Torrent is probably my favorite, even though Charged Particle is the most impressive. Torrent is just satisfying to look at. And Automobius is nothing short of gorgeous.
Brilliant work and ideas for sculpture Kevin. Just watching your channel makes me think that perhaps I should fire up my welding gear and have a go at some small pieces in my home workshop shop! If ever I come to the U.S., I'm in the U.K., I'll certainly try and check out some of your work in real life. Respect to you and your family, David.

When I first started thinking of trying metal arts, I came across your making of ‘Wherever You Go There You Are’. The construction of that piece blew my mind then & it still does. And I absolutely love the curves & patina on it…Probably why it’s my favorite piece of yours!
I've been welding for a long time and I've always been creative and artistic and the welding industry in my area has been fairly stagnant for a while so I'm officially out of work my wife suggested I just try to go into business myself and work out of my own shop and do metal art it's a big risk and I'm a little nervous about it hopefully I can flourish at this and make a living for my family and do what I love at the same time any tips would be really helpful guys I have all the equipment welders grinders torch and plasma cutter and even a place to provide all my metal at a good price
@@dirttrackdevil1149 I’d say just go for it. That’s pretty much what I did. Figured I can always get a ‘real’ job if it doesn’t work out. But be prepared to make very little money at first & have a part time job or something that can bring in some money while you get started. Kevin has a few videos on the business side of art, check those out there’s lots of good advice. Good luck!👍
Metal artwork always takes a backseat to paintings. You'd figure art in three dimensions would invoke a greater, emotional response than in 2 dimensions but its quite the opposite. I get it though. A lot of it comes off as gaudy and ostentatious. Its artwork in the nude. But these are real tasteful. Their striking, sensitive, subdued yet authentic. You’re a true credit to the medium!
I literally got a headache just thinking about having to weld that charged particle.. haha.. As a weldor, I can only imagine how precise and tedious that had to be.
The really thin walls of the 3D prints makes for a stunning visual effect. Unfortunately, they're very vulnerable to fat elbows knocking them over. :-( Luckily it still looks good propped up next to the edge of the TV. Mary didn't even notice that I broke it when she was over the other day! :-) I do admire your willingness to try new things, from 3D printing to metal spinning, to pin striping the leaves! Here's to another 20 years of new challenges!
I've been reading a bit on the history of the artwork that had been installed along the walls of the 51 and just into the neighborhoods back in the day. I don't know if you were making art at that point or not, but I'm curious about your perspective on that bit of Phoenix history.
I was still running my own import car garage at that time. The "art" I found to be a slap in the face to the people that had their tax money used to pay for it. Happy to see most of it gone now.
@@KevincaronSculpture I had heard that many local artists had opinions that ranged from disappointed to outright angry. I was an adolescent when it was put up, when the freeway ended before the Dreamy Draw. To my young eye it simply didn't make any sense. Granted, most of us only saw the pieces actually installed on top of the walls rather than the stuff in the neighborhoods, but the subject matter didn't fit Phoenix. I didn't understand why plates, cups and other tableware was sitting on the freeway walls. What I didn't know at the time was how much that artwork cost, and that it didn't even go to local artists. As an adult this makes me even more annoyed. It's not like there was *no* art scene here (Cosanti immediately springs to mind and I have no doubt there were plenty of other studios) and a half-million bucks could've gone a long way among local artists, especially in the early nineties.
I really like your metal art, but the 3d printer doesn't work for me. I like my printer, but the real metal welded object is what I'm going for. Best wishes.
