Customer called saying her key won't turn the ignition lock cylinder anymore. Once I got on scene turned out not to be the actual switch itself but I completely worn down key.
My 1994 Cavalier got so the key would not turn. AutoZone ~$270 for cylinder (+mechanic $). I "fixed" it; tapped w/ hammer & shook key & got it to turn 1X. Then I left it in "off" position & "will never" turn ignition to "Lock" position. My key pulls out in off position. Now any key can turn the cylinder, but I lock the doors. This shud work until some idiot (like me) accidentally turns ignition to LOCK. My mechanic had worked w/ the ignition 1/2 hour w/ no luck in getting it to turn.
Can you get worn like that because of A heavy key ring, having a bunch of keys hanging on ignition key is a bad idea, every time you start the car every time you turn the corner the keys wiggle, ignition key wobbles in the keyway Causing the where in tear on the side of the key blank,
This isn't very helpful if the key already gets stuck in the ignition. This basically an ad for hiring a locksmith to come fix it. There are other videos on RU-vid that are more helpful.
Read the title 1st, he is giving you a possible solution to a issue, these type of videos are always helpful if it doesnt pertain to your situation move on. Your upset cause your key gets stuck well maybe you should search for a key stuck in ignition. Or find a solution outside of RU-vid. People do these video to HELP meaning he doesnt have to post anything you'd have to figure it out yourself. People these days a this since of entitlement. Be a better person.
