I actually worked at a KFC when I was freshman in HS. We usually toss away left overs, or take it home. This seems to be an issue with the franchise owner.
Yes that franchise owner had to from another country where they don’t care about the health of people. I would never pay 20 bucks to get sick from that 5 day old food.
@@broke9540 I was working there in '08-'10 and it was NEVER like this. Definitely a franchise issue.' I did work at McDonalds for a year before KFC during my teenage years and just comparing the two, I'm actually quite surprised at, I want to say, the quality of KFC compared to McDonalds and probably other fast food joints. In terms of the food, the chicken was delivered fresh every morning, apart from Sundays. The managers I worked with always disposed of the chicken after the allocated time so he was very strict about how much we cooked. The oil in the fryers were cleaned every night and were dumped when you couldn't see the bottom of a dip that I believe was 1-2". Not a fan of fast food at all but if I were to choose between any I'd always go for the dirty bird. Not the chips, nuggets, popcorn chicken or anything else, only the fried chicken.
And that's a problem? I sure the hell you're not sticking up for the franchise, cause that dirty money hungry pig is doing injustice to his community and the legal cooperate pigs name they're profiting on.
I highly doubt it. We’re talking about a company that sells sawdust as “mashed potatoes”. Don’t get me started on the “gravy” I’m not sure what that sludge is, but it’s certainly not gravy.
@@Trump985 When we changed the grease (3-4 days), the crumbs that sank to the bottom were added to a spice package to make the gravy. Powered flakes (potato ?) and steamed water made mashed potatoes. Last nights unsold chicken was taken out of the cooler, covered in BBQ sauce and put in the warming tray to be sold for 25% off. I worked for Colonel Sanders from 1980 to 1981.
When I worked at Golden Chick, we would either throw everything away when closing or take everything home to our families depending on if our manager let us or not. The entire staff were in high school except our manager so if we horsed around too much she would tell us to throw everything away and we would try to beg her to reconsider haha. We literally had to sweep, mop, bleach, and hose the floors and clean all the appliances every single night. Whoever owned the franchise in the video didn't care to follow the proper health codes. Hopefully the store has new management now.
I worked at a kfc in 96’. We usually took home food but the leftover chicken was deboned to put in the pot pies for the next day. I was told to refill the ice bin one day and found a roach frozen so I didn’t refill the ice bin and went to do something else. The manager later asked me what happened to the ice, I whispered it’s a roach in it. She told me to scoop it out put the rest of the ice in the bin. I never put ice in my drinks again. Another incident a guy dropped a whole tray of chicken fresh out the grease. Manager told him to take it to the back to debone for the pot pies. I never ate another pot pie from there. Actually I haven’t eaten kfc in years. The last thing I’ve eaten was the hot wings and that was maybe a decade ago. I’m sure kfc is not the only place that does this.
You worked at a KFC with a bad manager. Not all KFC restaraunts do this, and unless the owner of the franchise isn't defying the company regulations, this will never happen.
I was just gonna say, this isn’t the only fast food place that does this crap! I remember working at Pizza Hut when I was 16 and one of the supervisors was making a pizza for a rude customer. Well this supervisor had a nasty sinus infection and I kid-you-not, cleared her throat of snot and spit it right onto the pizza 🍕🤢🤮 I don’t care how rude somebody is, that’s just plain wrong and so disgusting.

First of all, they didn't get fired. They quit. Because they knew if their restaurant was exposed, they would be terminated. It's nice to know though. My son used to work for KFC and he said nothing like this! It has to do with management and after this exposure, their health department closed them down.
Things must've changed drastically since I ran KFC stores in the late 70's. There was Zero,...zilch reheats. All leftovers went 'chilled', to the nearest orphanage the next day. Any manager caught reheating or recycling food, was shown the door.
I asked my brother( a former manager for 11 stores in Southern California)about this video and he simply said “absolutely ridiculous the restaurants wouldn’t survive a day “
@@caseywilliams4322 I'm sure you assume everyone is lazzy because they don't drive a porche or have a thousand degrees, I bet your dumbass would be the one eating this slop
Don’t know about KFC, but when I worked at Taco Bell. There was never any food kept overnight and sold the next day. Clearly whoever was in charge of that store did not know how to do daily prep work. You only cook what you know you can and will sell in a 6 hour period of time.
