I love my TS-50. I Have mine running through a Kenwood AT-200 manual tuner, it works just great. I've just had to replace the memory module backup battery, a pretty easy job to do.
Be aware, these radios did not age well. TS50s suffered from dry joints in the DDS modules which led to intermittent faults. Fixing the DDS modules is not too difficult if you can handle a little bit of SMD soldering, you just need to reflow the solder on the ladder resistor packs. The more worrying problem is the high failure rate over time of the SM electrolytic capacitors. The SM electros fail when the electrolyte eats through the aluminum case of the capacitor and then flows over the PC boards and starts eating the copper circuit tracks. In my experience it;s not a matter of if the caps fail but when as they will all eventually fail and need replacement. Another problem I ran into was the need to use a circuit board connection extension kit when fault finding on the TS50, Kenwood did make these and once upon a time they were available from Kenwood spare parts, but that was a long time ago and I found that the kits are no longer available here in VK. Mabey you might have better luck in the US.
did you ever sell this radio combo.. i have both the ts50 and at50 many years... the ts50 is a good radio.. the at50 however is not the greatest antenna tuner. its slow.. any modern day ldg works completely faster and quicker than you can ever do your self and its automatic. honestly any tuner is somewhat better than the at50. it might look nice and you think its dandy because its a matching set. fear not. the at50 is the least of the concerns. the ts50 is a dynamite radio and has an exceptional sound on air. many kenwood radios and control systems are modeled around the initial design of the ts50. its simply a very good radio.
