If she is having SRS then she was born a WOMAN - It was just her body that wasn't. The surgery plus the hormones are the CURE for Gender Dysphoria. A girl can be called Kevin if she wants !! All names have meanings very few mean male or female. It is just some societies decided some names should be masculine and some should be female.Also If she is attracted to men she is not gay !! I hope she goes to PAI !! They are a lovely team of first rate surgeons.!! They could teach the world . Kevin should however stop saying that she was born a man .That helps no one to understand this phenomenon of birth where someone can be born in a mismatched body . Scientific fact must prevail over common myth , misperceptions and uneducated assumptions . We must not reinforce wrong ideas by misrepresenting ourselves.
Exactly! I was born a Boy too! And i completely disagrees Kevin's Theories! It's wrong! We are women and not Transgenders. Transgender itself is a wrong word. The right word is Transfemale. Transfemale means those females who were not born as females, but later had surgery to become a female. I identified as a woman even before i went through the treatment. Common guys. Women are women. Doesn't matter who was born first!!!

I can't help myself but cried while watching this interview. We really can never fathom life. We maybe all asked "If God just created man & woman" why there is gay & lesbian. But i guess that is not important to answer anymore because they are part of this world. They are human who happened to have that "special calling" to this world. i saw her (kevin) last week in thailand at central world with betty 1st runner up Miss Tiffany universe 2012 ..OMG +++ she so bright pretty .....so pretty i realy like her..this crown is proper for her.

During this interview Kevin Balot have not yet undergone the surgery, so why was Karen describing her as a transgender. Did Keven eventually has a surgery and became a transgender? At that time of the interview Kevin was a transexual and a transvestite also. The former refers to the feeling of being a woman, and the latter refers to his preference of wearing woman's dress. Consult your dictionary to avoid using a wrong word in describing a person in a unique existential being
And this beautiful trans/ts or however you call her is no way a poser, she is just being her self, the person that she wants to be. She is NOT disrespecting women by being the person she wants to be. How could you say "he" or "him" to a beautiful being like her?

Lots of comments irked with the way kevin identifies himself and the labels he uses. Well just to enlighten some, in the Filipino culture, the variety of labels or subclasses to homosexuality simply does not exist or, if I may say, divisions are not that clear or even established. The term mostly used is "bakla" or "bading" both translates into GAY in english but actually means a boy who acts feminine or a boy who desires to be a girl. So that's the context of the word GAY in the Philippines...far from the western idea of a man falling for a man exclusively. And what's wrong if he claims to be a natural born man wanting to be more of a woman...should feelings and identity now be confined with what the LGBT identifies and provides? I though this is about expressing who you are in your own way...if that's who he/she is then let it be. Let respect be the common denominator and add more colors to that rainbow! Peace ^_^
