LADIES AND GENTLEMEN ATTENTION::::: this flan is literally my life. It it crack!!!! I say it is my life because now mom is requesting i make in again. Mother liked it. Her boyfriend liked it. My sister liked it. My sister’s home attendant liked it and and her husband liked it. Now in my opinion it was annoying to make it wasn’t hard it was just annoying maybe I don’t really like to bake but please do not let that you deter from making it. It is delicious. MAYRA GURLLL. THANK YOU so much. This is the best cake slash flan ever. Too delish. I can’t believe that was almond flour. I have made desserts in the past with almond flour and they tasted horrible to me but this was delicious I swear. I used allulose like you did. I bought some Monk fruit to use for the next batch of Choco flan but the truth is I think I’m gonna have to buy some more allulose I don’t wanna mess this recipe up at all. Thanks again!!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

El flan is my favorite part of a chocoflan cake. But, I will say, I’ve always been a vanilla flavor person, yet the first time I had a chocoflan cake was about 15 years ago, and the chocolate cake part had the perfect dense:moist ratio, with a flavor that was indulgent (but not overpowering nor too rich), and it was so dang good! I’m definitely gonna try this recipe of yours! 😃

Making this for the first time. My flan mixture blended into the chocolate mixture. I tried to be as careful as you but it still mixed. I’m hopeful the flan will magically be as nice as yours. Will share an update. Taking it to a dinner party with good friends that won’t disown me if it doesn’t turn out great. But I trust it will! Thank you!

Great explanations. I made Chocoflan 2 days ago from a different recipe. My recipe did not add water to the caramel and it took forever to heat up, but didn’t boil or turn very dark. I used monk fruit. My recipe didn’t call for lubricating the pan and to put the finished product in the refrigerator over night. The caramel hardened over night and looked sloppy when I turned it upside down. The addition of mayonnaise was a secret ingredient of my Grandmother which always ensured a moist chocolate cake. Miss her. I was surprised by adding the flan last. I’ll try that next time. Thanks for the baking tips. P.S. What’s the purpose of the water bath? I did this, but didn’t know why.
Mayra, went thru your recipes to make a few desserts for the 4th. I decided on the Brookies and Choco Flan. I was so nervous to make this.. but to my surprise it turned out great!!! I made this for my family and it was perfect! I used swerve sweetener for my t1d kiddo and this is low carb and did not make her blood sugar go high! This was great! Highly recommend 👌😊

We call it “flancocho”, instead of “chocoflan” because it can be made with many other combinations. From the words “flan”, the custard, and “cocho” from the word “bizcocho”, which means cake. That allows to keep the same name for every variety of flavors, not only chocolate. We make flancocho with chocolate cake, vanilla, strawberry, almond, etc.. you name it, and we make it. And I appreciate this twist for the keto program… Thanks 😊
I love making chocoflan but I usually eat more flan since my kids don’t like it and they get the chocolate. But I definitely need to try the keto chocoflan!

This looks awesome. I'm baking it right now. I used 100% natural erythritol for first time,but that is what I had. It didn't work at all for the caramel. I had just a little bit of brown swerve for the caramel. I'm so excited, can't wait to take from the oven. Thank you for the recipe 🙌
Question…I used Erithytol with monk fruit. When I heated it up, it didn’t turn brown and it was smoking a lot. Is it that I’m using the monk fruit? Yours looks beautiful. Thank you 🙏🏽 Awesome recipe and very well explained. I love that you add the ingredients also while explaining the process.
This was delicious, I have family with all sorts of allergies, I subbed duck eggs, allulose, and used pecan flour instead of almond flour, Unfortunately, I'm a dummy, I used a Springform pan and lined the bottom with parchment, I thought the parchment would stay there but it migrated UP with the chocolate layer so I had : Flan-Paper-Chocolate cake 🤣💔 🙈 so next time I'll leave off the parchment paper lol but when I removed the parchment by sliding it out the middle, the cake was so moist and yummy . This is a keeper. Tyvm!
I finally got to make this recipe with a couple mistakes and lessons learned for the next time! It still came out delicious 😋 my mistake is,, I did not use a water bath,completely got distracted. I learned that monkfruit does not caramelize and it also crystallizes as it cools, even though I used a mixture with erythritol. I did not have instant coffee on hand, but I think its still good,will use instant coffee next time. Also the chocolate i used, didn't produce a nice chocolatety color. I have black cocoa and special dark cocoa I will also use. Its such a great recpe! I'm determined to make this as beauas yours came out! 😃
