Instead of going to Russ and saying “we need you to move off the injury clause in the contract so you can finish out the year, you’re our guy” and trying to come to an agreement. Broncos instead tried to force his hand which is going to cost them 80 million next year without him even playing. They had multiple ways of handling this situation and literally chose the worst from the start

Well you're talking about the dead cap hit. His salary for next year is 35.4 million. They took nothing away from him except the ability to get "hurt" and earn himself an additional 37 million for that. All his guaranteed money (salary, option, and signing bonus) is intact and untouched while he gets to sit on the bench. I feel really bad for him.

They gave up all that draft pick and then on top of it, paying him all that money. But the worst thing about that contract is they gave him a extension and you didn't even see him play for your team yet and see how he does. That's like overpaying for a car and you didn't even test drive it or check for mechanical issue. But your right the media is making it sound like peytan is the villain and russel is the victim. The GM gave away the farm on a hunch and a promise. That's like contracting a super model from the early 2000s, based on the fact that she was the hottest thing out there at one point.
