Kevin has to be one of the top "lacers" in Missouri and more than likely the world! He wanted to expound on what Denny taught you and share his take on a few of the steps. We hope this is helpful to you and as always feel free to ask questions below! If there are parts you would like a little more help on, be sure to ask and we will do our best to answer the questions!

Thank you so much for this video. I have spent hours trying to figure out why this stitch looked great sometimes and not other times. This video fixed my problems. I would love to see more videos on different types of leather stitches made just like this. Perfect, thank you.

Kevin I have been lacing this stitch for over 40 years, and I have found several of these tips by trial and error. But your first tip of NOT lacing over the begining end of the lace is pure genius. Thank you very much

Would love to see a video like this on the round braid or Mexican basketweave. Especially how to do it when you don't start and end it in the same place.

Kevin, you're *such* a great teacher! Everything is made simple in the way you explain it. I was so pleased to note that my preferences for needles, lace and lacing style are just the same as yours. It'd be Rather Good if you could do a video on the triple lace stitch... Just sayin', y'know? Thanks very much for these videos. They're a brilliant reference! :)

thank you thank you thank you! I was on a couple other leather work sites and in 3 hours I produced an ugly mess and a few frustrated tears. Your explanation was so clear and your demo was at imortant angles that let me see what I did wrong...thank you. This is why you are my go to information place from now on.

Don’t let go of the needle, be sure to go to the bathroom before starting to lace. Ok got it. Thanks Kevin.

You can let go as long as you start to put it through the next hole before you do.

Hi Kevin, greetings from Sydney Australia. I agree with most of your tutorial and like you I have been lacing for a long time. I began at age 7 and I am 71 now so do the maths :) You are 100% correct on kangaroo lace and that is all I ever use but have done early projects in goat. I get mine from Birdsall Leather and Crafts in Sydney and they do do online sales. You can also get it from the suppliers Mac Lace in Queensland. Where we disagree is the direction of lace. I lace to the natural direction of my hands just as I cut counter clockwise curves whereas you would cut clockwise curves. I am going to make a suggestion to you where you will never twist your lace and you can let the needle go. I do not do a finished loop like you do but I place the needle under the half X and then pull the rest of the stitch in tight. Being left handed makes it difficult to do things 'conventionally' so we have to modify what you right handers say is gospel. Nobody has ever 'knocked' my work as the quality is always high and it is unique. If you have an email address I can send stuff to then I'd love to send some pics to you. Peter Main taught me to carve when I was in my teens. You have done a great job on your tutorial mate. Also, the double pin needles are my preference as well so we do agree on a lot of this. You want to try the half X trick because it works really well. Finally, I have drawn some instructional sheets for 3 strand applique plait and these can follow contours and they look amazing, as well as a 4 pass cross stitch and a triangle knot that was shown to me by Peter Main for belts if you are interested. Take care my friend !!

Alan Baker Hi Alex thanks for the tips! I can see were being left-handed would make it just exactly the way that you describe. Thanks again for the kind words and you’re certainly welcome to email me at kevin@springfieldleather.com

Hi I watched this video 3 times and my take away is, I should NEVER try to do a double loop lace. Did SLC ever put that new lacing needle out for sale? I have terrible issues trying to get my lace into the 2 prong needle. My finger dexterity issues from my stroke makes it hard to get the prongs open while I put the lace in. I thought your new lace needle might help with that? Thank you, God bless: Stoney

Yay... lacing... thanks for the tips :) I've not yet determined if its worth doing eg double loop; stitching seems to be alot faster and certainly less bothersome and time is monies.

But lacing is so pretty. It's it's own art/decor. If you lace, you almost don't need to stamp anything else on the leather for a design
