Excellent skills channel Mark. I am sure you get plenty of requests/ideas but here is my wish list: - Clubbell Gun Getups (sounds interesting and might be better for me on the forearm) - Cool down routine/stretches - GTU pressure on forearm - how to get tKettlebell to rest nearer Ulnar instead of radius to stop bruising - What are your thoughts on creatine (never tried it myself) - What are your thoughts on cold showers, contrast showers for muscles (and Wim Hof breathing that sometimes goes with them) - Are the Adex adjustable clubs any good? - Any thing where dumbbells are good?

I love how you mention the superiority of KB in the context of convenience. They really are. The barbell is king for strength and I stand by that. The barbell clean & jerk is better for strength and power. But when I'm travelling or on a deployment you better beleive that the utility and convenience of the KB is MASSIVELY appreciated. Much easier to learn too. Literally took me a single session to learn to do KB Snatches. Took me approx 3 months to "learn" to power snatch with a barbell.

Barbell clean and snatches if done properly create vertical force and will improve power for jumping vertically. Kettlebell cleans and snatches produce a multi place horizontal and vertical force from hard hip flexion and extension and therefore will improve this transitional power. Moving simple to complex. Advanced athletes will of course move toward competition style. Start simple like a barbell press, and move to push press. Then to the load for the jerk.

Hi Mark, I have heard you suggest before that doing double KB exercises will increase muscle mass. I have a range of single KBs but no paired weights. I'm a former CrossFitter and I want to primarily train unilaterally with clubs and KBs to find what results I get. My question is, would I get more strength/mass advantage from doing double KB training than I would from unilateral KB training? Thank you, love the channel.
@MarkWildman
@MarkWildman 4 года назад
yes. you would get more size from doubles. its basically spiral barbell. so twice as much load on the legs. double 32's is basically nuts for crossfit numbers. it feels like barbell cleaning over 225. i tend to do mass development with most of my clients with heavy club but you could almost run your barbell crossfit progressions with double kb.

it will give you more stabilization over time just start with light numbers and see if the shear is affecting you negatively. if it feels fine then start adding volume (sets) and build it up

Some people don't like the internal rotation, so they keep their arms neutral. I have found it feels better on my back and elbows of I do it like Mark does, however. Ivan Denisov and Kimberly Fox both do long cycle with internal rotation as well, so I think it comes down to whatever feels best for your body.

I was lucky to snap up 12, 16, 20 and a 24kg recently from Rogue Fitness. I highly recommend turning on email notifications for what you're interested in. They seem to restock every few weeks (I'd imagine they have a standing contract with a KB foundry or they own their own foundry) with the email notifications I was notified before the stock was even listed as available on the site. I just kept refreshing the page and I was lucky enough to pick up what I wanted. It was about 7 mins after I got the email that the stock was available on the site. I'd also recommend turning on notifications for mutliple weights that you're interested in to ensure you get something. Also the notification for the 20kg arrived about 5 mins before the the stock notifications for the other weights. Happy hunting.

Lance, MAKE them. The CrossFit version is simple, though I have a hack for the handle (see below) The tricky thing is getting the target weight as you are putting the wet concrete ( and scrap metal if you are going above 26-30 pounds in a B-ball mold). Try doing the fill on top of bathroom scales, but wipe away spilled concrete before it dries. The PVC handle hack. 1" grey plumbing pipe, cut to 26". Duct tape one end, fill and tamp the pipe full of sand. Tape the other end, wrap the entire length in aluminum foil, two layers. Place in 300-F oven for no more than 10 minutes. In the meantime, fill up your kitchen sink with cold water in which you have a STEEL big coffee can or industrial food can. Have good oven mitts on you don't mind getting wet, take out the soft and malleable PVC pipe, and dunk it into the water quickly wrapping it around the can until it hardens, but not so tight against the can than you can't slip it off. You have a now perfectly shaped KB handle, and if it's not to your liking, put it back in the oven and try again until it's right.

Hey MW, back in the day Pavel used to discourage “clanging” the bells together citing that cast iron is hard but brittle and could damage them. I’m not planning on “clanging” them but, judging from your video, id say incidental contact is ok?
@eamonob84
@eamonob84 3 года назад
I've always heard incidental contact is ok and usually can't be avoided swinging double bells. The main problem with banging them, which I think Mark has talked about before and I believe Joe Daniels has as well, is the bells bouncing into your knees if they bang off each other.
