I find it so refreshing. HE said exaclty how we all felt. In some ways the betrayal of Ray Allen was the worst thing that ever happened to us celtics fans, as disappointing as it was to lose finals due to injuries. It has to be said, what Ray Allen did was a sellout move, not only to everything about that Celtics squad but pre-primadonna NBA.

Agreed. But since they were the public enemy #1 , their biggest rival at the time & the team that just took them out of the playoffs the year before…he could have just left and went to a different instead . That Celtics vs Heat rivalry was real back in the day. KG ain’t lying. Those were great games to watch. You could feel the intensity through the fucking tv. 1. Ray stayed in trade talks. He wanted to settle in Boston, but seeing how he was in all the trade rumors, he wasn't trying to relocate or be separated from his family. 2. They started reducing his role, especially once he came back from injury. They even went as far as trying to have him come off the bench after reassuring him he'd be starter when he got back. 3. They let the Rondo feud fester without resolving it. With all that considered, are you really surprised? He took less money to control his own destiny. I don't knock Ray at all. He owed them nothing after how they started to treat him. Plus he hit arguably the biggest shot this league has ever seen outside of Magic's baby skyhook. Put some respect on that man's name.

@@marcc.5535 I agree with you on the first part about KG's leadership. Your second paragraph you are wrong and you do not know how the Celtics got KG. The Celtics were after KG in 05-06 (two years before joining Boston). KG didn't want to go to Boston. Pierce had a foot injury the year before KG joined. As Pierce was out due to injury, Danny Ainge told Pierce that he was going to be traded or he was going to get a second star to help out. KG was on the trade market since KG opted out, Minn didn't want to lose KG in free agency and they were basically replacing KG w/ Al Jefferson. KG vetoed a trade to Boston again because he did not want to go to Boston. KG was looking at LA or Phoenix. But KG stopped interest in the Lakers because Kobe was demanding a trade. KG looked at the Mavs and Warriors, but they didn't have enough to make the trade work. Pierce DID NOT recruit KG because he felt KG was going to stiff him the same way Baron Davis and Allen Iverson did. Ray Allen had a bad injury so Seattle was looking to trade him. Boston got Ray Allen, which attracted KG. And that's how the Big 3 was formed. KG wasn't looking to form a superteam. It just happened because they were aging stars coming off injury and all three players were on the verge of being kicked off their teams for younger talent.
@marcc.5535
@marcc.5535 5 месяцев назад
@@MikeBNumba6 Garnett did not want to sign an extension with Minnesota and threaten to opt out because he "could not win" He missed the playoffs 3 straight seasons and he was frustrated with losing. Therefore, he was looking to form a "superteam" As you indicated, he wanted to join Kobe. Now, what alpha male superstar want to run to another star team to help them win? Lebron and Kevin Durant catches heat from doing that all the time when the fact of the matter is, KG did the same. Kevin Garnett even reached out to the Phoenix Suns looking for a trade when they had Nash and Amarie Staoudamire. Garnett "said that himself" in an interview. You can look it up, its out there. Bottom line is KG didn't win in the west due to studs like Tim, Kobe, and the Suns. So, he wanted to join another star to give him a better chance to win. But, KG has a problem when someone else does the same. He talked about Lebron when he went to Miami. You can look that up to, its out there. Ray Allen did what was best for him when he left Boston for Miami just like KG did what he thought was best for him left Minnesota for Boston.

1. Ray allen gave up the most out of the big 3, he averaged 20 points per game for 10 straight seasons until boston, where he became klay thompson and completely play without the ball 2. Ray allen was constantly coming up in trade rumors right after the 08 championship when KG and Paul was not (you would know if you were around at that time) 3. Ray allen had beef with rondo and he needed rondo to pass him the ball because they want him to play without the ball, then they put ray allen on the bench 4. Ray allen is the oldest player among the three (but he was in the best shape) 5. Enemy or not doesnt matter anymore, Boston had its very last chance against the HEAT and they just couldnt do it in game 7, then its not the enemy anymore 6. at that stage of his career there is no point to go to a non contender if he doesnt feel like retiring in boston, the HEAT gave him less money but showed him how they would use him and appreciate his ability to help the team win, his is what a basketball player wants to hear, and he did helped the heat win with a miracle shot and made him an important piece in the title run

The Celtics put Ray on the trading block multiple times and benched him. Why was he expected to stay loyal to an organization that showed no loyalty to him?

Ray was not getting good minutes in Boston , and there was talk about him being relegated to the bench if I remember correctly 🤔 he and rondo did not see eye to eye … why didn’t them guys do anything about that ?

His ankle issues had come back and he was in and out of the lineup, if memory serves. That's when avery bradley emerged as a legit player, especially defensively. Started taking those minutes. That was the beginning of the end

So what he went. Y’all didn’t value Ray enough to pay him & y’all wanted to bench him. On top of that, y’all didn’t back him up to get paid to stay or start. Other options he had wasn’t contenders. So he too the best option.
@3Rick527
@3Rick527 6 месяцев назад
That’s false. The Celtics offered him more years and more money. When he got injured the year before Avery Bradley took his starting role at shooting guard and when he came back he felt some type of way about that and then in the off-season when they knew he wasn’t going to return they went and signed Jason Terry

@kanajingly8957
@kanajingly8957 6 месяцев назад
You're an idiot we offered Ray more to stay and play with us. Ray took less money and came off the bench anyway. And the reason Ray Allen came off the bench for the Celtics that year was because Avery Bradley was way more effective in the starting lineup and we needed much more production from our bench unit which couldn't score for shit! Bradley earned his starting position, as he shot over 50% and scored over 15 a game and 40% from 3 while playing elite level defense during Ray Allen's time sidelined with an ankle injury. Bradley was horrible when he came off the bench. We didn't bench Ray Allen for any other reason other than the fact that we wanted to win! You casual fans just follow some stupid narrative, be we Celtics fans actually followed the season and wanted our team to win bad, even if it meant Ray Allen would be our sixth man, even though he got back in the starting lineup anyway when bradley had a season ending injury in the 76ers series.

I miss when the league was like this. People picked a city, a team, and they stayed. The hate for rivals was real. Lebron really changed all that woth his "decision". He's done a lot of good for basketball but that's one contribution that was terrible

@comediandavebutler
@comediandavebutler 5 месяцев назад
How can you say Lebrom changed that when that’s literally part of the Rivalry days you miss? That move created the rivalry and Boston literally did it first. KG left Minnesota to go there and that was Ray Allen’s 3rd team. Most players don’t even have the power to stay where they want. Ask Derozen, Holiday and IT about that. Then he went up against the warriors 4 years in a row and another time with LA. He’s literally responsible for all the high profile rivalries since the decision
