Short Summary: What makes the difference when writing? - Coherence - always ask, "So what?" - Logic - remove sentences that don't make sense - Choose the easiest idea to write about and have a clear position - Don't use fancy vocabulary; otherwise, you're likely to make many mistakes.
I was stuck in 6.5 in my writing… but this time I followed only your videos and everything you said we should do. I got a 7 today with an overall band score of 8. Thanks so much.
This is actually one of the most realistic and valuable content about the writing topic among thousands I have seen so far. I wish I got these advice earlier than this. Much appreciation, Chris! Edit: I got an overall 7.5 from exam last week. The best part is 6.5 for writing section because I could only write an introduction for the task 1 (yes! Almost all score is coming from task 2!) This is still the best guide for a successful writing. My appreciation is for the whole team!
I recently managed to get a 8.5 overall in the IELTS academic exam and this channel was my main source of learning materials and strategies. Thank you so much for providing us with invaluable information about the test as well as making it much less daunting than what some teachers claim it to be.
I recently managed to get all in the IELTS are good me is not so good English vocabulary and grammar but no sponser no translate for my during this time the exam question and answer but not the same sometime confuse vocabulary for hearing me sir chris

Hi Chris, I can't thank you enough for all the IELTS lessons that you've created on RU-vid. I had just a month to prepare for my academic test and you were a great help. I received my results today and got a band 7.5 in writing by using your strategies (my weakest component), and an overall band 8. Please continue sharing your insights and I believe that everyone out there taking the exam will greatly benefit from your content!
I've never thought that watching a single video on youtube could improve my writing score from 5.5 to 7, like hoooooow😂😭 Thank you for your amazing job, you've changed my perception of IELTS writing task 2!
can you tell me how did you study please? and how long it took you to get to band 7.5. I’m having my exam in less than two weeks so i would appreciate any tips
@@asdafalahmadi2111 Writing task 2: Learn the structure in this channel and follow it all the time. Writing task 1: Learn how to choose key features. Speaking: Choose some topics and spend 4 hours/week speaking with somebody (talking to yourself is also ok). Don't forget to think in English whenever you can. Listening: Listen to podcasts on a daily basis. Reading: Practice the exams from Cambridge's and BC's publishers. Break a leg!
Following the steps Chris highlighted in this video, and other videos on reading and listening, I got an 8.0 in writing and an overall 8.5 score. Thanks a lot Chris.
you never cease to impress me, you now have what I need to ace my writing as well, i really appreciate how you always refer to the ielts marking scheme to explain rationales behind each and everything we should and shouldn't do
Hey chris,I can't thank youu enough,I mean you're so genuine and kind that you really want your students to excel their skills rather than some RU-vidrs who will give you some magical words to get the desired band score. You're doing an amazing job,god bless you and your family. I got overall band 7 and the videos regarding writing was a lifesaver since i didn't get enough time to prepare..I'll strongly recommend this channel for ielts preparations.
Hi, I prepped for IELTS only the day before my official exam and this was my first time sitting for it. Naturally, I was freaking out and your videos were the only study materials I used. I received my results today and I scored an 8! Thank you so much for everything, and keep going!
thanks a lot Chris! It was my first time taking the IELTS exam as I need it for studying overseas, just watched two of your videos for prep before my exam 2 hours ago and I got an 8.5 overall! Was not expecting it at all!
I used to write pretty much the same as the first essay that you analyzed and got a 6.5 on IELTS writing two months ago. As an Asian student, I was taught to memorize a bunch of memorized sentences in order to apply to every essay so this video really helps me a lot. Thank you so much for helping me and other learners recognize our mistakes, Mr Chris!
this video completely blows my mind, i've been taught how to write an essay by my teacher, and up to now, i'm so confused about the money and also efforts that I put into the whole writing process, but i have no chance to be hesitant so I'll follow your writing style, since you're more reliable at some points, thanks a lot chris
duly noted! This video is truly for learners like me who need to overcome obstacles when it comes to self studying writing skill. This has given me a deeper understanding into the way IELTS writing essays are marked and how learners like me should write in order to get our desired band score. hope this video will be widespread soon. Appreciate your work and many thanks for this, teacher.
