@@73Trident Yeah, McHale has a way of relaxing people. His interview with Bird was the same way. A conversation between friends. And Bird seems reeeeaallly guarded in his public persona but Mac loosened him up, too. Big prop's to Garnett. His head is on straight (connected to his heart).
The respect that KG has for Mac as someone who helped him through his professional life is evident. KG ,Matt and Stacks are peers and the settings of both interviews are different.
You gotta understand , a african american lives in two worlds , the african american circle , and the mainstream world . You know i left out the slang terms when i said that. Just like the hispanics we live some in the spanish speaking world some in the english speaking world.
Two of the best power forwards in NBA history and us C's fans are very lucky to have seen these two win championships in Boston. I'd love to see KG spend time with Robert Williams on his game.
Damn that game 7 2010 finals ..was sooooo close just a bucket or a stop ..celts deserved a second ring then for the consistency n fight they showed for few seasons. Kudos to that group .. was nice to b in the Garden for his jersey ceremony.
thks for posting this. Now I got it his decision to retire as a player before his contract expired. But no matter what, KG s always gonna be a role model and my favorite basketball player.
Great interview between two legends of the game. As a Laker fan during the great Magic and Bird era, I eagerly watched the Celtics on Sundays when they played the laker snd the Sixers. Hoste;y, I didn't like the Celtics but respected them. After I saw McHale's hilarious HOF speech, I respected him and liked him even more. The respect these two have for each other is apparent during this interview and it's I refreshing to see. I hope the league returns to basketball and removes all of the politics that have engulfed the NBA.
My top ten favorite . He was a great player no doubt about that... great skills , competes every night. But it's KG's old school values that set him apart...
This interview and their relationship are exactly what "Paying it Forward" is about. McHale was a monster and obviously saw something special in Garnett. This is the beauty of sports.
From my experience watching interviews and such of him, he'll put on a persona most of the time but that's peer pressure, but when he's one on one and feels comfortable he's very insightful and actually quite wise. Comes across as a guy who's had a rough life too.
26:39 "AU has killed our league" is what I heard. What did KG mean? This is one intense person. I saw KG at one Celtics game at the Garden. Only time I can genuinely say I was in awe of someone. They Celtics come out for the shoot around, there's some military band in the center of the court, and there's Tommy Heinsohn doing a broadcast. There's Paul Pierce -- yeah seen him a bunch of times on TV. There's Rajon Rondo .. yeah seen him a lot too. But then Kevin Garnett comes on the court and I am like ... "OMG... that's Kevin Garnett... it's really him... in person!" It was like that.
I see my boys playing with retro teams on NBA 2K20 screaming "get it to KG" and I'm glad they at least get to experience his greatness on there... because i got to experience it live.
I am the biggest KG fan ever but not sure what he's talking about when he says they had a 20+ point lead in game 7 lol. They did have a 13 point lead at one point which they still shouldn't have blown, but it never got past 13. Had they had blown a 20 point lead in game 7 of a finals, then that game would've been talked about wayyy differently as one of the all time choke jobs in sports history
You see the guy giving the interview? He was unstoppable at times and deserves to be on the list, just listen to his peers who had to guard him, McHale was a nightmare to defend and was tough defensively too
I remember the day I heard on EEI tgat the Celtics were after KG I thought man that’d be awesome but there’s no way that’ll ever happen. Then it did and I knew the Celtics would be champions again.
I hope to see KG back in the Wolves with different role. The organization and the city needs his energy, leadership and personality so badly. Minnesota loves KG.
Offensively , McHale. Defensively, KG, but both were above average McHale defense KG offense. It's a toss up but I would choose McHale personally because he was freaky unstoppable at times and could score at will
TOTALLY WRONG YOU SAID * I lived in a house with my mama ...It's a huge villa, not less than 300mq= 5 flats... * In the new house I see people with THINGS * U are super competitive ThEy teach u to be SUPER COMPETITIVE, but people who suffer of competition are never right with themselves, so they want always someTHING more= they have everything they dont need to fullfill their life * So in ur case, basketball player= play every 2 days is anti humanity... NOT SUPER HUMAN/COMPETITIVE, so to have results they stimulate u with competition (they dont have time or want TO TEACH U everything in the business) * SO IN THE END U SAY I HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED (after 3 min???)
