yes i get loss of appetite, *severe* irritability, intense drowsiness and worse focus etc but ay still better than liver damage from the alternative 🥲

YES IT IS RUINING MY LIFE UTS CAUSING SEVER DEPRESSION, ANUEXTY, RAGE, 9H MY GOSH WHEN I RAGE CUS OF KEPPRA 1000 XS 2 DAY I BREAK ALL MY DISHES AND DO NOT WANT TO BE AROUND PPL AT ALL! EVEN MY CLOSE FAMILY. I SLEEP WALK, I SLEEP EAT, MAKES MY STOMACH SICK, CAUSE SPOUTS OF HOURS TO DAYS OF CRYING, OR BEING UPSET OVER EVERYTHING IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. It makes me feel sleepy but that's about it when I was on the other meds my Dr had me on I literally felt like I was coming down off of meth so thank God for Keppra I can handle a little sleepy compared to being a full on zombie

Two of my sons developed epilepsy at 12 years old (they are 4 years apart in age.) Presents as tonic-clonic seizures. They have been on keppra for 5 years and 1 year respectively. They are seizure free on keppra, they tried weaning my 17 year old after 3 years no seizures on meds and he relapsed, they put him back on keppra. I've heard people talk about the rough start to keppra. It's true; lots of moodiness, don't want to be touched or hugged, depressed, tired, angry (but some could be the disappointing diagnosis of epilepsy.) Our boys did best by staying active. We'd take multiple short walks everyday, mad libs, throw a ball back and forth, sit in the sunshine and talk, go to a nice park. Around day 7 the moods began to break and by day 10 to 12 they were pretty much back to themselves. Hope this helps!!

Wow, thank you for sharing this first hand account! It’s great that you all have figured out a system. Although it’s a bummer they have to have Keppra, I’m glad that it is working for them!

Same here the first couple of days were hard! But I pushed myself to get out and interact with people! A month later I’m back at work and fell like myself!!!

@@azramirez7674 when i first started taking keppra (800mg once daily) i would sleep for most of the day, only being awake for like less than 4 hours a day 😓 but now i’m on keppra 500mg time release and it’s mostly just anger all the time 🥲 so glad to hear that it’s working for you!

@@EmmaJohnsonShenanigans I am awaiting a disability decision as a medical disorder disqualifies me from commercial 🚚 driving. Doctors have me on 1000mg twice a day.... Wow such a rollercoaster. 😆

My daughter is 14, she started having seizures at 12, also had a head injury at the back of her head at age 9. The seizures increase when not getting enough sleep. Generally her seizures would last 30seconds to over a minute with a loss of memory followed with a headache then very sleepy. We did not want her to take Keppra, so have been giving her CBD in very low doses, but seizures kept happening, along peeing her bed. Today we will put her on a very low dose of Keppra. What motivated us to go from CBD to Keppra, this pass weekend we think she had a GRAND MAL SEIZURE. It was very scary for my wife & i. We want the best for our daughter, praying that this goes well. Lack of sleep seems to contribute to her seizures. Thankyou for your video.

@@GilSolanoREEGT Thankyou for inquiring, after much discussion my wife & decided to still stay with "CBD" . That was 3wks ago. So during this time she has been getting about 9 to 10 hrs of sleep. We went from 0.5mil to 1ml of CBD. We thought this was working, then 2nights ago my wife said " you know it's been at least 3wks since the last seizure" & sure enough yesterday she had "we think" had a mild seizure. So now it looks like we will be putting her on "The Keppra" my wife barely got any sleep worrying. As do i. Again thankyou.

I understand your reluctance to put your child on medications, but for some children/adults, medications are the only way to stop seizures (or other conditions). I tried everything "homeopathic" first, including CBD oil, etc. Nothing else helped but meds. I sure hope the CBD oil helps! x

I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1969 when I was a kid. Over the next 12 years or so I was on everything from Dilantin, Zarontin, Phenobarbitol, Dexedrine, Valium and others, but mostly Dilantin and Zarontin in the 80s and 90s. My last grand mal was in 1994. I didn't really have any problems until a few weeks ago when I had a grand mal in the morning ... and then another on Thanksgiving! So now I'm on 2500 mgs of Keppra each day. My MRI came back "clear" but I still have an EEG on Friday.