One of the pure content for IELTS essay writing. Those who are struggling with this section will obviously take away higher insights for high band score strategy. Thanks Chris Sir. ❤
What I found to be fascinating about your band 8.0 essay is the fulfilment of TR: - Owe a debt to the country (briliant "paraphasing" of "sticking to their motherland"; I think lots of candidates lack this) - Receive considerable funding from gov - (although there is) a tremendous amount of investment I didn't think it was possible to write in the way you deliver the idea through 3 unique sentences, with almost no overlap in vocabs. I am aware that once you become proficient, you can pull this off when actively focusing on addressing the question instead of nervous about fancy structures, but I believe this was an amazing feat of your piece nonetheless. Is there any advice you would like to give students on how to achieve this? Practicing and gaining knowledge on various topics?

I started watching your videos as I was desperate to get a decent score on my ielts exam 2 days prior. I referred to all your tips and tricks on speaking, listening, and reading. I read through all your articles and your videos. I got my results today and I got a an overall 7.5 with 9 in listening, 7.5 in speaking, 7.5 in reading and 6.5 in writing from just 2 days of listening to youu. Although I don't recommend studying at the last minute ,I cannot believe that I managed to get a good score. Thank you so much and please keep doing what you do ,you're amazing. I am going to be referring your channel to all my friends who are yet to write the test.
I will take my exam in 3 days, though I think it's not late to step towards this strategy. It was perfectly well. Thanks I assume that you're going to make a big change in my score through this video.
While I was watching ur video I was thinking about how much u look like my russian language teacher in school. We have an exam EGE by Russian language and also have an essay like this in video and my teacher spoke in ur words (about the sense, about the criteria etc.) I felt like i had Deja vu. My Russian teacher was a professional(she taught people how to write essays with the highest grades), so I’m sure that u have a lot of experience and know exactly how to write an essay! Thank u very much for sharing ur experience!
After 3 attempts, I still remain a radical band 6-ielts-test taker, I see why. After watching most of your videos, I have confidence to go to the test center this 22nd, knowing that I have a possibility to improve at least to band 7💪
i submitted his final essay in chatgpt and it sure did gave this essay a band 8. awesome. I too was skeptical of the video when he said that his essay was a band 8 since the essay itself is simple to understand and not many fancy words are used but looking at this score I feel i can achieve band 8 as well. thank a lot.
I really used to think exactly like you said. Surprised to know that fancy words, complex poetry, and grammar would just do nothing but a headache to the examinee. Thanks a lot. Now I know, simplicity and clarity is the key :D
I am about to start practising writing for IELTS and watching this video has changed my perspective pretty much. Thank you so much for producing this highly beneficial content. The first time I took the exam, I hadn't studied at all and just wanted to test my existing skills and got 6.5 in writing, and 7 overall. I believe I can elevate it to an overall 8+ with your guidance this time. I have nearly 25 days to go on. Let's see!
Chris you have helped me lot through this video. I've been preparing for IELTS for over 5 months with a view to become a professional English teacher one day. I asked ChatGPT, Gemini and other LLMs to teach me how to write a band 9 essay but they provide diplomatic answers that are difficult to understand. They kept me confused for so long until today. You have successfully demystified the mysteries behind the IELTS essays. I am so gratified that I would like to pay you money. Hopefully I will meet you one day and do that.
What I have learned from this video tutorial is as follows: Write an essay by answering the questions that are asked in the essay. To put it more simply, write as if you were asked the questions by a person face to face. This way any test taker can logically answer the questions. Furthermore, I have another mystery demystified today. Myths---- IELTS is an test of your English language only and nothing else. It does not matter what ideas you write; whether ideas are logical or illogical doesn't matter. Truth--- Your ideas have to be relevant and they do matter.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm really glad to hear that our videos helped clarify things for you as you prepare for the IELTS. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
U won't believe it, today , all day long I was suffering to get an idea , how to write discussion essay, but ur video has made it easy for me.... Thnkuu Chris... God bless u🙏
Thank you so much .What I realized from your essay is that we don't need to use the most highest vocabularies to empress the examiner and only need to spread our idea and give main reason what the question ask.