Chicken can be repurposed if cooled properly after 3 hour sit time. If they are reselling the chicken as is after 3 hours thats not right. But chicken in general can be repurposed for other things if not sold. For example my restaurant would shred leftover unsold chicken and make it into chicken salad, and chicken salad sandwiches. We would also repurpose chicken and shred to make chicken gravy over mashed potatoes. Theres ways to save that chicken and not let it go to waste if done the right way.
Actually, but we don't know how many franchises do this. Just make sure your chicken doesn't look like its been left on the street for 3 days on a row.
@@darkseeto1996 Yeah but I think the other person was pointing out that you can't assume *all* KFC franchises are like this; I don't think they were saying *only* this one does this stuff.
I worked at a Gino's restaurant in high school. Back then things were more honest. Every night they threw trays of chicken away because the expiration was 4 hours and they had to estimate their sales for the evening. I admittedly did take some home for my family, but the rest was never sold and thrown away.
I used to work at kfc , and let me tell y’all this , the kfc I worked at , completely focused in sanitation and cleaning and the freshest of food. We also took left overs home after a day of work , or it all gets thrown away. It just depends in management :)
No lad. This vid is a decade old. These people showed how kfc functioned and kfc was forced to raise sanitation standards in order to not get shut down. Your kfc is the way it is because of these guys sacrifice.
@@RK-cj4oc I worked at kfc between 2011-2014 and it definitely has to do with management. the kfc I worked at that tons of quality control and we would have to sanitize everything, every 1-2 hours and change out the food no more than 2 hrs later to maintain freshness. They were definitely a lot cleaner than most other restaurants back in the time. Idk how it is now though.
It is very true. When I was 18 I worked at KFC and I quit one cause of bad management and two because they expected me to serve chicken regardless of if it was bad or not... There was alot of bad chicken because the cooler never stayed cold and the final straw was when I was told it's ok to serve chicken even if it was dropped on the floor.. the nasty ass chicken juice and grease covered floor. Don't eat at KFC and surely don't eat at any in the lake county area
It's a franchise, standards change from location to location. There are KFCs here that are night and day different. Some give you all drumsticks if you ask. Others say the portions are predetermined. One in particular lets you call in to prepare a fresh batch, but you can wait up to 3 hours before it's ready because there is a queue of other people also asking for fresh.
I worked at wendys many years ago and we did everything by the book for the most part. What was left over we tossed or took home but im not sure about now. We had pretty good managers and the dm and gm were strict. I guess it depends on whos in charge of what store
I worked at Kfc for years even promoted to manager and we NEVER DID that, every franchise is different I guess. I'd get so mad cuz we dumped so much food at the end of the night. I started just handing out tons of free food the last 30 min of the night with peopled orders to get rid of the food we would throw away
I worked at KFC too and my family didn't know that the chicken that was put in the pot pies was the de boned chicken from the night before hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Absolutely right. I've worked at most major fast food chains and Iv never seen this. This would not have been allowed where I worked. It's starts with management. I would have been fired if I tried selling old food the next day.

Even restaurants do this. As long as the temp is out of the danger zone you’re allowed to reheat up to 3 times. Even I was shocked by hearing this but imagine if you were the owner and by law you had to throw out all your product each day.
I never buy mcdonald stuff unless icecream or something i can drink . Because in indonesia we have our own fried chicken brand that more delicious than kfc and mcd and the best one more cheaper
Why would they be defending KFC lol it's not like they're on a salary or anything. Obviously all KFC'S don't do this. It all depends on who the GM/Franchisee is at your location. And that pretty much applies for all fast food chains.
Worked at a Checkers when I was younger the GM would just erase the time on chicken, dry erase board, and just change the hour the was original time. And the grease ,wait till it was black almost literally

P.s most of your fast food places do this or did 10 years ago ive worked in restaraunts for 23 years yes older stores that dont sell much will keep until the next day my question is if your not selling that much why not lower the amount you cooked thats on the whole store not just the uppers its called cleaning look at the nasty store moldy food is the least of the worries
This reflects on the franchise owner more than KFC. KFCs food standards are pretty strict, and this is not how they teach their franchise owners to do things. I’m a sanitation practice consultant, and work with many fast food restaurants. Problems like this stem from shady franchise owners, looking to cut costs. I’m usually the guy that shows up when corporate takes over a restaurant due to problems like this. I train staff on how to prevent cross contamination, proper cleaning techniques, and how to properly store different types of foodstuffs.

