I met Kevin one night at The Whiskey when our band was playing a QR cover. He was very gracious and complimented me on my playing. I hung out with him after the show. He was very funny and a very cool dude....
I met him 2 times after a show with the classic Metal Health lineup fortunately. All 4 guys were incredible but Kevin had a great sense of humor no one could match! I love and miss him.
Kevin was a friend of mine in the mid seventies. He always spoke his mind and you always knew where he was at. That is more than I can say for all those wimpy, spineless people on this site who's fashionably degrading comments are grossly misleading. We need more people in this world like Kevin to stand up for what what they believe in. He was the real thing and I miss him.
" We need more people in this world like Kevin to stand up for what what they believe in.......he was the real thing" He was a drug addict & died of a cocaine overdose. We need more people in the world like him? He was the real thing?? Your delusion is scary. The world needs Jesus Christ. Make no mistake about that!
Joe Blow his personal bad habits don't define him...just as yours don't define you. he had platinum records and brought great music to the world which brought a lot of people happiness, and did what he loved with his life. what do you do? watch videos of someone you apparently don't like or respect and trash them on the internet? Christianity is a religion based on love, understanding, and forgiveness...so leave the judging up to god and maybe find a video of something you enjoy so that you can input something positive rather than bad mouthing someone who suffered addiction (and all the while STILL being more successful than people like you or me could ever dream of being). not even trying to be rude, just saying. RIP Kevin!
Thank you for your deep & touching insight Aaron. I will try to correct the error of my ways and live up to the high standards you have set for me going forward. If I need any more life advice from a teenager I will be sure to get back to you.
I got the honor of meeting Kevin and Frankie in the summer of 2007 at a rock festival up here in Canada. Of all the "rock stars" I've ever met (I've met quite a few) Kevin was by far the nicest guy. Both he and Frankie stood outside of the motel they were staying at, and chatted with all the fans (including myself and a buddy of mine) for almost 2 hours that day. He signed tons of autographs and told us stories about being on the road and who they've met over the years and jammed with and they're families and so on..it's a great memory. Little did we all know, that just 3 months later, he'd be gone...He was a hell of a great guy. RIP
The early 80's were fun times. This band is iconic and Kevin's legacy will remain for quite some time. It's up to us to raise a new generation of rockers going forward.
I wasnt a big kevin Dubrow fan . But I'm not about to start bad-mouthing him now that he's passed. He was definitely talented and flamboyant frontman. Seen them in the early 80s great musicians
Dude ! that's awesome ! they meant alot to me ! as a teenager in the 8o's l worked and saved money for a long time ! just to buy their album metal health ! and l still have it ! this was back in Mexico ! Cheers !😊😊😊
I was in a band that opened up for quiet riot in a downtown bar and Lincoln nebraska. Kevin dubrow was absolutely as cool as any Rockstar could ever be. Him and I had a few beers together by the bus, and took a piss together. Completely down to earth rock and roll legend material. I'm still playing clubs, but I'll treasure those certain moments. Cheers to Kevin
Had the pleasure to see one of their last shows at the very first Rocklahoma in 2007…Man they sounded so great. The world lost Kevin way too soon…but he sure lived one hell of a life and during some of the best years for music.
Live and die by the sword. QR was and will forever be in that arsenal of rock super bands that everybody that grew up in that era has in their memories. I knew it the first time I seen them play. Kevin's crazy energy was magnetic and drew so many towards the band. The early years were my best of times. RIP to a true rock legend.
Loved these guys, they deserved to be greater than they were honestly. Kevin Dubrow had such powerful vocals, best live show I ever went to in my life! I walked away amazed, this guy had more talent than most will ever know and nice and down to earth. Anything you feel when listening to an album was magnified x10 live. What you heard was what you got, stellar rock. R.I.P...
Well.... That's debatable. Their material took a STEEP decline after the Metal Health record and without a strong Guitarist like Carlos, there really isn't/wasn't a good reason to stick around. Kevin may have been a decent showman on stage, but the bottom line for ANY Band are the Songs. If you want to see a "Show" without song quality, we have KISS for that lol
Kevin was always so good to talk with after shows. I had the privilege of talking with him 4 different times and he was truly appreciative of his fans and always good for a laugh. He had an awesome stage presence and gave 110% no matter if it was for 200 people or 10,000. He often would talk to fans in the early days of social media as well and thanked me for getting "Rock the House" played on local radio. Genuine!
