i dont think it would be hard to forget to be playing against Jordan of all people lol. im sure most younger players at that time like KG dreamed of playing with him since most were inspired by him
I think every player remembers when they were put on an island with Mike 1 v 1😳………you gotta be thinking “please help come, please”, or “imma foul the shit outta this muthafucka just so I’m not on a poster”! 👊🏽😂😂
@@fritz2live 😂😂 certainly passed the prime and btw, there wasn't the technologies today to maintain their bodies, there wasn't load management, on average their bodies shut down earlier. You can't use today's standard to judge
@@cynga6067 When you hit your prime you have a good 5, yr window but you definitely can sustain it over the time. Yes the technology and medicines we didn't but 33 isn't old. Tell an old man that's been work 50+ plus years he'll cuss your ass out
I haven't heard shumpert. I'll look out for that. imo. all NBA stories should be told by KG. like if Isaiah Thomas want to say something about Mike, he should just have KG tell the story.
Saw him live against the lakers here in LA. It was the game magic got knocked out kicked in the head by a teammate terry teagle. MJ stole and inbound pass at half court and dunked it before anyone knew what happened. He was a blur. All you heard was ohhhhh because it caught the entire arena off guard. It was right before halftime. Black cat quickness is true
Honestly he didn't really utilize "moves" with dribbling, he mostly just beat people with speed and athleticism. The only dribbling moves of his I can think of is his various palming fake outs. Tbc I'm not saying your comment is wrong, I think it's a perfect description of his infinite lay up package. I'm just making an observation about his dribbling. It seemed more like just pragmatically keeping the ball with him and away from other players.
@@dervish816 Dribbling moves aren't just for showing off. They're great for creating space and if you cross someone over you can get a wide open lane. Using dribbling as a weapon wasn't really that common until after MJ had been in the league for awhile. Pete Maravich and sometimes Magic are about the only old school people I can think of that used dribbling like it's used today (I'm sure I'm probably forgetting people). Tim Hardaway and Iverson seemed to be the main catalysts for spreading it league wide. I think it's gotten to the point of ridiculousness though, the cradling and carrying is off the charts.
@@88mphDrBrown dude, Mike definitely had dribbling moves. He was somewhat flashy with it in his early years, like the dribbling between the legs against Bird. But he stripped away all the unnecessary movement from his game. He could get any shot he wanted in 3 dribbles or less. But he also knew how to play off the ball, coming off screens and back door cuts. But in an iso situation Mike could beat you in a myriad of ways off the dribble. And that includes right to left and left to right crossovers, inside out crossovers with either hand, and hesitation pull ups on either side. And he really destroyed defenders in the triple threat position.
this is why MJ is unguardable.. if you put a small defender to match his quickness, he will postup or shoot over them and if you put someone of the same height or taller.. he will just use his quickness to penetrate and finish.. truly an amazing player, high basketball IQ!!!🐐23
"He is a well-proportioned, 6-foot- 6-inch, 190-pounder who can play either guard or forward. He is fast, having run the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. He is strong and a good jumper, which enables him to play against forwards a few inches taller." New York Times 1982
KG was a legendary high schooler in Chgo. I saw him play at Farrugut High. You knew he was legit. He saw Mike in action. He just told y'all how MJ was able to adjust(even) ar 33. Love-em both...
KG needs more respect. He's one of the greatest defensive players ever. Dude could literally guard from the perimeter to the post in his prime. An excellent player with nearly unmatched intensity. Garnett brought it every night & was dubbed the Big Ticket for a reason. It's good when small market teams draft all-time talent, but it's sad when they squander opportunities. Oh well, I'm glad he finally won his chip in '08, even if it was against my Lakers.
You can tell MJ is the goat since every players who had played against him had extra ordinary experience with him! Some even scared and praised him in court.
I remember/love the back door move MJ put on the Knicks, I think specifically on Patrick Ewing...he drove to the basket, got cut off at the post by Ewing, and so MJ retreated(so everybody thought) and then he quickly did a spin move on the baseline that instantly put him back to back now with Ewing and facing the basket for the easy score. I've never seen anything like that b4 nor after MJ did that sh!t😂
Fast as a cat though. You don't get it. He was in KGs mind. He knew KG was onto him and switched it up. 6'6, 4.3 speed, 48 inch vert. His first step was even faster than his 4.3 time showed. Like put it this way. If MJ was drafted im the NFL TODAY he'd probably test in the top 3-5 all time combine wise. That's how athletic he was. Christian Watson tested 2nd overall behind Calvin Johnson. Jordan ran just as fast, an inch taller, and jumped much higher. I sure Jordans broad jump was insane. So he would match it. His first step is faster too. People saying Jordan would be playing with better athletes don't get it. He would still be the best athlete Not to mention he's the hardest working, most mentally strong, high IQ, and technically perfect nba player ever on top of it. Oh and an all time great defender on top of the best offensive player ever. He's score 50 a game today in the nba
The greatest basketball player ever, to this day. I love your story of you and the other player getting hype about being up and Michael turned on on y’all😂😂😂😂
The "legend" of Michael Jordan is perpetuated with these endless BULLSHIT stories. I mean, a 6-6 guy blowing by a 7 footer on the perimeter is not only not news, but EXPECTED. I mean literally EVERY mediocre guard in the NBA today.
I had my share of watching numerous NBA and NFL games sometimes from great seats. 2 players that I watched live, and i thought TV is not the sMe. Both Michael Jordan Nd Michael Vick. These 2 are lightning fast. All pro defenders were left in the dust . It was fun watching them and garnett was absolutely 💯
I read an interview in sports illustrated where Jordan said early on in his career he noticed while watching Magic how varied his game was offensively. He was very hard to predict and just when you think you figured him out, he switches up and pulls out a gun you didn't know he had. He was a thinker. He was all about the nuisances. Mike sure did master that. By the 90s, his game and arsenal was so deep there was no stopping him.
I swear I use to come home from school everyday and put one of 5 Michael Jordan VHS tapes in I had and scientifically break down every Jordan move in my mind…then go to the park and practice every last one of them…that man was the ultimate inspiration when it comes to playing basketball…I developed a cat quick first step and high jumping release point jumper….there were guys 6’4 and up who I use to get my jumper off on couldn’t believe it lol…unfortunately I was too small to do his dunks 😂 but everything else I was mocking to the T…thanks MJ
I watched that game as a 17 year old in a bar in old Town auburn, CA. I also met John Travolta that day because he was filming the movie "phenomenon" in old Town auburn. It was pretty fitting
KG has a master mind. He calculated MJ dribbles and stole the ball. Mj was like : oke you figure me out, well I am going to trick this dude. Next game 1,2, drible and swoooosh , up and the dunk was solid😂
I keep telling LB fans nothing wrong with him but the day he called himself the 🐐 MJ would have killed his dreams and goals just because that is MJ str8 Killa ☠️☠️💀
This says a lot because Kevin Garnett was an excellent defender. He is the only man that I've ever seen who blocked Olajuwon shot out of the dream shake