I totally agree with you but 'the most highest' is grammatically incorrect; the word 'high' is considered to be a short word so the superlative form of it will be : *the highest*....we only use the most with 'long words' such as interesting, impressive etc....
I love this channel, i have a plan to get ielts 8.0 in December, i scored 7.0 overall last time, then i stopped learning for ielts. I hope that following the strategies and information in this channel will help me achieve my goal soon. I will comeback and inform my score soon. Fighting. Go go go
my exam is in 3 days and I'm terrified. can you please share your experience with your last test? how much did you score? and for how long did you study?
Thank you sooo much Chris! I just got my results and I’ve secured a band of 7.5 😭🙌🏼 Words can’t explain how grateful I am for the work you’re doing! I followed your tips and evaluated myself for two days before my test and it made a HUGE difference!
Watched your videos to prepare for my IELTS exam which I had me sweating and worried, but at the end it all paid off and I got 8 bands! Thankyou Chris and IELTS Advantage!
Hey Chris .. I watched almost all the videos from your RU-vid channel and got 7.5 bands in total . Your videos helped me to get what I needed even though I went to a coaching offline near my place , It was not helpful except the practise materials .. Listening 7.5 Reading 8.5 Speaking 7 Writing 7.5 Thank You For Helping Thousands of students and Working professionals ... I really appreciate your work ❤❤
I like your technique of explaining mistakes and solutions, it was really helpful and can make one feel less stressed before IELTS test. Thank you very much for this content.
This channel is a gem. I would not know how an essay is written correctly. As you said in the video, I was taught wrong things. Thanks you! An eye-opening video for writing!
Hey IELTS advantage, I'm memer and i feeling boring while watching other people, but you always lecture in scrasm way.. this make more interesting ❤ Sorry for my grammar hope so you understand 😅
This video is really helpful for everyone. Thanks to IELTS advantage team for providing free lessons together with tips and tricks for all 4 skills of IELTS.❤
My strategy may sound dumb, but to help myself analysing essays I just think that I am an IELTS examiner, e.g. Chris, and I imagine to be super strict and demanding towards criteria points that are listed in band descriptors. It eventually helps me to notice the mistakes I made without even looking into descriptors. Hopefully, I can reach the highest score possible :D
Another IELTS EXAM is ahead of next month. Your videos are useful to students heading for IELTS exam. Impacts of learning from your videos are very much influencing. Thanks to your team for such wonderful effort.
Thank you so much Chris! You're right about the Asian teaching thing. For years, we’ve been taught to balance both sides and give at least 2 ideas in each paragraph (firstly, secondly). I did go through a lot of confusion because I didn't know which way is the most correct. So I just want some justification here, please help me: 1. Can I apply the method "1 idea each paragraph" in all types of writing tasks 2? 2. Can I give an example before the explanation (explain the example)? This is kinda helpful cause I struggle with abstract explanations. Thank you!
Can you please do a video on the advantages outweigh the disadvantages essay. How should we paragraph these types since we have to write two or three advantages/disadvantages.

I don't teach writing (just speaking) as I haven't had any formal training, and would feel like I'm doing people a disservice by advising them on how to do these tasks. However, your videos are invaluable; so I can at least help them avoid the bad advice and viral videos out there, and help them choose a good teacher. Thanks
Thank you sir . Luckily I have seen your videos a week before test and followed all your footsteps in writing . Like what you said I didn’t use bombastic vocabs in essay or unnecessary lines but just gave simple essay with the introduction and body paragraph you suggested. Got 6.5 in writing . I could have got more but couldn’t finish writing task 1 but with essay only I managed to get this. To all those preparing for ielts , I want to wish you all best of luck and give your best particularly during test because even you pratice for months and months , it will not make any difference if you lose your consciousness during exam❤

The urge to make every single english teacher on this planet watch this video before they begin teaching like this should be a NECESSITY. I personally think that I'm great at communication in English but i was never able to figure out why Essay's were my weakness and the thing I dreaded the most. But now i'm actualy excited to give the IELTS next month. Great video!
Thanks for your kind words! It's great to know our video helped with your essay writing and got you excited for your IELTS. Good luck next month! If there's anything we can assist you with regarding your IELTS preparation, please feel free to reach out.