As a long term ex fast food worker(almost every main fastfood ive worked there) this is and isnt the norm. It all depends on the store owner(not just the franchise) and most of all Budget for the owner and franchises budget. Depending on one of 2 Taco Bell stores not even 10 miles apart would have different rules for sanitiation and food saftey, hell even employee safety was in question. Shoot the main one I worked at had a A grade, but the older Taco Bell had a C+ just barely passing bugs in the kitchen, all day dirty bathrooms, and employees coughing sneezing over food, you name it I saw or heard 2nd hand what they did. The old store employees hated working at the main store cause of the rules lol and I still dont eat at the older Taco Bell.
This is a special case for sure. I use to work at a KFC and old food was constantly tossed out. You need to report this store to a health inspector other wise you're just as guilty for continuing this action.
IT'S A SKIT dude literally irony 52 comments just for me, Thanks guys! Holy shit i love the way that these kids reunited all here, just to have an autograph from me. Wow thanks! You can go back playing roblox now.
Heather Hurst reasoning for this is that many KFC’s tend to hire younger people and promote them to manager without them having any experience. Fast food restaurant attract younger groups of people then older and educated people. My older brother worked at a Burger King and had to quit due to the manager being lazy and not enforcing the rules given. This isn’t KFC’s fault entirely or at all depending on how you see it.
I agree with you Heather Hurst. I also used to work at KFC these people here are just wanting to get fired for lying. We used to throw away food at night or take it home, not dump it and resell it.
I worked at KFC years ago in Berea Ohio. Unless things have changed since then this is totally false! We used to throw all of that stuff out or we let employees take home whatever they wanted. The only thing that would be used the next day would be the corn on the cob. I'm not even sure if they still sell the corn on the cob, but we did in 1983-1985 (the years I worked for KFC)
I used to work in fast food restaurants before, and let me tell you - unless the owner of the franchise isn't defying the company regulations, this will never happen. I remember back in 2013, when I worked at McDonalds, we had a rule to throw out any products older than 8 minutes sitting on displays. We usually had full bags of completely ok burgers, thrown out just because of that. And I can imagine in any other fast food business, there is no way you would reuse food. This is probably just some disgusting pig disobeying rules of the franchise.
@@ekothesilent9456 congratulations, youre "just following orders", and breaking the law, because you were told to. You ever heard of the milgrams experiment?
You are correct, KFC has many controls for product, when I was younger I worked there and everything was tagged with expiration times. Once expired it was pulled. Always. These guys obviously had trash management and were cooking too much when you're expected to make less quantity more often so the waste is less. To be fair, I've heard that the franchisees get totally hosed and it's a massive investment, so it creates a perverse incentive for some to cheat to recoup their investment.
It doesn’t matter if you have to throw away the food if it’s been sitting out for 8 minutes because it isn’t real food so they are not losing any money by throwing it away since it’s just a bunch of cheap ass chemicals.
@@choogedoogle you just got fooled by them lmao they're the nasty ass crew and they are trying blame the company for their own negligence. They didn't "expose" KFC, they exposed themselves as a nasty ass location
That's not the KFC way, that's a rogue franchise location. The manger is responsible if he is instructing people to operate this way. I worked at KFC a complete year my senior year in high school back on 1989 and we got in trouble for giving the days' leftover food to homeless who would come by at closing. So we started placing the food in containers, then inside a trash bag and placed it on top of the dumpster and instructed the people to wait and then go get the bag. The manager would literally stand at the door to see we threw it away. In his defense, it's a liability to give food to people out the back door and it can encourage people who are able to pay to come and get it free, AND it was dangerous to interact with people out a back door at night - we could have been robbed, or worse. We were all teenagers after all. So there are two sides, but we never kept ANY food to serve the next day and there were timeframes during the day we had to dump food. Leftovers at the end of the night were under 3 hours old. We could take it home or throw it out. A good manager and crew also know how to prep to avoid a lot of leftovers. #facts