80's Changed America and Quiet Riot was one of many that helped transform the Music Scene. Kevin is part of the oil in the Metal Music that kept all of us alive banging are heads.
Saw one of the last chimneys that did in Canada. I'm a singer as well and was really impreseed. Never knew he was that good a singer. In a new band as of last week and we are doing metal health and come on feel the noise.
Without them, metal would not be as big as it is today. They were the first with a #1 album and the first to have a top 10 hit. They werr pioneers. Its a shame that their popularity declined after Metal Health and was completely gone after Comdition Critical. RIP Kevin
Too bad his life ended too young. No reason to end up on the wrong side of drugs. Life can be very intoxicating without crap putting you in a hole too deep to get out of. Easier said than done. RIP Kevin, you had more to give than you know.
Cómo extraño a los Quiet Riot , tuve el honor de verlos en directo en el 2004 en el Atarfe Vega Rock de Granada , echo mucho de menos al gran Kevin Dubron y a Frankie Banalli , 😢😢😢
Thank you for saying that ! as a teenager they got me into metal ! and they hold a special place in my heart ! now l'm 54 ! and l'm still a metal head ! and l will be until l fucken die !
Miss ya every day, Kev. Hope you and Bon and Jimmy are rockin' up there, and I hope to make it to a hell of a lot of shows when I get there. Love ya, brother, RIP, long live The Riot
I saw him years earlier and heard him singing Cum On Feel The Noize and he was great. As for the image thing, I don't think it matters how you achieve an image, as long as you achieve it. Kevin came from the '70's when hair was the thing, and perhaps he felt he needed to wear a wig, just as Blackmore and Simmons do. A sign of the times.
i wish my hair would grow back like kevins did lol. i still in disbelief he is gone now. took many years for them to get sighned on a major label nut yet they opened the doors for lots of bands. underrated that's for sure.
❤As long as I have my I Phone and pandora Kevin Dubrow and Quiet Riots legacy always lives forever. RIP my friend until next time! That one day we will see you again up in the concert 🎶 in the sky. ❤ Front Row I’ll bring the candy.
I've never heard a negative comment about Kevin from anyone who knew him or met him personally,by all accounts he was a very cool person and a real rock legend!
The wig was ridiculous. I liked him best in the beginning when he was balding... natural. Like he didn't give a shit about his hair. He just rocked out
Pale Rider omg come on feel the noise was there breakout hit. Slade the rock group was the original band that recorded it. Kevin voice is like the exact voice of the lead singer in Slade. Noddy. You must be young. Look it up.
I remember when he moved to Vegas and joined the morning show on KOMP. It was called Craig and Kevin in the morning. He said he never did drugs. Too bad.
Just outta curiosity, how were they, really? And I'm not asking to be contrary, or a hater. Who was the Guitarist at the time? I didn't didn't really follow them after the Metal Health record since their material was not that great after their Debut.
@KEN5423 Wow. Dude, rough. I mean sure, he's with Randy as far as "dead" goes but we can't be to ignorant on what happens after..Sure, I'm confident they are not hanging out....or golfing, or playing poker, or doing whatever else we tell young kids when grampa dies.....but I believe in Heaven, and Jesus. ( I've done to much studying outside the NT to think it's not real, ...) and you don't some do some don't. Just respect what we believe...unless you're really angry at something and that's how you came to your conclusion.. But on to QR.. I miss the Metal Health line up. They had more albums than most of there 80's counterparts. Alive and Well and Guilty Pleasures are both good albums. And even though QR 3 takes alot of shit. It's one of my favorites.
I seen QR open 4 lover boy in the early 80’s they were the first main stream metal band after the metal health tour they were huge posters shirts hats QR I allways wanted one of those metal hockey mask. Metal rules
When asked of influences he didn't mention Slade. Rather he would admit it or not, Kevin's voice was the american copy of Slade's Noddy Holder Plus they covered two of Slade's tunes. In a way, Quiet Riot was the American version of Slade.
Quiet Riot fans who have never heard Slade might have their worlds shaken by the original Cum On Feel The Noize: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qu_ozjAu_vM.html There is also Mama Were All Crazee Now: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eEv6jy_7PQQ.html
As I read the comments, there seems to be varying opinions about Kevin's character and friendliness..some found him a hell of a great guy and a few claim he was a rude,no good SOB. Interesting!
@@theodosios2615 Yes this is very true. From most accounts Kevin was a very down to earth guy with a selfish side. He probably would have been more chill if he had a good woman by his side.