I wasted my 2 months time and money learning wrong structure. I was generating my own ideas initially bit my islets trainer told me that they were very simple and less attractive than she asked me to write some fancy lines in the beginning and toward the end. Yet my inner soul was crying out loudly for originality. Thank god I have Chris sir here to help. A big thank to you. ❤❤❤ what would I do without you. You are just an amazing person and a mind blowing teacher I have ever met. Btw I am from India (Punjab ) region.
It is a shame I just watched this video after taking the IELTS 9 times because I need an 8 on each band. I've been constantly getting 7.5 in my writing, and I've made some of the mistakes you mentioned cos you find material out there that says so. Thanks, Chris!!! I hope I'll do it better next time.
Hello , Chris. By using the advice you've given I received a higher score, from 6 to 7. I used to write an essay by cherry picking "the best" ideas, waisting time and creating complicated text I thought was great . But then i decided to practice writing an essay following the tips in this very video, I'm so grateful. Thank you so much!
Mr. Chris I love your teaching method and sincerity to uplift the performance of all exam takers. I have been following your advice for many days now. My exam is tomorrow, so wish me luck. I'll hopefully get an amazing score and then let you know about it. My reason for commenting is not only to appreciate your commendable dedication to educating us, but also to let you know that you have an amazing sense of humor and a little sassiness(I mean it in the best way possible 😁). It makes your videos much enjoyable. Keep it up!!
@@muneezasyed9248 Hey Muneeza. I got an overall 8 Band score(L:8.5, R:8.5, W:7, S:7.5) I followed almost all his videos throughout my prep. Also,do practice tests on official sites like IDP or British Council etc. You’ll score high if you prepare like this. I just had 10 days for my prep. If you have more time and you put in some effort ,you’ll score better. Best of luck!
I only had three days to prepare, I have watched a few videos and given few tests too. Tomorrow is my reading, listening, writing test. Thanks for your prompt response :)@@minahilshahjehan1299
Idk how I got recommended this video but as a fluent speaker this was very insightful to watch, seeing what it's like for ppl to learn a language you're already fluent in
Thank you so much Mr. Pell, I watched this video and and your task 1 instructions video, THE MORNING BEFORE MY TEST, and I got 7.0 writing and 7.0 overall for my first test. I did not study anything before hand at all and your videos are absolutely amazing.
Your guidance have helped me alot and Today I got my bands - L :7.5 , R :6.5, W :6.5 and S :7 and an overall of 7. Thank you so much for providing all these knowledge for free.

I've been speaking english for almost 30 years now and these tests always get me! Never been able to get more than a band 7-7.5 Thank you for all the amazing content! And love how some words bring out that bit of your ...Irish? accent hehe
I had only one week of preparation time for my second attempt. Your concise and genuine guidance increased my writing score by one band i.e. 7.0 which is a broadly accepted score. Thanks a lot, man!
Hi! I got my IELTS score today of an 8.5 overall with a band 7.0 in writing. I found this video just the day before my test and IT HELPED SOOOO MUCH!! I took IELTS courses, and while they helped somewhat, they gave me tips that you mentioned was only giving 6 or under. So again, thank you so so much :)
Honestly, this is the most useful and helpful advice I have received from any ielts teacher! So my story is a bit long and May sound unusual to many, but ya it did happen with me. I gave my first Ielts in 2021after rigorous coaching (during the third trimester of pregnancy) and I got overall 8 with R9 L8 S7 W7.5 . Unfortunately, I couldn’t proceed to relocate then due to certain reasons and finally when it was time my ielts report got expired. Sadly, but enthusiastically I reappeared for Ielts a couple of weeks back. And I did get the overall band 8 and this time R8 L8.5 S8 , but W6.5 , I was really disappointed and gave EOR only to be unsuccessful at it. Now I have applied for one test retake, as my desired band score is 7 . And that’s why am here 😊. I can’t thank Chris enough for providing such detailed videos. Hoping to get a better writing score this time.
Hi Chris I bought the membership of VIP academy and it really helped me out to achieve the score. Your lessons were very helpful and it really helped me in speqking, writing and grammar.
