Just bought a soloist. In the reviews people complained about the door and rain been able to get in when it was open. I had hoped to do the same as you did with the door flap. Nice to see it works before the tent arrives. Great trip out thanks for sharing.
Lovely relaxing camp Dave, shame it was spoilt by those midges.I’ve been caught out too, except I didn’t have a head net. Think I set a personal best in breaking camp! Lol! Tent mod looks a winner, loads of space there.Atb Anthony 👍👍👍
There was clouds of the little vampires waiting for you mate , nice little spot though, nice shots of the wild flowers and time lapses, only thing with woodland camping in the summer, shame I'm too big for that tent i probably would of looked at getting it in the future otherwise, good to see you racking up the wild camps , all the best 👍
Thanks Gaz , they just ganged up on me as got out the tent lol . I think anyone over 6ft it would be a bit tight would be best if you could actually try one out ... Getting the camps in as might struggle over school hols or maybe not as they are older now . TFW atb Dave...
Nice idea that Dave with the poles holding door open like that,be oreyt if I used poles but I don't but think I may try come up with a similar idea.bloody midges they're a nightmare ain't they but a prime location there & with no breeze.tfs mate.Andy.
Thanks Andy a couple of sticks would suffice I reckon , yeah they love blood little bstards 😂 hence why I did a summit camp on my last one away from the wee buggars atb Dave 👍🏻
Nice little vid 👌 I have just took delivery of my Soloist - looking forward to using it for the first time. Yes those midges looked a pain, those head nets are a good - sometimes overlooked - investment! Got yaself another sub! ATB adam 👍
them bloody midge's man .they got me on thursday night camping low next to water up the cheviots should of put my skin so soft on earlier lol. well at least you got out & had a couple of beers. take it easy.
Nice one Dave 👌. I am very lucky that the dreaded midge doesn't seem to like the south west or not where i seem to camp any way. I don't think I could stand the airborne invasion. Thanks for sharing Dave. Atb Sconja 👍
Cheers Sconja , I am down in Plymouth next month I will bring some down for you all lol .. to be fair I have avoided them for most of my camps but they are orrible little things atb Dave ...
Thanks Jiffy , I have “skin so soft “ but couldn’t find it in the depths of my bag 😂 nothing really stops the little buggars unless you carry a flamethrower lol TFW atb Dave 👍🏻
Yes parked at cuddys hall plenty of room to park , the route says its closed but it isnt .. its old signage that needs removed . Just follow the tracks to blacklyne house atb Dave
Yeah, gnats/midges, no...Not too bad down here, though I find they can be worse on Autumn evenings for us. It's a lovely campsite that one so it's a real shame it's plagued.
Thanks Si it was perfect conditions wet and warm 😂 for midgies , I will now only use there for colder camps where no midges and stick higher up where it’s always breezy .tfw atb Dave 👍🏻
I like it due to its really small pack size , I have used it in cooler camps down to 5c but I sometimes take my cheap down quilt to lay over me also . It’s surprising even after a warm day how cool it does drop at night . TFW atb Dave
@@BorderRambler Cheers mate, thanks for the reply! Yeah I was looking at this bag as something a little lighter than the current bag I have, but here in Oz were are heading into winter and was wondering how far you could push this one ;)
@@BorderRambler I live near the Cairngorms National Park and will go at any time in the warmish months IF there's a steady wind - preferably over 15mph. A lot of people have been put off going in the summer months but it's a reliable wind that's crucial if you're to have a nice trip during the midge season.
@@omen828 Yes woodland camps for colder months and the warmer months needs a good stiff breeze keeping those midges away . Would love to visit the cairngorms some day as it looks a beautiful place .
I really like it , but it is what it is a one person tent so dont expect loads of room , ideally suited to drier camps were you can cook outside . But saying that I have used it in extreme cold summit camps and had great nights . Its lightweight easy to put up and packs really small . Checkout my winter camp in the soloist . atb Dave
Only one thing worse than sat inside a tent waiting for the rain to stop, and that's sharing the tent with midges, I used three lighters trying burn them inside my tent
I'm liking your varied pitches Dave but as you say this one in the woods is just asking to be feasted upon. I could actually see a cloud around you. Far out that's all I can say. Mark
I know i was asking for trouble , I was expecting some breeze first thing but nothing aaaargh . They just ganged up on me soon as got out the tent lol . We live and learn , onwards and upwards to a summit camp :-)) TFW atb Dave.
