It is really unfortunate that she had to post his statement and essentially let him have that final word. It doesn’t feel right at all but I understand why that was the outcome and it probably is the best outcome for her right now, it just is such a shame she has to be silenced once again in that process. Obviously she did drop her lawsuit at some point and this is the defamation suit against her so them settling effectively means he isn’t going after her anymore. Honestly after how back and forth everything has been with the news on the case, I wasn’t very confident in the fact if her winning (not because of anything to do with me believing her as a survivor, but because of the legal system and the way it’s been going) and if he won and she did in fact have to pay up to the amount he’s suing for, I’m sure that would be absolutely devastating for her. Not to mention the fact that 1000% im sure the media or at least public treatment of her would be very negative if its details were made public after seeing what transpired with the Amber Heard case. The trial would be so re-traumatizing and the public treatment would be even worse to deal with. Her latest album is *apparently* her last album under his label so of course now that she’s stayed quiet and fulfilled her obligations and he’s made as much money as he could off her *now* he’s ready to let the suit go. 🙄 there is a lot that feels so icky but more than anything I am glad that beginning now she can at least try and move forward. Hopefully she is free from his label now and can sign a new deal somewhere else or go independent and have a whole new life in front of her and I hope that she can at least find her own way of truth telling now that she isn’t in litigation (though I’m sure the ‘gag order’ still exists to some capacity).
You have your facts wrong She won the New York case which makes it very difficult for like to win because he didn’t want to be shamed publicly the settlement is probably him paying Kesha her legal fees or both just walk their separate ways
Not necessarily. Her appeals were approved at New Yorks highest courts & the judges sided with kesha. Agreeing that doctor Luke is a public figure. Which makes it almost impossible for dr. Luke to prove he was defamed. HE is the one that initiated the settlement. Because he knew he wouldn’t have won his lawsuit in July 2023
Just to add. This is Dr. Luke’s defamation case AGAINST Kesha. He is the only one that could bring forth the settlement. Kesha didn’t have that option. After the Judges at the New York’s higher court sided with Kesha, deeming dr. Luke IS A PUBLIC FIGURE. Which makes it close to impossible for him to prove kesha defamed him. He knew he had no chance at winning his lawsuit against her. He brought fourth this settlement. Kesha has made it very clear through the 9years she just wants to moving on from this chapter in her life, so have course she settled. Unfortunately these joint statements are apart of the settlement.