Just got a prescription for Keppra today. I am looking for what ithers experience. My Neurologist specializing in muscle movement disorders has not diagnosed me but my symptoms are both myoclonus in daytime and dystonia at night, aka nocturnal epilepsy. She said Keppra worls for both. I had a previous diagnosis for nocturnal epilepsy snd a second opinion doctor piinted out myoclonus. Dhe referred me to another Neurologist who regerred me to the one i saw today. I really like her.

I do take those pills to control my myoclonic seizures Let me tell ya, it SOMETIMES work My arm spasms only happens when I wake up and it hurts really bad and I actually am suffering It started on my birthday (7/25/2022) it was the worst birthday I ever had But on may 15 after Mother's Day I was diagnosed with myoclonic seizures, when me and my mom found out she started crying and I was shocked 1 take 10 keppra pills a day, 5 when I wake up and 5 when before I go to bed It’s working so far!!! Sometimes doesn’t work BUUUT atleast it wasn’t bad as it was before!!! ✨✨✨

I've been taking Keppra 2 500 mg tablets a day at 5 and 5 it works better than all the other meds I was on before and the side effects are very minimal

Relatively new? Are you kidding? I was placed on a 500 mg dose 2x daily with other drugs for about nine years, and all the other drugs gave me such awful side effects including explosive temper. I finally had to ask why the hell my keppra hadn't been increased instead of trying me on different drugs. I'm now on 1000 mg and happy at last.

I diagnosed with epilepsy last year in January of 2022 and they put me on kappa and the side effects I got loss of appetite, drowsiness and headaches and also some other side effects

I take 3 grams a day and I haven't had someone tell me I've been in the ICU in two years. I do get tired and have once or twice gone down a rabbit hole of disturbing thoughts but in 40 years it's been better than everything else.

@@GilSolanoREEGT Unfortunately, a bit worse because I had a couple of seizures and the dose was bumped up which worsened the dark thoughts but controlled the seizures. My neurologist is very slowly introducing lamotrigine so that he can eventually reduce the Keppra to a level I can tolerate but we have to get the lamotrigine to an appreciable level before reducing the keppra but I have a lot of support during the adjustment now that people know what's been going on. I know from years of experience that getting medication right is not easy.

Are used to take the extended release, but it got to be too much to handle after a while so my neurologist made it so that I take the same strength by it take three tablets in the morning and three tablets at night

My son was on Keppra twice p/Day and clobazam at night, that worked for 2 months and dr suggested reduce Keppra slowly…we were half way of the withdrawal and seizures came back, we increased again slowly and seizures got worst to the point he got Todd Syndrome on his right leg and arm. Now we are beginning to control the seizures still on Keppra + clobazam day and night. Not very high dose but im concern if this work and need to be permanent because I was hoping Keppra would do the work itself. He referred us to an epileptiologist but He will wait months before they see him. He’s 10y/o No side effects with Keppra bit I’m surprised how they came back harder when reducing the dosage.

I have taken Keppra my doctors raise my dose up and down and nothing seems to work but I still take it and have less seizures but I would love to drive but my doctor won’t let me

Thank you for sharing, Rigo. Yes, unfortunately you cannot drive if you have epilepsy. But, you're saying that the Keppra is reducing the seizures but not eliminating them completely?

@@GilSolanoREEGT Yes I have less seizures there’s times when I’ve only had 1 seizure in 6 months or 9 months then there’s been times when I have more like 2 or 3 in a month but that’s all but I can tell sometimes when I’m going to have a seizure and other time’s when I can’t but I would like to drive

I’ve been on Keppra for 20 years and as of last year I had my license restricted by my doctor because my seizures increased so don’t lose hope it’s possible just have to be seizure free for a year and a half and have them we’ll controlled at least in the state of Virginia

I've taken leviteracam 250 mg daily for more than 10 years I've recently been told by my neurologist to discontinue the medicine but it's caused some side effects on me like weight loss and hair loss Will my Weight and hair be normal again as I've left the medicine Please reply 🙏🙏 I'm really concerned
