent. Great review and spot on!!

Since it was a limited edition of, I think, only 1000 bottles or so you were lucky to get one as they sold out in 1 day. We were there late July and they had none in 750s, luckily we were able to purchase some 200s for $25 each. They had their 2nd batch come out in August, if you get a chance try that and let us know how they compare. It was interesting to note that their rye sells more than the bourbon. Nice review.

Great job getting a review out so quick! Looking forward to trying this sometime in the future! I loved visiting Peerless on the Bourbon Trail, and their ryes that I tasted were fantastic (brought home a single barrel "Honey, oak, and citrus."

I think Russel's reserve is a bit more complex than this but this has a ton of flavor and an incredible mouthfeel. Wouldn't think it's only 4 years old.

Sounds like a bottle for your collection but for everyday, Russell’s seems to have a similar profile but more aged? Complex?

I would agree. Russel's reserve is more complex but with that said I've never had a 4 year old bourbon that had this kind of mouthfeel and flavor. As this stuff gets older and prices come down it could be one of the best out there. Cheers.

Jason, Sounds like a real good one and amazing at 4 years old. Is that bottle from "Larry"? Congrats on putting this together after the Saturday night "tastings" and live streams. So just under the price of Bookers at $70 to 80. Cheers!

Hey DJ. No this was bobby and Sam's bottle. I wanted to review it so I can send.it back out to them. I think all the Peerless stuff will come down in price a bit eventually but it's damn good.

It's really because all the processes they use to make their whiskey's are more expensive. Sweet mash, low entry proof, sourcing their own grains... But it pays off in the flavor. It doesn't taste like a 4 year old bourbon. But I do understand 80 dollars being steep.
