Well said! With your permission I would like to adapt it slightly and feature it on the post-doom website (just under the definitions). See here: postdoom.com/ Is this okay with you?
@@thegreatstory ya for sure.......I think you me and Kevin all around same age as we all watch the red torqued Frenchman sailor explore the corral reefs that was a family thrill every seek back then when we only had 3 channels....
Cheers Kevin, love your passion and honesty, spoken in true kiwi fashion. Michael you are a true gem, you have educated yourself so completely on these topics and communicate so well that you have become one of the few that can fully connect with the boomer generation, and all others also. Greatly appreciative of you and your work!!
Thanks, Vaughan! If you've not already seen it, my latest two-part video series, "Collapse in a Nutshell: Understanding Our Predicament" has garnered 125,000 views in 12 days (a first for me): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e6FcNgOHYoo.html / Please join us, if you're so led: postdoom.com/discussions/ I also recommend the "post-doom" conversations and resources found here: postdoom.com
I lived six months in New Zealand when I was 18 and 19 in early 1966 and loved it there. So glad to learn of Kevin through his appearances on NATURE BATS LAST. Kudos, both of you
I like this guy. It took me longer to see/realize/admit it, but it can no longer be denied. The situation is beyond dire and we aren't doing anywhere close to enough to fix it. We won't and it's almost certainly too late now even if we miraculously did collectively take it seriously.
Actually I had a chat with the Angel of Death and I told him that the the way things were going , he might be out of a job soon . He kinda got this far away look in his eye and walked away all stoop shouldered and pigeon-toed .
This entire conversation is an example of run-away anthropomorphism! "Human Exceptionalism" is what I would call it. All things considered how can you NOT see homo sapiens as a a pernicious invasive species? We ALONE created this mess. The entire remainder of the biosphere is totally innocent. From a truly genuine altruistic point of view, wouldn't it be better for all of LIFE if we humans just went extinct? Seriously. You have to answer that objective question.
You could not be more mistaken, treefrog! Kevin and I both vociferously reject anthropocentrism. We both consider ourselves ecocentrists. Seriously! Here's my version, for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DEDvM8Agmw4.html Much more here: ru-vid.com/group/PLcAlqMeyeaW9jp15vd-8nfmhf6Ka_jDug
Kevin, you are full of wisdom, but I can't agree with preparing to go out and hunt down a wild creature. That is an incredibly dystopian vision of a future human life. It is people who should be dying, not the rest of the biosphere. We all need advice now on how to exit this world with some dignity and leave a nuclear-free world for the life that is still clinging on.
"Should" or "should not" is not the issue now, it seems to me. We are, in fact, causing a mass extinction with millions of species being included, and we are, in fact, most likely leaving a super bitter and geologically catastrophic nuclear legacy. I invite you to see my latest two vids which, together, have generated 85,000 comments in just over a week. (Never had that happen before! :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e6FcNgOHYoo.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lPMPINPcrdk.html
I think if I become so hungry I want to hunt wildlife that I will take myself out with carbon monoxide fumes from a charcoal grill in a closed up bathroom. Seems like a painless way to go without the violence of a pistol.
@@everythingmatters6308 There are better ways. See here: sanctioned-suicide.org/ which was featured in a recent NYTimes article, here: www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/12/09/us/where-the-despairing-log-on.html
@@thegreatstory Thanks, but the NYT has a paywall. I checked out your first link. I saw a lot of talk about suicide and despair but didn't see any "better ways" discussed. Can you just list a few?
2022..., I predicted that it would be the year, due to the amount of destruction from climate disasters, that the world would understand, its impending doom. A doubling of disasters per year. Be kind to your active Army Servicemen.
@@thegreatstory I’m trying to spread Guy’s message by making comments at other sites-so although I wasn’t addressing you (I think-the family aphasia makes it difficult to remember accurately), thank you for responding. Wish I knew how to email you a subscription numbers list I compiled recently; ‘twas in creating same that I discovered your vids, which I certainly will be watching more of. Kudos🙏🖖
I always enjoy listening to Kevin Hester's take on NTHE. I had never heard him promote the hunting down of innocent animals though. Seems to be a disconnect with his statement a short time later regarding empathy. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all leave the world without hurting/killing others on our way out? As Guy McPherson would say "at the edge of Extinction, only Love remains..."
Nature is not cruel. Almost all creatures in the wild die through predation. Most people don't realize that predation is the kindest least painful way to die. During an encounter between predator and prey, both are flooded with adrenaline to optimize their potential for survival and the brain of the prey animal is flooded with endorphins as it goes into shock. It enters a blissful euphoric state even while having its throat torn out. According to science Pain is primarily meant to facilitate healing by discouraging movement and it only appears when it has survival value. Humans cause pain and suffering for animals by destroying the natural world and planting mono-crops for their own selfish use. The invention of farming and adoption of the unnatural plant-based diet has led to a grossly overpopulated world on the verge of extinction.
@@johnthom3342 My comment wasn't about carnivorous animals preying upon others, they really have no choice--for survival, they must do it. Humans however have a choice. We can choose a violent diet or a compassionate one. When given that choice, why not choose the kinder one? Many of the world's top athletes are vegan and vegans live on average 10 years longer than flesh eaters. And yes, even though we could feed every person on the planet if we stopped wasting resources on raising animals for food, it doesn't mean we need to bring more humans onto the planet. Personally, I made the choice at 27 to get my tubes tied so as not to procreate. Lastly, the vast majority of food crops in the US go to feed animals who are then fed to humans. If we didn't raise animals for food, there would be a whole lot more land for wildlife to inhabit.
