Yeah as much as I wanna rank TSU higher I can’t… they’re already packing it up for the Ohio Valley conference. They’re still clean and sound great no doubt but…. Can’t keep playing the same book. Cmon now…
They have balance. KSU is mello heavy AND dependent. honestly some of them could be put on trumpet. TSU Trumpets are not Dominate, they just have better Harmony cause its More of them.
TSU trumpets ARE dominant. Even in harmony and it isn't just their voicing. It's their overall tone quality, projection, pitch accuracy, range, accents, phrasing. They sound like a stage-ready soul band. And the entire AoB's control is...damn!
People still sleeping on KSU. I been trying to tell people. KSU is the band to watch out for.them dudes not to be played with. If they get a more numbers, they will definitely be a threat to Swac bands. I've seen these dudes in alot of Battle and i never seen them lose 1 yet. They're the new kids on the block
I was there. KState sounded excellent! They really played to their crowd and was not intimidated by TSU ‘s size. They were also very entertaining. AOB was on a whole different level with musicianship. Both bands did well; however, TSU was the better band.
KySt with the W. What KySt lacked in numbers there song selection was on point. Tnst sounded crisper but the book was the same so KySt with a dub for me!
TnSU impregnated me with that first one! Control, tone quality, intonation, articulation, phrasing, balance, arrangement, emotion...come take care of this musical child!
I'm def a new fan of KSU, they have the look, the sound and a swag to the band, I'm digging they books omg! Watch out hbcu bands, they will give any band a good battle
First of all thank you for the excellent footage I hope the bands in future line up directly across from each other like these two bands. Both bands sounded good and I mean real good. KSU brought the funk them tubas and trumpets sound like a 200 piece band. TNSU was good with cool arrangements but they have to maintain the element of suprise by switching the music I am not gon cap it was a tie for me.
I love that neither band sounds like the other but both came to play. KSU got some contemporary jazz stuff in their arrangements and they executed it really well. TnSU just has that trumpet dominance so their melody is almost never swallowed when they play. I give it to TnSU because of that and they had less wrong notes if at all. KSU had some wrong notes in I think second to last or last song they played. It was btones and mellos and trumpets playing wrong notes. Both band staffs...are TEACHING. This was wonderful.
I see many programs this year are playing the same select songs every game🙄 my goodness… 😴 KSU nice selections, powerful sound, very entertaining (tuba line and selections were FUNKY❤️ make you want to move) p.s. JACKSON STATE holds my favorite “Candy Rain” but I like what y’all did with yours and the TUBAS🤭 TSU boring but nice powerful sound
Interesting battle to say the least.....Tenn St had better sonority, due to them having a better balance of instrumentation...Plus, Tenn St. played with dynamics throughout the entire 5th. In addition, they played a variety of songs from different genres....On the other hand, K- State played every song triple Forte. The power was phenomenal for a band that small in size, but exhausting after so long. Playing loud is not a skill. In addition, K State played only R&B (old and new) songs only..........So, it all depends on what an individual likes. In my opinion, both bands were GREAT......FAMU Marching 100" Alumn....
Kentucky State hands down. They basically matched tnsu power and they are less than half their size. They were also clean. Only time tnsu had any power was when they were playing all those unison notes on whatever that song was lol. Anybody would sound loud doing that. Kentucky state ain’t playing with y’all boys man.
Noooo TSU MANNN🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿. Ok, everyone KNOW that you alls sound is amazing, but that BOOK😳😤🤦🏿… Get rid of whoever brought that “no swag, no life” BOOK to this battle. K-STATE with the EASY WIN because they sounded amazing for the size as well as was balanced and had the better book in every round…. TNSU slept on KSU that’s what it was.
@@actualfactual1460 what did KSU play that could touch Maybach 3 for real? The best song they played was Rockstar and They played that every week just like TSU played Loki that KSU can't touch . So what selection you referring to.. KSU sounded good that shocked people but not better than TSU..
@@gandrews8655 They sounded excellent for their size. The fact that we are even debating this is silly. TNSU should be walking laps around a band this size, but KSU gave them all they wanted. That, in my opinion, gives them the W.
